This was posted today on Facebook by Lee D. Shepherd:

In April 1961, following the landing at the Bay of Pigs, JFK arranged for a meeting with retired General Douglas MacArthur who told him flat out, “Anyone wanting to commit American ground forces to the mainland of Asia should have his head examined.” MacArthur agreed with his old rival, Eisenhower, that a “land war” in Indochina would be a nightmare. During the meeting, the veteran commander forewarned the young president that there were elements inside the U.S. government who were seeking to destroy his administration from within. MacArthur’s believed that the forces bent on destroying Kennedy were centered in the Wall Street financial community and its various tentacles in the intelligence community. MacArthur warned him. “The chickens are coming home to roost, and you happen to have just moved into the chicken house...Eisenhower should have done something about Cuba sooner.”
