At halftime, Trump 178-99 electoral votes.

Trump ought to have that ear bronzed, instead of just slapping bronzer on it.

Please vent here on the outfall of the 2024 elections.

David,

It's an unmitigated disaster for the United States and the planet -- the triumph of ignorance and mass deception over knowledge and the truth about Trump and his billionaire promoters-- Elon Musk, Rupert Murdoch, Robert Mercer, Charles Koch, Timothy Mellon, Peter Thiel, Putin, et.al.

Even worse, if the Robber Baron Koch-sters control the House and Senate, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare will be destroyed.

The EPA and climate change mitigation will also be shut down-- as they were from 2017-21.

As I look at the numbers this morning, it's also clear, as David Axelrod observed, that racism and misogyny played a major role in this 2024 Trump debacle.

I posted a question a few days ago-- "Are there enough informed, ethical white people in the U.S. to defeat Trump?"

      The answer is, "No."

Even the ignorant MAGA wretch, Lauren Boebert, got re-elected to Congress from Colorado!  😲

What we're looking at in 2025 is "kakistocracy"-- governance by the worst people.

The people in the MAGA cult, obviously, learned nothing from Trump's disastrous first term in the White House, mainly because Trump-reality was persistently censored by Fox, Newsmax, Breitbart, Daily Caller, and the prevalent right-wing podcasters out there.

So, those who failed to remember history are now destined to make all of us repeat it.

      We're screwed.

I can only hope RFK Jr. rises to the occasion and looks out for our interests.

edit: And by "our interests", I don't mean JFKA researchers, but those of us who do not approve of Trump's actions.

I think a lesson the  Dems can draw is that we're not as educated a people anymore and those people have had their expectations lowered and have been hurting. The Dems have been painted with the elite brush. They thought nothing was wrong because they have enough margin that they've largely been able to keep up with inflation so Harris  saying she wouldn't budge from Biden's policies just reinforced that. And Harris has had a lot more money in her campaign as well.

Even though it wasn't Jimmy Carter's fault, Inflation is what buried him too when people realized the prices are not coming back. The very same thing would have happened to Trump if he won in 2020.  But the irony is whatever the reaction they expected from government, they were much more apt to get from the Democrats. All they're going to get from Republicans is trickle down.

I don't think anti vax is looking out for our interests. Besides, I wouldn't count on that relationship lasting. Trump will overrule him and that will force RK out. Trump learned last night he doesn't need him anyway.

My impression is that many people still have no idea how truly disastrous this election will prove for the American people.

How many Americans have studied the long-term Koch/Federalist Society agenda for our judicial system, and Project 2025?

In addition to seriously damaging our American healthcare systems, and Social Security, it's highly probable that we'll see a federally mandated abortion ban, and, possibly, a roll back of civil rights for LGBT citizens.

We're also going to see a renewed Trump roll back of clean air and clean water standards in the U.S., worsening poverty and wealth inequality, mushrooming of the national debt, and "Starving the Beastly" working class.

Who's going to be part of his cabinet? Who's going to be part of his administration? Secretary of State Elon Musk? Health and human services secretary RFK Jr? I guess we have to get ready for Supreme Court Justices Joe Rogan and Tucker Carlson.

Well, we're getting the president we deserve. Someone with no sense of shame and no morals whatsoever. In the choice between the the prosecutor and the felon, more Americans chose the felon.

Musk recently announced that Trump needs to cut $2 trillion from the Federal budget.

It's an absolutely bizarre number, wiping out most "safety net" discretionary funding.

Soylent Green, here we come... 🙄

Nobody cares if a woman is having a miscarriage and is suffering and is going to die without proper medical care. More American voters are okay with it.

Nobody cares if babies are unwanted. Nobody cares if a rape victim has to carry their rapist's baby. No one cares if a victim of incest gets pregnant.

I mean who knew you could become president just by consistently staying off message and rambling about Hannibal Lecter and electric boats and pet-eating immigrants? That's the candidate most American voters wanted.

Donald Trump's supporters tried to murder the vice president of the United States. Donald Trump's supporters smeared their feces on the wall of the capitol.

Donald Trump tried to get the secretary of state of Georgia to invent 11,780 votes out of thin air. Is that not election interference? Why did four years go by and this blatantly criminal behavior was not punished? Why did four years go by and he was not held accountable at all?

Musk doesn't need any safety net. The whole government could become privatized and he'd be as happy as a clam. It's good to be part of the ultra wealthy.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk, two champions of the working class. Kamala Harris, an elite Black woman. If only she pretended to work at McDonald's instead of actually working at McDonald's she'd be president-elect right now! If only she had given a few more speeches mentioning Hannibal Lecter, then the voters would have flocked to her.

Imagine Obama bragging about, "Grabbing women by the p*ssy."

Imagine Kamala Harris having five children with three different spouses, then f**king a porn star.

The stuff Donald F. Doofus gets a pass on is utterly mind boggling.

The felonious worst POTUS in history gets re-elected?

Of course I agree. I think there is a real messaging problem occurring, and those that oppose Trumpism would be wise to point out that catering to the wealthy while everyone else gets poorer, is what decimated the middle class in this country, and if Trump continues down that path, he will permanently destroy the idea of a prosperous middle-class in the United States.

The messaging to Trump supporters needs to emphasize this; that he's promised to make America great again like it was when there was a middle class. And if he blows off that promise to them, they need to call him out on it. Whether Republican or Democrat, every U.S. citizen needs to stay on top of this; he said he'd keep his promises, so make sure he does.

Just an FYI...

Project 2025 itself doesn't call for eliminating or changing Social Security. Nor does it call for eliminating or changing Medicare, with the exception of making Medicare Advantage the default plan choice, and eliminating  the drug-price negotiations that Biden instituted.

On the other hand, we all know that many Republican lawmakers want to gut both Social Security and Medicare. We just can't say that Project 2025 is behind it.

FWIW

Sandy,

There are references to cutting Social Security and Medicare in the Koch/Heritage Project 2025 plan.

Also, Charles and the late David Koch have wanted to abolish Medicare and roll back the New Deal for decades.

I won't believe it unless somebody prints here exactly what is in the book.

I checked the Wikipedia article on Project 2025 and it doesn't say anything about Social Security or Medicare, other than what I wrote in my earlier post.

I did a google search and found many debunkings of what you are claiming, by reputable organizations like PBS.
