I am currently the Head of History and co-ordinator of the Gifted and Talented and Aimhigher programmes at an inner city boys 11-16 comprehensive in London. I have been teaching for 11 years and have been a middle manager for 4 of those. I am particularly interested in promoting a multicultural curriculum for school's history and have been involved in a few online projects such as the National Archives Black Presence website: http://www.pro.gov.uk/pathways/blackhistory/index.htm and the schoolhistory.co.uk seminars: http://www.schoolhistory.co.uk/forum/index...?showtopic=1518

I'm Rik PALMANS, Biology and ICT teacher in the Provinciale Secundaire School of Voeren, a small community near to the spot where the borders of Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany come together. (My students are 15-18 years old.) I'm also a member of the Biology Department of Virtual School. I am javier méndez, teacher in secondary education in Madrid.At present I am in a teacher training unit in Alcorcón, a small village near Madrid. I am a teacher, currently working for the Directorate of Lifelong Learning of East Riding of Yorkshire Council. (The East Riding is in the UK, mid-way up the map and on the east side.)

I learned about English at Corpus Christi College, a college of Oxford University, where my tutor was Dr. (now Professor) Valentine Cunningham. I learned about teaching at Leicester University School of Education, then relearned much of it (several times) in real classrooms. More recently I learned about the uses of computing in education at the School of Engineering and Information Technology of the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside, now the University of Lincoln. In April of 2001 I helped found the Association of Teacher Websites.

I have a Web site for teaching English at www.universalteacher.org.uk.

I have recently been involved in coordinating UK schools in the European Network of Innovative Schools (ENIS).

In my day-job I am involved in developing a Digital School. This will use the resources that are freely available at eRiding, a new portal for education, hosted by the East Riding of Yorkshire's directorate of lifelong learning.

My name is Louise Phillips, I'm 22 and I am currently an NQT at Heathfield Foundation Technology College in the West Midlands. I just finished my secondary history teacher training at Swansea University. I did the International Baccalaureate at Swansea College before going on to York Uni to study history and politics.

I am now about to take up a post at Halesowen College as Course Leader in Government and Politics. I will also be teaching Citizenship and some Sociology modules.

I teach part time and run a helpline for stressed teachers. This does not mean that I am not stressed myself.

I am also the union learning representative for the NUT in West Sussex.

I am interested in cyberpsychology and open source software. I KS3 ICT and seek to reduce its dependence on Microsoft software :D

Since december 1997, all this represents nearly 300 pages,

hundred of websites quoted...


- I participate, as a founder and as a "history news agency" to H-Francais,

a french mailing list on teaching history in France, part of H-Net

- With the help of Nicole Mullier, I also publish on the web

texts and documents on Holocaust history.

These texts result from conferences runned by

a "Cercle d'étude de la déportation et de la Shoah" and

the "Amicale des déportés d'Auschwitz".

I am Head of Humanities at the International School of Toulouse. When the school opened in 1999 it was the first fully laptop school in Europe. The Humanities website attempts to convey/document some of the consequences of this pedagogic experiment.

I am a member of the European Virtual School History Department but I have also taught geography, sociology, politics and philosophy. I am a member of the Association of Teachers' Websites and an administrator of this forum.

I'm Chris Turner, currently an MA student at University College London and (hopeful) PhD applicant to Yale University in the United States. I am also the webmaster of The History Student Online (http://www.historystudent.com), which aims to publish its own online journal every quarter and provide a base for constructive historical discussion.

As you can see, my interests are fairly diverse. My intention at PhD level is to explore how Early Modern English culture transported itself to the Americas (if it did at all) from 1500 - 1776 and to see how this contributed to a sense of independence from Britain. I am always happy to discuss issues relating to Early Modern English culture, 20th Century American culture and ideas of Nation on my website.

I began my career in 1965 as a teacher of German and French in secondary education and I have been involved in ICT and foreign language learning and teaching since 1976. In 1982 I wrote one of the first introductory books on computers in language learning and teaching, which was subsequently followed by numerous other printed and digital publications. In 1989 I was conferred with the title of Professor of Computer Assisted Language Learning at Thames Valley University. I retired from university teaching in 1993, but I have continued to work as an independent consultant on ICT and language learning and teaching and I am a partner in an educational software development and retailing business, Camsoft: http://www.camsoftpartners.co.uk. My name is David Simkin. I trained as a teacher in the early 1970s and taught in secondary schools in Essex from 1975 to 1982. In 1982, I moved to Brighton and from 1983 to 1993 I worked for Tressell Publications, a Teachers' Co-operative which produced active learning materials for primary and secondary schools. During my time with Tressell, I produced a number of books and learning packs in the field of History and Integrated Studies and designed several computer assisted learning packs and historical simulations. When Tressell Publications folded, I returned to teaching and worked briefly as an Education Officer at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery. I currently work in East Sussex County Council's Education Department. For the past five years or so, i have carried out research into the lives and careers of photographers active in Sussex during Victorian and Edwardian times and I have my own website devoted to the History of Photography in Brighton - Brighton Photographers, 1841-1910.
