Guest Stephen Turner
Perhaps Brendan Slattery, or Craig Lamson might like to give us the benfit of their wisdom here. I suspect Craigs reply might be that as long as Haliburton are making plenty of Money out of the illegal occupation then every things hunky dory with him. Both appear to have had their posting rights curtailed indefinately so you will only be able to "suspect" their replies. Shame, as George Orwell said of Lord Saintsbury, (after he condemned the undeserving poor) "He is only saying what every £2-00 a week jumped up clerk thinks, I almost have to admire a man who is so openly a total s***. Raymond Blair
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051216/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraqSooner or later you folks will have to acknowledge that Bush and Blair were right, WMD or not!! Since this has been reintroduced, Tim, you must now see that Bush and Blair were only right in their political leanings on this matter and not in their correctness. Or are you one of the last holdouts in thinking that knowing what wenow know that the foray into Iraq would be engaged in again. And, gulp, that Vietnam was a good idea too that was foiled by unpatriotic treasonous critics...? Plate of crow Tim?

John Simkin
It is also facile and innacurate to describe an occupied country as a "democracy". Yes, Andy, never mind how many vote!Unbelievable, none of you socialist/leftists have the intellectual courage to admit that, WMD or no, the regime change in Iraq may in the long run be a good thing. It certainly is for the people of Iraq. Iraq was "occupied" by the forces of the butcher of Bagdad. The western troops are only there to ensure that the transition to democracy is a peaceful one. Problem with you Brits is you were an imperial power that only gave up its colonies oft under force. The US "occupied" Japan only long enough for Gen. MacArthur to bring democracy and freedom to that country. And look at how it has prospered. And changed from a culture of war to a culture of economic prosperity. In the long run, your grandchildren and their children will live in a safer world because of the fortitude of George Bush and Tony Blair. You guys just aren't smart enough to get it. You don't understand that the George Bush whose intelligence that you ridicule has more brains and vision than most of you put together. Sorry, but I just had to say it. I mean no offense to anyone in particular and I will applaud the first one to acknowledge that maybe, just maybe history will demonstrate that GB and TB were correct. What about this for another piece of perceptive political analysis.

History makes fools of us all, but some worse than others. Sorry both links are broken for some reason, looks like URLs have made a fool out of me. Carry on as before.
