Gary Mack and the Sixth Floor Museum

Recommended Posts

I can't say I have any respect for someone who would keep such a vital issue disguised [so much so as to give the visitor to the 'museum' the idea that LHO [or one of them] alone planned and executed the assassination!

Peter, give me a ball park figure of how many times you have ever asked Gark Mack through any type of correspondence what his personal feelings were pertaing to whether he believes there may have been a conspiracy or not in JFK's assasination? It seems that some of you are too emotionally involved in your position to understand that the Gary Mack who respresents the Musuem, as part of his job, is supposed to remain neutral and cite the 'historical record' of the assassination while in their employment.

Gary Mack believes there was a conspiracy

So does Dave Perry, yet he's slimed by the buffs.

This is actually a good point, Mr. Slattery. Not that Mr. Perry hasn't brought a bit of it on himself. At one point he created a page "debunking" a post I made on the Lancer Forum. He used me as an example of people who didn't know what they were talking about. As a result, I looked more deply into the topic, and found that not only was I right, but that the mischief surrounding the backyard photographs was far more extensive than I'd originally posted. As far as I know, no retraction was made. Even so, from having spent time on alt.assassination.JFK, I've been able to make a few observations.

1) The LNers stick together. If one LNer thinks Oswald did it, and that there was no conspiracy to cover anything up, he doesn' feel the need to attack someone like John Canal, who believes that Oswald acted alone, but that the government covered it up anyhow. Similarly, John McAdams, who can't admit that Dr. Baden and the FPP could be wrong about the cowlick entrance, feels little need to attack Chad Zimmerman and John Canal, who believe the FPP was mistaken about the entrance and that the original autopsists were correct. They think of themselves as being on the "same team."

2. Meanwhile, on the conspiracy side of the fence, there is mass in-fighting. As demonstrated on this Forum, the "alterationists" hate the non-alterationists. The non-alterationists hate the alterationists. People like Gary Mack are villified for not pushing the CT agenda. People like Jack White are villified for "embarrassing the community."

I tend to think that if the "conspiracy community" could unify on one theme, such as the absurd dishonesty inherent in the Single-Bullet Theory, and present these findings in a consistent fashion, it might be able to regain some credibility with the media, and the public. In my experience, most Americans feel that there was something fishy about the assassination, and believe there was a conspiracy, BUT tend to believe the conspiracy community is full of wackos. As a result, they don't trust anyone, and try to think about the assassination as little as possible.

"There are basicly two camps. OK, I'm clearly in one..but either both camps should be as happy or as unhappy with the Museum for it to be able to say it is being 'neutral' and objective about historical fact. I don't deny it may have some educational value for the average person who knowns next to nothing, but.... "

Of course the overwhelming evidence points to LBJ as the man who ordered the assassination, and of course Hoover and LBJ had to be the ones who "pulled" off the coverup. I noticed very clearly on one display in the 6th Floor Museum that talked of the possible killers that LBJ was noticably absent.

The two most obvious men to want JFK dead, and they aren't even mentioned in the museum. Who else could have pulled off one of the poorest coverups in history? Today, it SHOULD be transparent that it was LBJ.

Gary is in the precarious position of trying to run a neutral museum. The building is owned by Dallas County, and I’m guessing he gets some support from the city because it brings tourists to town. He really can’t lean too far into the CT camp without ruffling some of the feathers of the powers-that-be. He may have personal feelings one way or the other, but because of his position, he has to stay in the middle.

I’ve noticed that several times when I’ve posted questions on here, or Lancer, Mr. Mack has answered me in a private email. He simply gives me the answer that I’m looking for without editorial comment one way or the other. Again, very neutral. However, he does take it upon himself, unsolicited, to give me (and the rest of us) the information we seek. If he was a true LNer, he wouldn’t give us the time of day.

Personally, I’m very glad he’s around, and very glad he runs the museum in the neutral way that he does. Give everyone the information they seek, whether it’s in the form of exhibits or answers to questions asked, and let everyone make up their own mind. It’s the sign of a good educator.

Thanks Gary.

P.S. I was down there a month or so ago, I saw a large and complicated flow chart in the gift shop. It showed who knew who and who was connected to what, and so on. I couldn't buy it, and only had a few minutes to look at it. Has anyone seen this chart? If so, just how accurate is it?

Of necessity Gary's public persona is polished and circumspect.

But you should have been present at his disgraceful performance

at the University of Texas at Arlington in Jim Marrs' JFK class in

the 90s. About 40 students were present.

Jim had asked Jean Hill to do a repeat performance of her JFK

witness testimony before a new group of students. Jean was always

very nice and she always brought us all a batch of her freshly baked

cookies. She was relating how she and Mary came downtown and

sweet-talked a cop friend into letting them go down into the grassy

area WHERE SPECTATORS HAD BEEN BANISHED. She told how she

and Mary were there to shoot Polaroid photos of a couple of cop

boyfriends, as well as the president. She said Mary took a cop

photo of one of the lead motorcycles. Then as the limo came around

the corner, she said she saw WHAT SHE THOUGHT WAS A SMALL

WHITE DOG THAT JACKIE WAS SHOWING TO THE PRESIDENT.

At this point Gary and Dave Perry (sitting beside him) BEGAN

HECKLING JEAN AND LAUGHING. Somewhat flustered at the rude

interruption, Jean continued...saying that eager to get a good

photo of the president, SHE AND MARY STEPPED OFF THE CURB

AND INTO THE STREET. She said she was almost close enough

to reach out and touch the side of the limo.

Immediately, Gary shouted loudly..."YOU ARE A xxxx, JEAN!"

She attempted to continue, but again, ..."YOU ARE A xxxx, JEAN!"

Jean burst into tears on the small stage at the front of the large

classroom...and fled from the room. The students sat stunned.

Jim made an apology, and tried to continue the class. Gary and

Perry did not apologize. The class adjourned in disarray. Jim

soon thereafter discontinued these JFK classes.

I wonder if they'd have been as rude to Nellie Connally if she started spouting how her husband yelled out "No, No, No" BEFORE he was shot. People's memories are flawed, and the more they retell a story the less clear their memories become.

Interesting story Jack. As a result of this incident Hill stopped giving interviews about the JFK assassination.

Hill told the Warren Commission about how she saw "a little white dog" in the rear seat of the president's car. As there was no dog in the car, the reliability of Hill's witness statement was undermined. However, 25 years later, it was revealed that a small white stuffed animal was on the back seat of the car. A child had presented it to Jackie Kennedy at the beginning of the tour of Dallas. This information was suppressed in order to discredit Hill as a reliable witness.

As a result of this discovery, Jean Hill once again gave interviews on the case. Hill also agreed to work as a technical adviser on Oliver Stone's motion picture, JFK. Two years later Jean Hill published her book on the case, The Last Dissenting Witness.

Jean Hill, who worked as a schoolteacher in Dallas for over twenty years, died on 7th November, 2000.

It's at moments like this that Gary wishes he could post. He sent me this a few seconds ago in response to Jack's post about Jean Hill. He says he never heckled her, but admits he did heckle Charles Crenshaw.

From Gary Mack:

"FALSE! Your memory is worthless, Jack. The event you "remember" had nothing to do with Jean Hill.

The guest was Charles Crenshaw and he was lying about getting a phone call from LBJ.

There was a phone call from Washington, but it wasn't from LBJ.

I happen to have an audio tape of the Jean Hill appearance - which was several years earlier - and I'd be happy to play it for you to refresh your so-called memory.

The event described was the third or fourth time Jean told her

story to one of Jim's classes...and her LAST after the "xxxx"

outburst...which was one of the reasons Jim discontinued

the classes. You can read of this in John Armstrong's H&L

on page 3*...guess who the two loud and obnoxious men were

John refers to. Gary may HAVE a recording of A Jean Hill

performance...but not the one where he called her a xxxx...

twice! My story is true. Why would I make up such a

detailed and false account? I plan to contact Jim Marrs

and get his remembrance of this incident. I don't like being

called a xxxx.

It is true that the two also heckled Dr. Crenshaw when

he said that in the emergency room, he spoke on the phone

to LBJ...but that is another story. Read about it in Crenshaw's

CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE.

John...maybe you should start a thread on Dr. Crenshaw.

Jack

* the incident Armstrong writes about was the heckling by

Mack and Perry of investigator Joe West, who was talking

about Roscoe White and a Mister X (who later turned out

to be James Files").

A Zapruder frame MAY show Jean's elusive dog. It was believed

to be a toy replica of the Shari Lewis LAMBCHOP hand puppet.

QUOTE:

Howdy Jack,

Your account of this outburst in my UTA JFK classs is accurate. I distinctly recall this episode as I was very ashamed over this kind of treatment.

As you know I always tried to treat each of the guests with due consideration and respect. This includes the former FBI fingerprint expert who

fled the class when my students respectfully but persistently tried to pin him down on whether he could tell the difference in fingerprints from a

dead person or a live person, a very significant question considering the funeral home director's statement that the FBI put Oswald's dead hand

on the rifle. It's too bad that Gary seems to suffer memory losses such as when he failed to correct the people on that Discovery Channel

documentary who pointed out an incorrect location for the "Badgeman" figure.

The hand puppet in the cab

in, the LAMBCHOP image, is just sad.

Evidentially, the white gloves that Jacqueline wore play a role

in tracking her actions during the barrage.

I once confused her glove with a piece of skull material in the NIX film,

and her clothing was evidence etc..........

I MET JEAN SIGNING BOOKS OUTSIDE THE ASSASSINATION INFORMATION CENTER ONE AFTERNOON, WHILE I WAS ON MY CROSS COUNTRY TRAIN TRIP INTERVIEWING WINTESSES AND RESEARCHERS. SHE SIGNED A COPY OF HER BOOK AND THANKED ME FOR CONTINUING THE RESEARCH. HER BOOK IS VERY IMPORTANT, NOT ONLY BECAUSE SHE WAS ONE OF THE CLOSEST WITNESS TO THE MURDER, BUT BECAUSE OF HER RELATIONSHIP TO THE MOTORCYCLE COP, THE PHOTO EVIDENCE, AND HER IDENTIFICAITON OF HERBERT PHILBRICK AS HAVING FOREKNOWLEDGE OF THE ASSASSINATION.

WHETHER YOU LIKE A WITNESS OR NOT, WHETHER YOU THINK THEY ARE TELLING THE TRUTH OR NOT, THEY ARE STILL WITNESSES TO A CRIME, WHICH IN NEW JERSEY IS A VERY SENSITIVE AND SIGNIFICANT POSITION, ONE IN WHICH YOU CAN BE ARRESTED FOR INTIMIDATING, HARRASSING AND ESPECIALLY CONFRONTING AND CALLING A WITNESS TO A HOMICIDE A xxxx IN PUBLIC.

BESIDES MACK AND PERRY, CANADIAN RESEARCHER PETER WHITMEY, WHOSE STELLAR WORK IN LOCATING OTHER WITNESSES WAS OUTSTANDING, LOWERED HIMSELF TO DEBUNK AND RIDICULE JEAN HILL, WHO LIKE ALL WINESSES, SHOULD BE CONSIDERED VERY SPECIAL AND TREATED WITH RESPECT AND HONOR. AND THEY SHOULD BE PROTECTED FROM HARRASMENT.

GOD BLESS JEAN HILL AND ALL THE OTHER WITNESSES WHO HAVE PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE FOR SIMPLY TELLING THE TRUTH AS THEY KNEW IT.

After sending the above message, Jim looked back thru his

notes of each class session, and emailed the following addendum:

QUOTE:

Hi Jack,

Yes, Dave Perry and Gary Mack heckled several people who only came to tell their stories. Remember the woman from West Texas who told

how her soldier father got her out of school under curious circumstances and drove to Dallas arriving on 11-22-63 and went in the TSBD to use

the telephone. I found her story most curious and she seemed to be a sincere person with no motivation for telling such a tale. Nothing came of

this story because I could not substantiate her story. But we were all courteous and heard her out, except for Perry and Gary who continually

interrupted her and accused her of lying.

In fact, as I recall, they actually called Jean "a damned xxxx" but I may have that shaded in my failing memory.
