Jorma Mantyla Posted July 6, 2006 Share Posted July 6, 2006 (edited) I am 52 years old and I am working as researcher at the Journalism Research and Development Centre of the Univerity of Tampere, Finland. My special interest is John Stuart Mill's libertarian theory of the press which appeared in On Liberty in 1859. This theory have had effects in my country as it was translated into Finnish in 1891 when Finland was still part of the Russian empire. I am also interested about the background of Mill's teory, i.e. the Victorian society of 1830-50's including Mill's own work as editor of the Westminster Review.
