It provided entertainment for the masses while distracting from the abuses of the emperor. The powers behind the govt have long used DISTRACTION as one of their most powerful propaganda tools. My theory is related to PLANNED MEDIA EVENTS used to distract the public from REALLY IMPORTANT EVENTS. Really important events are pushed to back pages by indiscretions of a congressman. Anthrax is sent to various people, relegating important news to bare mentions. A sex pervert is brought back from Asia to face 10-year old murder charges, and who knows what events of that week were really important? The media is regularly manipulated, sometimes to distract from other things. Next time there is a BIG WORLDWIDE MEDIA EVENT, stop and ask yourself..."is there something really important that this is stealing the headlines from?" Yet, the answer Chertoff gave was stupid and didn’t make sense. Again, why didn’t the government put a ban on these items when they knew the danger months ago? Why? — Because it’s all a damn lie. For sure, you can’t trust Great Britain and the US to tell the truth about anything. They'll tell a lie when the truth sounds better. Consider this, they haven’t ever identified the liquids you can buy at any store to mix up and make a bomb that would blowup an airplane. Someone said you could use Gatorade to blowup a plane, and if you believe that, I got a bridge in Brooklyn for sale. In my opinion, it’s all a hoax to take the bad news off of the atrocities Israel is committing against Lebanon, and to scare the American people into thinking that they are making US safe against the war on terrorism when in fact they are making the whole world unsafe. As a result of the hoax, homes and businesses across England are being searched and 24 people questioned after police say a plot to blow up UK flights to the US was disrupted. Terrorists were in the "final stages" of a plot to simultaneously blow up as many as 10 jets leaving Britain for the U.S., sending the planes and thousands of passengers into the Atlantic Ocean, U.S. Chertoff said. British and Pakistani authorities teamed up to thwart the attacks, and 24 men were arrested in overnight raids in Britain, authorities said. Police are convinced they have detained the key players, but believe the network involved is large and global, but it’s all a big lie to cover their ass! US intelligence officials believe the plotters hoped to stage a practice run followed by actual attacks on up to 10 planes within days. UK police said they could have caused "mass murder on an unimaginable scale" is just another scare tactic. Security chiefs said the group believed to be planning the attack had been under surveillance for some time, but what they didn’t say is that the group was infiltrated by an agent provocateur — just like the Miami seven. US Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said the plot was "in some respects suggestive of al-Qaeda". "They had accumulated and assembled the capabilities that they needed and they were in the final stages of planning for execution," he said. It had only become apparent in the "last two weeks" that the target of the flights was the US, said Chertoff. American broadcaster ABC News reported that five more suspects still at large in Britain were being "urgently sought", citing US sources briefed on the plot. British police declined to comment on the report. 'Unprecedented' surveillance According to US officials, the plan was to take liquid explosives on up to 10 planes with detonators hidden in electronic devices. They said the airlines to be targeted were United, American and Continental, bound for New York, Washington and California. At UK airports on Thursday - with the country on its highest terror alert of "critical" - bottles of water were taken from passengers and mothers asked to taste their babies' milk before it could be taken on to flights. Peter Clarke, the head of Scotland Yard's anti-terrorist branch, said the surveillance involved in disrupting the plot had been "unprecedented" and had involved police forces in the UK and internationally. Sources told the BBC the "principal characters" suspected of being involved in the plot were British-born, some with links to Pakistan. A senior Pakistani security official told the AFP news agency that Pakistani intelligence agencies helped British authorities foil the plot. Foreign ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said: "Pakistan played a very important role in uncovering and breaking this international terrorist network. Besides banning liquids, British police are also banning passengers from carrying electronic key fobs, which have the potential to trigger bombs. 6. Stories are sometimes manufactured to hide nastier issues from public scrutiny. In this case, however, it's surprising that the Republican-friendly media would highlight an issue which is so damaging to the Republicans, unless they plan to limit the electoral damage by claiming the Monica Lewinsky affair was equally scandalous. That's the great thing with these types of CT the logic and the theories can twisted to fit the facts. OK so the Foley scandal was created by anti-Bush Republicans to get him, except that wait, he's not up for election this year and can never be reelected president (effectively ending his career in US politics, this scandal doesn't directly affect him and the scandal could help end the GOP majority in the House and (hopefully) even the Senate which would be bad for all Republicans. OK so the Foley scandal was created by anti-Bush Republicans to get him, except that wait, he's not up for election this year and can never be reelected president (effectively ending his career in US politics, this scandal doesn't directly affect him and the scandal could help end the GOP majority in the House and (hopefully) even the Senate which would be bad for all Republicans. I'm in the strange predicament of agreeing with Len here. While I agree with Jack's Circus Maximus theory, I think the Foley scandal might be different. Under normal circumstances, I would expect this would result in the end of Republican dominance of the House and Senate, but these are not normal times. Google IMPEACH BUSH for details. I did what you said Jack and couldn't find anything that supported your claim. If there really are such groups perhaps you could provide us with the links. Since Cheney is closely tied to Busn it is hard to imagine the latter getting elected under any circumstances let alone if he had replaced an impeached Bush. Considering that the GOP controlls boith houses impeachment and removal of Bush is unlikely a 2/3 majority in the Senate is required to remove a president. Ford who almost got elected in '76 was a different storey, he was in no way associated with Nixon and Watergate (except for the pardon). Who would have though that fertalzer (manure) could demolish a building? . Wow an article that cites no sources how compelling! Jack Oh great another article whose author fails to document his claims. As sources he normally cites his own articles which in turn cite other articles he wrote or provide no documentation. He did list a few "mainstream media" sources but they didn't document his most contentious claims. He claimed for example (in one of the linked articles I think) that the CVR's from flights 77 and 93 were blank which is false of course. The official story at the time he wrote that was that the CVR from flight 77 was too badly damaged to recover any data and that the transcript of flight 93's was not going to be released until the Moussaui trial. One thing he conveniently ignores is that most suicide bombers prepare videos before hand explaining their motives, credit is taken by the group(s) responsible and they (in the occupied territories at least) are celebrated as heroes.
