New Australian site for teachers

Recommended Posts

One of the young teacher members of my union has recently created a new website called "Australian Teachers". I think she's done a wonderful job and would like to encourage people to look at it and perhaps recommend it to other teachers, particularly younger ones looking for help from other teachers. If she feels it's supported, I'm sure she will develop it and feel it was worth the initial effort.

I had a sneaking suspicion that e-mail eventually found it's way into my inbox via yourself jaywalker - and I can't thank you enough.

I have so many ideas through which to develop my site but I want to be sure that the money and more importantly, the effort are not going to be wasted before I put even more effort into it. Promotion is the number one hardest thing I've found in this venture of mine, but in any case, I'm enjoying further developing my passion for all things IT at the moment and using my other passion, education, to help me develop my skills.

Thank you for your support and you've made me smile incredibly after a difficult and tiring day.

And again, thankyou John for your generous offer of support as well. I shall attend to that asap.

I would also recommend you add the URL to your signature (see My Controls). This will then appear every time you post and will help your ranking in second-generation search-engines like Google.

Thanks John - that was my next step :)

I got a bit too interested in a number of discussions going here.

As it is I should be doing some other planning ... but I'm excited to find another teaching forum with active participants :)

This may be of interest:

The non-profit Kindersite Project needs your associations help. Our mission is

to understand how, or even if, computers and technology should be introduced

as a tool of education for young children.

An academic research will be based around the existing, child-safe, Kindersite

website at http://www.kindersite.org The Kindersite is a free resource for parents

and teachers with 1,000s of links to graded content suitable for 2 to 6 year

olds. The site is already being used as a resource by educationalists in about

95 countries, 167 participating schools in 28 countries are listed on the site.

You can help this important project by:

1. Permitting a mention or article to be included in your regular journal, magazine

or newsletter. I would be happy to write a piece for you, please let me know

how long and if you want about the subject of 'Introducing computers to children'

or about the Kindersite itself.

2. Bringing the site to the attention of your membership in additional ways

3. Testing the site yourself – I ask users to register (its free) as this will

enable us to carry out the research methodologically

4. Adding a link to your website (if appropriate) – I have logos for your use

at http://www.kindersite.org/links.htm

The Kindersite has gained the endorsement of many educationalists for two reasons: 1. It's mission to try to understand if computers are 'good' for small children

or not by using a large scale global research

2. For a free resource that helps small children, with their caregivers or educators,

to use Internet content safely and easily

There is a lot of information on the website about the project, some of which

is in 6 languages, but if this does not cover all your questions please feel

free to ask me anything.

With many grateful thanks for any help you can give to the project.

  • 3 weeks later...

Thanks heaps John for including me in the newsletter.

I've been a bit busy with the new school term starting to get into the site updates at the moment, but plenty more things coming soon.

I appreciate your support.
