Just can't get enough Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Anybody ever stop to notice where Arlen Specter hails from?

Why, he's Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania.

And where did Richard A. Sprague, that White Knight of Conspiracy Theorists, HSCA's Chief Counsel hail from—who oh-so-valiantly tilted at windmills for millions of tax dollars, mounted a big "fight" with CIA that accomplished a net of nothing, then went home?

Yes, he was from the City of Brotherly Love, the Birthplace of Our Nation: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

And it just tears at my heart strings to hear what the poor man said after the fact: If he had to do it all over again he would probe "Oswald's ties to the Central Intelligence Agency." Well, of course he would, bless his heart.

Of course he was then replaced by someone who told us all the Mafia did it. Well, of course they did.Where else would CIA even think of establishing their headquarters for the murder of a president and an American coup but right where it all started? In fact, I would be very surprised if crucial exchanges weren't conducted right in public view on the grounds of Independence Hall.

I'd love to hear from Bill Kelly on this subject. Meanwhile, more keeps pouring out in a flood. Ashton

THE QUAKER CITY CONNECTIONS – CROSSROADS TO CONSPIRACY

– By Bill Kelly

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, after Dallas and New Orleans, is the one city, if not where more JFK assassination intrigues actually took place, where many of the primary players spent more of their quality time than anywhere else. Philly is the Crossroads of the Conspiracy.

Home of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Liberty Bell, the Stars & Stripes, the U.S.S. Olympia of Spanish American War fame, and the 2000 Republican National Convention, Philadelphia was founded by First Quaker William Penn and is the hometown of Tom Paine, Ben Franklin, Arthur Young, Cummings Catherwood, James Bond, Frank Forini Sturgis, Angelo Bruno, Dr. De De Wynne DeMohrenschildt Sharples, Igor Vaganov, Steve Keenan, Robert Lipka, Amil Jamal and Ira Einhorn.

Philadelphia is where you get a good cheesesteak, cream cheese, scrapple, Tastycake, water ice and a lawyer, when you really need one. Among the Philadelphia lawyers who became players in the JFK assassination drama are John J. McCloy, Arlen Specter, William Coleman, Vincent Salandria, Richard Schweiker and Richard Sprague.

Philadelphia's Main Line is where Michael Paine and Priscilla Johnson (McMillan) matriculated at Quaker colleges, Swarthmore and Bryn Mawr, where Michael Paine met Ruth Hyde when she was teaching at a Quaker school, and where Michael's stepfather Arthur Young invented the original Bell 47A Helicopter.

Philadelphia is also the home of Warren Commission critic Vincent Salandria [see: "False Mystery" an Anthology of Salandria's work] and the dateline of such journalists as Joe Goulden, the reporter who "made up" Oswald's FBI number, and investigative journalists Gaeton Fonzi and Mike Mallow, both of whom wrote numerous articles on the Kennedy assassination for Philadelphia Magazine.

Philadelphia is where Lee Harvey Oswald told Ruth Paine he was going to relocate to and work shortly before he went to Mexico City, and there are four Philadelphia addresses in Oswald's notebook, each an interesting lead worth pursuing.

Philadelphia is where President JFK visited on a political campaign stop on October 31, 1963, Halloween, at the time Diem was killed in Vietnam during a coup d'etat and when Castro was supposed to be shot by assassins in Cuba from the CIA ship the "Rex." If Diem, Castro and JFK were all killed by assassins on the same day, would anyone consider it a coincidence?

Kennedy rode through Philadelphia in an open limo in a short motorcade witnessed by my cousin, who then worked for the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin. After seeing JFK drive past him, on his way to a Democratic fundraiser at Convention Hall, my cousin walked into the newsroom and said that he didn't think the President was going to live much longer. He expressed this thought, not because of any foreknowledge of a plot, but because of the total lack of security. [After becoming a Catholic priest, Father Steve "Skip" Haynes wrote a sermon about the effort to free the government files and the need for open records in an open society.]

Another suspect in the Tippit murder, Igor Vaganov, was a East European who moved from Philadelphia to Oak Cliff with his girlfriend on the week before the assassination. He drove a red Ford, had a rifle, and was driving around Oak Cliff when Tippitt was murdered. The evening before, Vaganov's girlfriend called home to Philadelphia to say that she thought Vaganov was going to do something radical and was scared.

Tippet's killer discarded a jacket that could have also originated in Philadelphia, at a department store that was one of the few outlets that sold that line of jackets at the time.

The Warren Commission investigation, led by such Philadelphians lawyers like Arlen Spector and William Coleman, never got to the department store, the four addresses in Oswald's notebook or to Arthur Young, whose name appears, as far as I can tell, only once in the primary assassination literature. Gerald Ford, in his book on the assassination, notes quite innocently that Marina Oswald was asked by Ruth Hyde Paine to respond to her offer to move to Irving by writing in care of ARTHUR YOUNG, PAOLI, PENNSYLVANIA.

Ruth Hyde Paine, on her summer vacation, drove her kids to the Paine family retreat off the coast of Massachusetts, then stopped to spend some time with Michael's mother and stepfather, Ruth Forbes Paine Young and Arthur, the inventor of the Bell Helicopter. Both espoused Quaker beliefs, and assisted Michael in obtaining the job at Bell Hell in Texas, to where they relocated after leaving Philadelphia.

Marina wrote to Ruth c/o Arthur Young, Paoli, Pa., and the letter got through, since Ruth stopped in New Orleans on her way home and picked up Marina, the kids and the alleged assassination rifle and drove them to Texas while Oswald went to Mexico City. Arthur and Ruth Young and Michael and Ruth Paine professed Quaker beliefs, Ruth Paine taught at a Quaker school and they supported Cord Meyer's World Federalists movement for a world government and a strong United Nations.

Another wealthy Main Line Quaker philanthropist, Dr. Dee Dee Sharples, now a Temple University Trustee, was married to George DeMohrenschildt, one of the accused assassin's best friends.

The last person President Kennedy talked with on the telephone from his Ft. Worth hotel suite was the patron of the arts who decorated the hotel room walls with fine works of art, who happened to be from Philadelphia and friends with Ruth and Michael Paine.

Besides home to the Paines, Youngs and Sharples, Paoli is also the small town home of Cuban exile, Enrique Menocal, Castro's childhood friend, who helped found the Cuban Aid Relief, which was sponsored by the CIA's Catherwood Fund. One stop down the Main Line train track from Paoli is the home of Cummins Catherwood, whose Catherwood Foundation served as a conduit for the funds earmarked for covert CIA operations, some of which included Latin American Spanish language news organizations, the international division of the Columbia University School of Journalism, the Cuban Aid Relief, Catholic Welfare and a multitude of operations in the Philippines, Cuba and Central America. [see articles: The Catherwood Foundation; The Cuban Aid Relief; and Julio Fernandez.].

Philadelphia was the primary dateline for such reporters as Joe Goulden, who "made up" Oswald's FBI undercover agent number, and investigative journalists Gaeton Fonzi and Mike Mallowe, who wrote numerous articles on the JFK assassination for Philadelphia Magazine.

It was Fonzi's magazine articles that caught the attention of Sen. Richard Schweiker (R. Pa.) when he was named to the Schweiker-(Gary) Hart (JFK Assassination) subcommittee of the Church Intelligence Committee investigation into illegal intelligence agency activities. It was during his leg work for that sub-committee that Fonzi first interviewed Alpha 66 leader Antonio Vechina and his association with CIA case officer "Maurice Bishop."

Both Hart and Schweiker were taken care of, Hart exposed for his "Monkey Business" with Donna Rice, while Ronald Regan prematurely named Schweiker his VP running mate, effectively taking him out of the game.

The Church Committee Report however, did help spark the creation of the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA), which was given the task of investigating the assassinations of President Kennedy and Martin Luther King. The first chief counsel to the HSCA was Philadelphia attorney Richard Sprague, who had previously investigated the assassination of United Mine Workers Union President Tony Boyle and successfully prosecuted his rival Jock Yablonski for the murder.

When asked about Oswald's motives, Sprague, the son of two psychologists, replied that he wasn't interested in whether Oswald was nursed at his mother's breast, "my approach to motive is more direct." Sprague began to conduct two simultaneous homicide investigations, with the intention of solving the crimes, and was directly removed from his office and replaced by G. Robert Blakey, a Cornell organized crime expert who redirected the investigation away from the intelligence connections towards the mob.

When Sprague was the chief counsel, I hand delivered him a package that contained a copy of Jim Braden's 1948 Camden, N.J. arrest report, but Sprague never passed his files on to Blakey when he took over, and as far as I can tell, the Assassinations Records Review Board never obtained Sprague's files either.

More recently, two active Philadelphia cases have a bearing on the JFK assassination, Ira Einhorn and Robert Steven Lipka.

Hippie Guru Ira Einhorn was indicted, and later convicted in abstensia of killing his girlfriend, former Texas cheerleader Holly Maddux. Einhorn was a protégé of Arthur Young, the inventor, and blames the CIA and KGB for killing Holly. Einhorn took off when his attorney, Arlen Spector, got him out on bail, but he was recently recaptured in France, where he had been fighting extradition back to Philly to be retried. Eventually returned, he was convicted again.

Robert Steven Lipka was a NSA clerk at Fort Meade, Md. whose job was to shred highly classified documents, but instead, beginning in September 1965, he began selling them to the KGB. Lipka sold enough docs to the Ruskies to retire and go back to school, earn a degree and teach school in Millersville, Pennsylvania.

It appeared he got away with it until sometime after March, 1992, when KGB archivist Vasile Mitrokhin defected to the British MI5 and exposed Lipka as a means of establishing his bonafides. When the British passed on the information to the FBI, an undercover FBI agent slipped up to Lipka at a bar and began to rope him in before he was officially arrested in March, 1996.

Although Mitrokhin was not mentioned as the source for the arrest, Lipka admitted his betrayal at a court hearing, during which he also said that from NSA records he learned the name of President Kennedy's assassin.

When asked by a reporter what was the name of the assassin in the NSA reports, Lipka replied: "Luis Angel Castillo."

Lipka was sentenced to prison, the Castillo file remained withheld at the Ford Library until earlier this year, while the NSA continues to insist that it has no records of evidentiary value concerning the assassination of President Kennedy.

Then there's Steve Keenan, the man on the motorcycle, a college student from Philadelphia who frequented the Quaker Casa de Amegos hostel in Mexico City who reportedly gave Oswald a ride to the Cuban embassy on the back of his motorcycle.

In the summer of 1963, at the same time Lee Harvey Oswald was handing out Fair Play for Cuba leaflets in New Orleans and getting arrested with members of the anti-Castro Cuban DRE, someone later identified as Oswald was seen handing out pro-Castro leaflets at Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia

Philadelphia PA, the Crossroads of Conspiracy, and home of the Quakers, journalists, lawyers and spies and keys to the assassination of President Kennedy.

Good posts. Another Philadelphia connection, concerning Philip J. Corso. "Along with General Charles Willoughby, security chief for oil billionaire H. L. Hunt at the time of the assassination, Corso was a member of a right wing fraternal organization known as "The Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem", more popularly known as the "Shickshinny Knights", because they were headquartered in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania. The group claimed to be the original Knights of Malta, a fraternal order that dated back to the Crusades." Shickshinny is not far from Philadelphia. This quote is from Michael Bensons book. Just thought I would toss that out there FWIW.

In addition to my last post: See Lee Formans "UFO Connections" thread, and read about Philip Corso. He elaborates about his connection, and many others involved in their secret "society" in depth. thanks-smitty

Maybe a little outdated, and somewhat off base but, lets not forget the "Philadelphia Experiment". Some very weird tie ins there! -smitty

For those coming in late and encountering references to UFOs and the "Philadelphia Experiment," I'd like to make a note that this thread began with, and contains, very tangible and documented connections between central and key figures surrounding the Kennedy assassination and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

It also contains a record of a rather odd trip at a significant period in 1963 by the wife of CIA's James McCord, featuring a stop in Philadelphia before flying to Dallas, then a return some time later to Philadelphia, while James McCord purportedly was attached to the CIA Manhattan field office.

It's noted where the thread is being taken.

Ashton,

Don't be so dismissive of the UFO, Philadelphia Experiment and Skennectecty Knights connections without having read them, as UFOs are more than a diversionary dismissal, the Philly experiment concerned a time traveling weapons affecting military battles, and the SKnights are mentioned in Dick Russell's TMWKTM. Corso is a military historian who is a major source of recognized disinformaiton on JFK assassination.

The UFOs were used as a cover for the U2s and Nazi Paperclip ops, and thus appear in JFK assassination as an overlap of their networks.

The SKnights are also, like Yale frats of interest, located near other central nervous sites - The US Army War College for instance - and Philly Central.

Project Bluebook, the USAF UFO unit, was commanded by Gen. Cabal, brother of the mayor of Dallas.

Why not include that in your Wayback Machine? - which I think a very important project and from which I anticipate great things.

Appling Able Danger Data Mining techniques to the JFK assassination will automatically take you to where its taken others decades to get to.

And its also quite apparent that Meta-Events like the JFK Ass, Watergate and Iran-Contra are related by more than just the same players.

Frank Forini Sturgis enlisted in the USMC in Philly, his hometown, also home to LICOVY3- the Philly student in Mexico City who was a KGB-CIA double-agent.

I think more can be learned by focusing on a few days in time and the inter-relationships of certain people than a flood of all the data available.

Everything you named is in the "Wayback Machine" and more, including all the roots and rootings of the Robertson Panel, which I could lay out here chapter and verse. But I'm not.

I'm not dismissive of any of it. I'm selective about it, and at the moment, with this thread, I'm trying to get some useful and practical information concerning the overlay of two Gladys Palmers, two predictions of the Kennedy assassination, De Mohrenschildt, Paine, McCord, Oswald, and other very immediately pertinent vectors crossing in Philadelphia in 1963.

And at the moment, that doesn't include, for me, a chase off into UFOland or back to the Philadelphia experiment—both of which, if you haven't noticed, the CIA has fully staked out and controlled with disinformation nut-case associations. If you haven't noticed, try the internet. I also am not particularly interested—in this thread—in discussing the win/loss/tie record of the Eagles in 1963. (It was 2/10/2, by the way.) That doesn't mean others can't. But it also doesn't mean I can't at least attempt to keep what I started here on the rails.

Speaking of which: I'm just going to note here for the record in this thread that Arlen Specter and Richard Sprague both were in the District Attorney's office in Philadelphia in 1963, Specter being Assistant D.A. from 1959 through to 1964, Sprague having joined the D.A.'s office in 1958. What a cozy little place it must have been.

Frank Forini Sturgis enlisted in the USMC in Philly, his hometown, also home to LICOVY3- the Philly student in Mexico City who was a KGB-CIA double-agent.

Thanks.

From the clipping files of the now defunct Philadelphia Evening Bulletin [now located at the Urban Archives, Paley Library, Temple University in Philadelphia], it was reported on November 28, 1947 edition that, “A petition for a non-profit corporation to be known as the Catherwood Foundation was filed in common pleas court today…to establish a fund, or funds, the income from which will be used exclusively for religious, scientific, literary and educational purposes.”

With an address in Bryn Marr, Pennsylvania, [14 Elliott Ave., Suite 10, Bryn Marr, 19010 / (215) 525-3720] on the Philadelphia Main Line suburban train route, the Catherwood Foundation was originally directed by Cummins Catherwood, his wife Mrs. Ellen Cowen Catherwood, his sister, Mrs. Charles G. Chaplin, Othelia Aarnolt, William Hamilton and I.F. Dixon-Wainright.

Independently wealthy from a family inheritance that was accumulated in the munitions industry during the industrial revolution, Cummins Catherwood married the former Ellen Cowen Coats and lived in an estate they called “Baja Sumantaga,” an East Indian word that means, “welcome weary traveler.” Along with his family, Catherwood was quoted as saying that golf, sailing, bridge, skiing and travel were his unchanging interests.”

During World War II Catherwood went on a special air mission to Germany, about which he later said, “I had a feeling that much could be done by individuals towards international understanding that couldn’t be done by governments.”

The main feature of the Catherwood Foundation is the Catherwood Fund, ostensibly a philanthropic fund; it also served as a conduit for the funding of covert CIA operations during the Cold War.

Catherwood’s sister, Mrs. Charles G. Chaplin, one of the Fund’s directors, knew Peter Fleming, the British MI6 agent and brother of Ian Fleming, author of the 007 James Bond novels. Peter was an amateur ornithologist and is said to have been one of the models for Fleming’s fictional hero, whose name was appropriated from James Bond, the renowned Philadelphia ornithologist and author of the classic ornithological work, “Birds of the West Indies.”

Ian Fleming must have also known or knew about Catherwood, as he based one of his villains – Milton Krest of the “Hildebrand Rarity” [From: “For Your Eyes Only”] on Catherwood’s unique profile. Fleming quotes “Krest” explaining the Foundation system to James Bond while they are aboard Krest’s yacht fishing for rare species. “Ya see, fellers, it’s like this. In the states we have this foundation system for lucky guys that got plenty of dough and don’t happen to want to pay it into Uncle Sam’s Treasury. You make a Foundation – like this one, the Krest Foundation – for charitable purposes – charitable to anyone, to kids, sick folk, the cause of science – you just give the money away to anyone or anything except yourself and your dependents and you escape tax on it.”

“So I put a matter of ten million dollars into the Krest Foundation, and since I happened to like yachting and seeing the world, I built this yacht with two million of the money and told the Smithsonian that I would go to any part of the world and collect specimens for them. So that makes me a scientific expedition, see?”

In 1948 Catherwood had a yacht built in New England to his personal specifications, “The Vigilant,” and sailed frequently to the Caribbean with friends, associates and on occasion, with some scientists who collected specimens for the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences and the Smithsonian. On one particular Vigilant expedition in 1948, Catherwood was accompanied by ornithologist James Bond, who collected rare bird species on the various out islands they visited.

But Catherwood’s fund was not just a tax loophole, as Fleming implied, but rather, it also served as a secret conduit for funding covert CIA operations. David Wise and Thomas Ross, in their groundbreaking book “The Invisible Government,” (Vintage, 1977, p. 247n), exposed the CIA’s network of Blue Blood benefactors when they reported that, “…conduits for the CIA money included the Cathewood Foundation.”

Since then, other writers, such as Joseph B. Smith (“Portrait of a Cold Warrior”), have mentioned the CIA use of the Catherwood Foundation as a front for CIA activities as well. The activities of the Catherwood Foundation created a web of intrigue that extended behind the Iron Curtain into Russia, as well as Cuba, the Philippines and Vietnam. Although the full extent of these activities have yet to be publicly explored, and much of it is still classified and kept from the public record, the Soviets knew about the secret relationship between the CIA and the philanthropic foundations from the very beginning.

Created by the National Security Act of 1947, an outline of the charter of the CIA was written by Ian Fleming when he visited Washington with his boss, Admiral Godfey, the Chief of British Naval Intelligence.

The British MI6 liaison with the CIA and FBI in Washington after the war was Harold Adrian “Kim” Philby, the notorious KGB double-agent who wrote his memoirs from Russia, “My Silent War” (Grove Press), in which he describes the meetings he attended with Frank Wisner, the head of the CIA’s Office of Policy Coordination, responsible for Covert Operations and Dirty Tricks.

According to Philby, “Wisner expiated on one of his favorite themes – the need to camouflage the source of secret funds supplied to apparently respectable bodies in which we were interested…”

Philby quoted Wisner as saying, “…It is essential to secure the overt cooperation of people with conspicuous access to wealth in their own right.”

Cummins Catherwood was one of those people, and his Catherwood Foundation was one of those respectable bodies.

In July, 1956 Catherwood, like the fictional Milton Krest, went “looking for new fish” off the Bahamian reefs. In May 1958 Catherwood announced that he had given financial aid to projects in the mental health field at the Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital. He also gave money to the Granary Fund of Boston, which was directed by George H. Kidder, who is listed in “Who’s Who” as “with General Counsel, CIA, 1952-1954,” as well as being on the board of directors of Collins Radio, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

In his book, “Portrait of a Cold Warrior,” Joe Smith wrote: “…former ambassador to the Philippines Myron Cowen joined Cummins Catherwood in persuading a few staunch friends of the Philippines, such as Gen. Leland S. Hobes, ex-Joint Military Advisory Group chief; Charles V. Griffiths, the publishers, and Gen. Hugh Casey of the board of Schenley Distillers, to set up the Committee for Philippine Action in Development, Reconstruction and Education. Somehow, this just happened to form the acronym COMPADRE – the one word that held more meaning than any other for a Filipino. Gabe Kaplin was resident director of COMPADRE, on the spot to carry out all sorts of good works, backed by a bankroll the size of which Filipinos could only guess.”

The Catherwoods enjoyed traveling as well. In March 1957, Mrs. Catherwood toured North Africa with the former first lady, Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt as guests of the Sultan of Morocco. In June 1960, Catherwood and his wife traveled to Helsini, Finland, taking the Oswald Route on the first leg of their journey to the USSR and behind the Iron Curtain. On their return, Mrs. Catherwood was quoted as saying, “Moscow is as drab as Akron, Ohio, but Leningrad is glorious.”

As Main Line Blue Blood personages, the Catherwoods frequently made the society pages. On March 27, 1970 the Catherwoods attended the wedding of the season, between Princess Jane Obolensky of Grosse Point, Michigan and Dean Rucker, with the reception being held at Great Harbor Cay, owned by Canadian Midas Lou Chesler.

One of Catherwood’s corporations, Visions, had offices in New York, England and Central America, providing Latin American publishers with a Spanish language news and feature wire service. On December 26, 1977 the New York Times reported that, “Another major foreign news organization that CIA officials said they once subsidized was Vision, the weekly news magazine that is distributed throughout Europe and Latin America. However, none of those associated with the founding of Vision or its management over the years said they ever had any indications that the CIA had put money into the magazine.” Nicaraguan dictator Anastasio Somoza bought into Visions after the CIA connections became known.

Catherwood also sponsored the International Division of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In December 1960, Nicolas Chatelain, the U.S. correspondent for the Paris daily Fiagaro, became the first recipient of the Columbia/Catherwood Award for journalists. The second recipient, John Bertram Oaks of the New York Times, used the occasion to urge support for French President Charles deGaul against the revolt of the French generals in Algeria.

Among those aspiring foreign student journalists to receive grants from the Catherwood Foundation was Leona Shluder, then 23 years old, of Rio de Janerro, Brazil, who was quoted as saying she, “was impressed especially with the news coverage given President Kennedy’s assassination.” Indeed.

The Catherwood Foundation also financially supported the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, including the Dallas parish to which Marina Oswald had her children baptized, possibly without the knowledge of her husband, Lee Harvey, the accused assassin of President Kennedy.

Another organization of interest that was funded in its entity by the Catherwood Fund is the Cuban Aid Relif, established to assist Cuban refugees, specifically professionals who had previously supported the Castro revolution against Batista.

For those not in on the joke...

THE WAYBACK MACHINE (named after station WABC) was invented by Dr. Peabody (a dog)

who used it to show his pet boy Sherman how historical happenings really happened:

It was a TV cartoon series about a time-travelling dog and his pet boy, Sherman. Using Peabody's "Wayback Machine", the pair would take jaunts through history, and usually wind up instrumental in making events come out "right", i.e., the way they're depicted in history books. The 91 four-and-a-half-minute episodes always ended with atrocious puns.

Peabody was one of the back-up segments in several of Ward's cartoon shows, starting with Rocky & His Friends. It continued when, in 1961, that half-hour series switched from ABC to NBC and was retitled The Bullwinkle Show. From 1964-67, reruns of it became part of The Hoppity Hooper Show, which aired on ABC, Saturday mornings. Finally, episodes were re-packaged into The Dudley Do-Right Show, which was on ABC in the 1969-70 season. Nowadays, it's seen as part of the Bullwinkle show on Cartoon Network.

The cultured voice of the dog, Peabody, was provided by co-producer Bill Scott, whose other voice credits include Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right, and Cap'n Crunch's arch-enemy Jean LaFoot. (And by the way, Peabody is named after Scott's pet pooch.) It's widely believed that Sherman's falsetto was provided by June Foray (Rocky's voice), but this is incorrect — Sherman was actually voiced by character actor Walter Tetley, who had earlier done the voice of the Walter Lantz studio's Andy Panda. Foray was the voice of most female characters, while the male historical figures were done by Paul Frees, voice of Ludwig von Drake, Dinky Duck and Boris Badenov.

Ted Key, the cartoonist behind Hazel, whose brother Leonard worked with Jay Ward, is credited with having created Peabody. Actually, his main contribution was the dog that had a boy, rather than vice versa. The rest of the scenario was added in development, with a few ideas from other proposed cartoons thrown in. As it wound up, it owed quite a bit to a series of vignettes that appeared in the 1950s and '60s in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. "Through Time and Space with Ferdinand Feghoot", by "Grendel Briarton" (a pseudonym — and anagram — of author Reginald Bretnor) placed its eponymous hero in a wide variety of historical and science-fictional settings, usually as an excuse to deliver a pun at the end. Take away the futuristic settings and add a dog and his boy, and Feghoot becomes Peabody.

Whatever its source, the Peabody cartoons are well remembered by the generation that first watched them. "Set the Wayback Machine" has become a familiar phrase for recalling times gone by.

Thanks Jack,

I never could have explained that.

While I don't know what the capbability is of Asthon's machine, as for the contemporary Wayback datamining machine used by the Defense Intelligence Analysis Center, according to Peter Lance (Triple Cross - Data Mining for Terrorists - p.326), it worked like this:

"Specialized search bots (often called 'spider') would scour the Internet around the clock, searching open-source material for linkages relating to al Qaeda. Sourcing everything from Islamic chat rooms to news stories, utility bills, visa applications, and financial records, teh system harvested vast amounts of data quickly. Then, using sophisticated programs such as Starlight, Parentage, and Spire, it was pared down, separating out unrelated figures while honing in on linkages that tracked back directly to al Qaeda and its associated groups."

"The data was then represented visually in 'link charts,' usiong a high-end graphics program called Analyst Notebook...showed a direct connection between al-Qaeda's leadership and the Ali Mohamed-trained cell responsible for the Kahane, murder, the WTC bombing, and the Day of Terror plot..."

The Able Danger data mining unit also pinpointed Brooklyn as the center of the cell's activity, exactly where the Blind Sheik's mosque was located.

"Data mining is incredibly important," says terrorism authority Steven Emerson. "The more sophisticated the organization, the [greater] the number of plyaers, the more impossible it is to do regular human computing, so it really requires a sophisticated database software that can spit out the connections based on addresses, phone numbers, corporate connections, or even familiar relationships."

The Able Danger unit was located at the Land Informaiton Warfare Activity (LIWA) at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, known as "spook central."

"You would ask them, for example, to look at Khalid Shaikh Mohammed," says Anthony Shaffer, "and these search engines would scour the Internet 24/7 looking at any number of open-source databases, from credit reporting agencies to court records and news stories to Lloyds of London insurance records. You name it. Once a known associate of KSM was found, they would go through the same process for that individual."

While I don't know the capabilities of Aston's program, it is surely a welcome additon to the research, especially the chronology capabilities, since the assassination was most certainly the work of a highly centralized intelligence network - cabal, it will take a similar counter-intelligence Task Force to unmask them.

I'm going to post below the same message that I just posted in the thread Bill Kelly started on MKNAOMI, because these Pennsylvania trails, including and primarily concerned with Philadelphia, cross and overlap in dizzying ways, and I believe this information is crucially important and should be in both of these threads.

With apologies, here is that message just as I posted it there:

Operation Mosquito [etc., excellent information]

Thanks very much to you and Bill for this information. This has legs, kids.

I'm going to get to an interesting likely connection to MKNAOMI, Operation Mosquito, and even—yes—Pennsylvania in this message, but bear with me please for several paragraphs, first, about the activities of George DeMohrenschildt and Clemard Joseph Charles in May 1963.

From information I'm receiving in dribs and drabs, it's beginning to look like this thread may have a great deal indeed to do with Clemard Joseph Charles being "in a fine frame of mind" on Monday, 6 May 1963 in New York City, during his four or five hour meeting with CIA New York (at which James McCord, it seems, almost certainly was present), because Clemard Joseph Charles had just "received a promise from Jerry W. Johnston, assistant Vice President, the Chase Manhattan [bank], for a million dollar loan." This was for "business ventures" in Haiti—all associated with George DeMohrenschildt, of course. One of the two "conditions" for the loan (the other entirely phony and immaterial, as is proved by later documents) was "a 90% guarantee of the loan by the Agency for International Development." The acronym for that CIA front, of course, is "AID." Don't you just love it.

Compare the above ebullient demeanor of Clemard Joseph Charles in his 6 May 1963 meeting with CIA New York to the description supplied by Ms. Dorothe Matlack (a.k.a. Dorothy Matlack) of Clemard Joseph Charles in his meeting the very next day—Tuesday, 7 May 1963—first with her, and subsequently with one or more CIA representatives (including a "Mr. Green") at the Hotel Willard in Washington, D. C:

  • When the HSCA interviewed her about the meeting, Dorothe Matlack "described Clemard Joseph Charles as 'frantic and frightened.'" ...Dorothe Matlack said she felt George DeMohrenschildt dominated Clemard Joseph Charles in some way. Dorothe Matlack said that, despite George DeMohrenschildt's subterfuge—that he and Clemard Joseph Charles were in the jute business together—she did not believe this to be the real reason for George DeMohrenschildt's presence at that meeting: "I knew the Texan wasn't there to sell hemp." The HSCA reported that the CIA maintained contact with Clemard Joseph Charles after this meeting." —A.J. Weberman Nodule 10

Yeah, I just bet they did.

The CIA had further contact with Clemard Joseph Charles two days later, on 9 May 1963, at National Airport in Washington, D.C. There, Charles was described as being "nattily dressed in a gray silk suit," outbound with DeMohrenschildt, purportedly for Chicago. But DeMohrenschildt is known to have gone to Philadelphia, so apparently Charles did, too. (This is not of record anywhere and was brought out in the timelining of these events.)

Without going into all the details at the moment, which several people are working on organizing, this is looking like it has everything to do with a covert operation being run on JFK at the exact same time by CIA and Bundy that culminates in a Top Secret meeting between Bundy and JFK just 11 days later—on Monday, 20 May 1963—resulting in an order for the Ambassador of Haiti to be recalled to Washington, D.C. (memorialized in National Security Action Memorandum No. 246, written by Bundy on Thursday, 23 May 1963).

Just two days after the meeting, on Wednesday, 22 May 1963, an unnamed Charge is sent to Haiti, purportedly to attend Duvalier's "self-coronation." (There is no record so far found in the State Department docs of who this Charge is, but stay tuned...)

Just four days later, on Sunday, 26 May 1963 (one month to the day after the phony staged attempted "kidnapping" of Duvalier's children, almost certainly a CIA op), U.S. Ambassador to Haiti Thurston is recalled to Washington, D.C. for "consultation," leaving the U.S. Embassy in Haiti in control of the Charge d'Affaires. Thurston will not be returned to Haiti.

And just four days after that, on Thursday, 30 May 1963, DeMohrenschildt arrived in Dallas, hastily packed up his belongings, and tore off to Haiti, arriving on Sunday, 2 June 1963. The U.S. Embassy in Haiti of course now was in control of the unknown Charge d'Affaires.

This is a very, very dirty mess, and the timeline reveals that JFK was being kept in the dark and played like a lute by CIA, State, and his own national security advisor McGeorge Bundy.

Whoever the anonymous person was that e-mailed Greg Parker and said something to the effect that "the key to the assassination is Clemard Charles" probably knew just exactly what they were talking about—which brings me back to MKNAOMI and Operation Mosquito.

Consider these few data and the dates from a timeline of AIDS development and CIA connections:

  • In 1962, under the cover of cancer research, the United States charts a path to commit premeditated murder, the "Special Virus" program begins on February 12th. Dr. Len Hayflick sets up a U.S. mycoplasma laboratory at Stanford University. Many believe the "Special Virus" program began in November 1961 with a Phizer [sic-Pfizer] contract.
Beginning in 1963 and for every year thereafter, the "Special Virus" program conducted annual progress reviews at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA. The annual meetings are representative of the aggressive nature in which the United States pursued the development of AIDS.

What that timeline doesn't say is that the facility in Hershey, Pennsylvania is the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Penn State having 20 campuses all over Pennsylvania, including the Delaware County campus in Philadelphia.

Finally, I'll mention that I have information, pending confirmation, that Haiti was the source of the first known heterosexual transmission of AIDS, and has a history of a very heavy concentration of AIDS.

All of this information hasn't been fully processed and evaluated and more is coming in from a variety of sources very rapidly, but this is germane to several current threads and I thought it important to get this information, even raw, into this one right away.

Ashton,

If memory serves me correctly, the alliance between the Hershey Medical Center and Penn State is a relatively recent event -- perhaps the mid-late 1990's... I don't know with whom, if anybody, HMC was aligned prior to that. Again, going from memory, various medicare/medicade reimbursement changes in the early 90's hit a number of hospitals very hard. Many had to reduce force, some closed, others merged as a result. I believe that this was the impetus for the eventual merger and association with Penn State.

What that timeline doesn't say is that the facility in Hershey, Pennsylvania is the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Penn State having 20 campuses all over Pennsylvania, including the Delaware County campus in Philadelphia.

Only in the Education Forum. :tomatoes Thanks, Frank.

Now does anybody know the spark plug gap for a '49 Austin Healey Silverstone? Just curious.
