Thomas H. Purvis
Thomas,Let's not forget that The Duke was photographed with Lee Oswald. James That would be another photo which I have not seen! However, I was aware that John Wayne was being "backed" by William D. Pawley and that Gerry Hemming possibly knows more about this connection than has yet to be revealed. For that reason, as well as Wayne's political persuasion, I find nothing unusual about his filming the "Flying Tigers" as well as the pro-Vietnam War move "The Green Berets". P.S. Most everyone on Smoke Bomb Hill either laughed, or laughed til they puked at the movie. Come on back Gerry! They (those who have tried) have neither run me off yet, nor have they shut me up! When someone pisses me off, I just tell more!
James Richards
Thomas, Here is the photo of Wayne with LHO in the background. I seem to remember that when Peter Bogdanovich interviewed director John Ford, a story was told about Wayne and Pawley. I can't find a reference for that at the moment. I'll keep looking.
