Guest John Woods
Also known as Mario A. Nunez, died August 23, 2006. Dr. Nunez, a native of Cuba served in various diplomatic posts for the pre-Casto government. After Castro rose to power Dr. Nunez moved to monterey, CA where he was a professor of Spanish at the Defense Language Institute (DLI) until his retirement in 1975. At DLI he was active in curriculum development, and created ths original Spanish dictionary of Nautical Terminology for the US Navy and served as president of the DLI Faculty Senate. Over close to a 15- year period it is quite possible that Dr. Nunez met and taught counterintelligence personnel. Dr. Nunez is survied by his wife of 62 years, a son, daughter, and several grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at San Carlos Cathedral on September 1 st, 2006. (Agent Report Army Counter Intelligence Corps Vertans, Inc Fall 2006) Sorry for the delay. johnw Edited April 22, 2007 by John Woods
