  1. Hello Tosh, Thanks for the reminder, and I agree. Too often, I find myself wasting time which would be better spent learning (and hopefully contributing something once in awhile). I've been advocating the same thing for months, then I jump back into the same silly games with him. On an unrelated issue, I don't believe I've addressed you before, so I'd like to say that I appreciate your courage (along with so many others) in the quest for truth. Thank you. Steve
  2. Thank you, John. As I said, I didn't see any of it, so I was in the dark. I know it can't be easy to decide what's appropriate when dealing with issues as sensitive as many of these are. I don't envy you! At any rate, I think your position is a fair one, and I appreciate your reply. Steve
  3. John...maybe I missed the posting you found offensive. I do not read every message, but I have found no message offensive enough to complain about, except those which contain personal attacks on other researchers. In particular, I recall several Pamela Ray messages which I agreed with. Why not let her postings stand, since any ideas should pass the test of the readership. What did she say which was offensive enough to warrant removal? Jack <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jack, I wondered the same thing, though sadly I didn't have the chance to read any of it. I generally find Pam's posts interesting and often informative, but I have no idea what may have taken place in that thread. I trust John's judgment, but I am curious. Steve
  4. Steve, KC is alleged to have contacted Gary Shaw in Oct '92 and told him she had been living under an assumed name for her own safety due to knowing of a conspiracy to kill Oswald. Her role in this had come about when Ruby instructed her to phone him Sunday morning, and that after the phone call, he would send her $25.00. She knew the purpose was to establish "coincidence" of him being near the transfer. I say alleged because I have no idea if the story is true, or if it is true, whether or not the person was who she claimed to be. That said... the evidence strongly supports the notion that the request for the money was a ploy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks Greg. I was beginning to wonder if I'd just stumbled across that story on some really bizarre web site. It seems like someone would've dug into this further, if in fact one of the better-known suspicious deaths would have turned up alive and well. I agree, however, that the request for money sounds very phony. As I remember, her husband's statements contradicted her own account of the reason for the request. Steve
  5. Wim, My phrasing was obviously very misleading, thanks for pointing it out. What I should have said is that Judyth's *evidence of conspiracy in the assassination* was, IMO, cirmcumstantial. Most definitely, there is direct (and some circumstantial) evidence of her status as a cancer researcher and of her affair with Lee. I may have misunderstood the original question, but I took it as an inquiry into what, if any, evidence she has supporting conspiracy in the assassination. My point was that if one can examine the evidence of the first two premises and finds it valid, it provides strong circumstantial evidence of her credibility regarding conspiracy. Hopefully that expresses what I was trying to say more clearly. Steve
  6. John, Many people here in the US fail to understand why the people of other (equally great) nations become annoyed by such a claim as "The United States is the greatest country in the world". We are, unfortunately, subjected to such propaganda throughout most of our lives. Equally distressing is the fact that most who say this have never stopped to consider what it means, if anything. It's considered almost treasonous to mention that many nations enjoy freedoms equal to if not greater than the US, or to mention the great health care, educational systems or whatever enjoyed by any other country. The lack of any real world-view on the part of many here has always puzzled me. Obviously, it's one thing to say that I love my country, and quite another to say that, in effect, the rest of the world is (presumably) living in poverty, illiteracy and slavery! All that aside, there are many here in the US who don't buy into such arrogant proclamations and who are aware that many other nations possess admirable qualities. It's an outrage that we seem unable to learn from that vast area known to Americans as "the rest of the world". Steve
  7. I ask if their is evidence and you say I'm not inetersted???? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bill, I think maybe you and Wim are talking about two different issues. As I understand your question, you're asking whether there is evidence, through Judyth's account, of conspiracy in the assassination? If that's what you're asking, I believe it's purely circumstantial. If you're satisfied that Judyth is who she claims to be, you can then look at what she says regarding the assassination itself, and reach a conclusion from there. I don't think I phrased that very well, but basically, if you believe that she and Lee Oswald had an affair and that she did become engaged in a CIA plot to kill Castro, it seems logical (to me, at least) to also believe her statement that Lee tried to prevent the assassination. If you find these things credible, I think it presents a strong case for conspiracy. I'll be the first to say that it's a complex issue, and it's not easy to plow through the information and disinformation presented. I hope this helps in some small way. Steve
  8. Bill, You're right. This is, I'm afraid, a pattern with Mr. Vernon. Frankly, we'll never move forward as long as this man continues this pattern. He's well aware of Mr. Hewitt's stature, yet he has no facts with which to rebut him, so his reply is that he "knows Don Hewitt", just as he "knows" everyone in New Orleans. His sole interest in the assassination is a financial one, which will become all too apparent as he continues to post. For 10 years, he attempted to discredit all who didn't believe the James Files story, with that interest now gone, he puts together a quickie documentary to "debunk hoaxes" (including, according to him, Judyth Baker). He speaks of "major US media" claiming that Judyth is lying (Duffy), and that many of the "top JFK researchers" (Lifton) don't believe her. And on and on, ad nauseum. Keeping that in mind, I'm not going to spend the next 10 years replying to every wild accusation he concocts. It wastes my time and that of the members of this forum. Steve
  9. This reminded me of something I ran across awhile back regarding Karen Carlin, the stripper to whom Ruby sent the $25. I can't even remember where I saw this, but someone claimed that she surfaced in the early '90s for an interview, approximately 30 years after she supposedly died. I was somewhat intrigued, naturally, but couldn't find any verification of it. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks. Steve
  10. Don't be condescending, you have no way of knowing who I know. I've followed Mr. Hewitt's career for many years, and yes, he is tough. He's from the old school, where reporters actually worked to get their stories. His reputation needs no defense, it's on the record. As for twisting your words, I wouldn't dream of it. You were attempting to mislead people about the events surrounding the 60 Minutes story, I merely cited a real authority on that subject. Regarding the newsgroups, they are, by and large, the gossip mills of the internet. Why would I care what you post? I certainly don't have the time or inclination to reply to everything you post, most of it speaks for itself. Steve
  11. As usual, you're relying on secondhand rumors, innuendo and half-truths to attempt to discredit Judyth Baker. The "major media" to which you refer consists of one magazine editor who considers Posner's theories valid. As I mentioned in another thread, Mr. Hewitt's credentials are above reproach. He may well be among the last of the real reporters left in US mainstream media. You also neglect to mention that many of the top JFK researchers consider Ms. Baker's statements to be highly credible, based on years of firsthand research. Concerning your statements regarding New Orleans, I'm not sure what your current position is. Are you claiming again that Judyth didn't live in New Orleans? If this isn't what you're saying, then apparently your contacts there aren't quite as knowledgeable as you'd have us believe. Surely, if you concede that she *did* live there at the time in question, at least *one* of them should have heard of her, if they're as well-informed as you claim. Finally, John Ochsner would have no reason to know who Judyth Baker was, as she wasn't working side by side with his father. Her work was conducted, at the Ochsner clinic. Considering the nature of her work, it's doubtful that her name would be on many records! We've been through all this before, repeating it won't make it any more accurate than it was the first hundred times you said it. Steve
  12. Mr. Vernon is referring to Brian Duffy, a Senior Editor of U.S. News and World Report. He is in no way affiliated with CBS News or its "60 Minutes" news magazine, the only connection in this case being that the segment on Judyth was to be a joint project of CBS and USN&WR. Of considerable interest are the comments of Don Hewitt, producer of 60 Minutes. He was also the producer of CBS Evening News in 1963, and is a veteran reporter, having worked for CBS for 55 years. A link to the 6th Floor Museum interview of Mr. Hewitt may be found at: http://www.hdtl.org/hewitt.html There are links to the C-SPAN video and audio. It's a fascinating interview concerning many aspects of the assassination, as well as a first-hand view of his belief in Judyth's credibility. Steve
  13. I'm an amateur researcher of the JFK assassination, with an interest in the subject which goes back to the early '70s. I don't consider myself an expert in any particular area, but somewhat knowledgeable in several aspects of the tragedy.
