Brian Leahy
It is often claimed that the Labour Representation Committee was formed by the British Trade Unions but there were of course 70 or more organisations at the inaugural meeting. I have been looking all over for an actual list of those organisations without success. Can anyone help me?
John Dolva
Without being able to answer the question by the original poster (OP). If I were to seek out the answer to this question I would start with : http://www.socialismtoday.org/45/labour.html for an outline. A look at other sites indicate to me there is an interest in this particular period (given the rebirth of the LRC in 2004, the role of the Scottish Labour Party in 1900, as well as the role that Engels played in 1900 in advising and commenting on this formation) and minutes, memories, et.c. are being gathered within which the answer likely can be found in time. Brian Leahy
I asked for the Precise make up of the Labour Representation Committee and your reply did not offer an answer to that question. No wonder that you have over 10,000 mentions with answers such as that.
John Dolva
Really? I hope you find what you are looking for. With an attitude like that I'm not surprised you are having difficulties. Stop the bs and do some research.
Brian Leahy
I have no idea what is meant by, "Stop the bs" but I would like to know. I have spend two days looking for an answer to the question I asked with no success but in that search I did come across the http://www.socialism.../45/labour.html and the best that they could offer was the following. “One hundred years ago, on 27 February, 1900, a conference of trade unionists and socialist organisations met to establish the Labour Representation Committee.” I think that it’s pretty important in building an understanding of the development of the Labour Party to know just who was at that conference so I will keep looking.
