NARA has just released new documents re: JFK assassination records at: https://www.archives.gov/research/jfk/release2021
However, there are no documents that pertain to Harry Dean, Edwin Walker, the John Birch Society, Robert Welch, John Rousselot, the Minutemen, Loran Hall, or any of the other "usual suspects" in Education Forum conspiracy arguments.

I posted all Harry's FBI and CIA files online years ago. I also posted the FBI personnel file on Wesley Grapp.
As I previously pointed out, Harry Dean claims that he provided information to Wesley Grapp in Los Angeles during the summer of 1963 (September to be exact). However, Grapp was not even in California during 1963. He was Special Agent in Charge of the FBI-Miami field office until March 1964! ALSO: Grapp was in Washington DC for training classes during some of the periods when Harry Dean claims he was speaking to Grapp.
In addition, NONE of the FBI files about the Birch Society (HQ or field office) mention Harry or anybody matching his description except the ONE reference in the Birch Society Los Angeles field file where an Assistant Director told a southern California newspaper editor that Harry's narrative was entirely false, i.e. Harry was never an FBI informant nor did he provide any service requested by the FBI. All Harry ever did is contact the FBI when HE thought he had some information that they might like to know -- just like hundreds of thousands of ordinary people do every year. All the FBI did with Harry's information (with one minor exception) is file it away without pursuing it further because they never considered Harry as a reliable source of information about much of anything.
Harry Dean is NOT a credible witness to anything -- which explains why no reputable historian or academic publication has ever given his story any serious consideration. The Los Angeles FBI agent in charge of Cuban-related matters described Harry as a "mental case" - which also corresponds to a comment which Harry's wife made to one of their neighbors at one time.
Incidentally, just FYI, after I obtained the FBI-Los Angeles and FBI-HQ files on Harry, I then used the "search slips" located in those files to make further FOIA requests. The FBI search slips list all references to a name which FBI "name check" employees could find in any FBI index. Altogether, I found about 30 cross-references on the field office and HQ search slips which referred to documents containing the name Harry Dean. Many of those documents turned out to be about some other person by the name of Harry Dean---including (for example) an attorney mentioned in some entirely different and unrelated file. The very few documents that were about Harry J. Dean merely repeated the information contained in the FBI-HQ and Los Angeles field files. In other words, they were duplicate references because (in most cases) a serial was placed in more than one file.
Lastly, I also contacted about a dozen people who have well-known websites pertaining to the assassination of JFK. I asked the owners of those websites what THEY thought about Harry's story. Without exception, NONE of them believed Harry was credible and, in fact, when you check the books written about the JFK assassination during the past 15 years or so, nobody gives Harry's story any significant coverage---IF they mention him at all (which isn't often).

I forgot to mention Dan Smoot's 1962 book, "The Invisible Government" which also presents what amounts to a "Deep State" narrative. It was preceded by Mary M. Davison: "The Hidden Hand" and many other conspiratorial paradigms about how our government was "controlled" by subversive forces -- including multinational corporations and "elitist" organizations.

I don't see much significant difference between references to the "Deep State" versus previous descriptions used by the extreme right for 75+ years. The John Birch Society used the term "Insiders" to refer (primarily) to the Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission, and other "elitist" groups that the JBS believed controlled (and subverted) our government. [They preferred "Insiders" after they lost an historic precedent-setting defamation lawsuit which cost them $500,000 and changed American Libel Law (i.e. Gertz v. Robert Welch Inc.). Presumably, they thought using the more nebulous vague term "Insiders" prevented further libel actions.]
The concept of a "secret government" or "hidden hand" has been omnipresent in extreme right literature since at least the 1920's. Years ago I created a webpage in which I attempted to capture the general narrative used by the extreme right. See: https://sites.google.com/site/ernie124102/biblio-1
In addition, a Master Conspiracy has been posited by many individuals and organizations which they describe in the context of The Bavarian Illuminati which (they claim) took over and used the Communist Conspiracy. At one point Robert Welch claimed that a "Zionist Conspiracy" pre-dated and was subsumed by the Communist Conspiracy.

David: I added few acronyms since 2015 without changing the revision date at the top of the webpage. I have also come across new acronyms as I have reviewed my collection of FBI files but I've been too lazy to revise that webpage---primarily because I did not think there was much interest. Yes, there are many items that have been discarded since the 1960's-1970s.

Thanks Robert. One of the reasons why JBS members and supporters often seem to win online debates is because very few people have detailed FACTUAL knowledge about JBS history. As a result, cartoon caricatures about the JBS and its positions often are substituted for rational and factual debate.
Because much of their actual history is opaque, Birchers often get away with the most incredible falsehoods about their own history as well as denying the numerous associations or links between the JBS and very toxic and disreputable individuals and organizations.
My chapter on "Racism and the John Birch Society" is a 3-part discussion (totaling 189 pages) which includes a very detailed chronology of those links and associations. That appears in the third (and final) section of that chapter -- and I don't think anybody has ever been able to compile such an extensive database. And I only scratched the surface!
I hope that my FBI files collection which has now been accessed by over one million people will help future scholars, students, researchers, and journalists document our history.
I am currently working on a new Report which is entitled "Trumpism is NOT New" -- which will summarize the arguments used by the extreme right and white nationalists and assorted bigots during the 1940's thru 1980's which mimic the current statements and themes associated with Donald Trump. Thanks again for your support! [BTW--the next batch of FBI files to be uploaded into my Internet Archive webpage should be available in late in March or early April.]

I recently created two PDF files which combine all of the individual chapters which I have posted online that comprise my “Report on the John Birch Society”.
My Report is based primarily upon data appearing in FBI investigative files along with material I discovered in Special Collections which are archived at various colleges and universities or in state historical societies.
(1) The first PDF file is now uploaded into my Internet Archive website at the link appearing below. This is a 291-page file which is a combination of all 12 textual chapters of my Report on the John Birch Society -- updated through February 2019.

Chapter 13 will discuss JBS falsehoods regarding the 1963 Report by the California Senate Factfinding Subcommittee on Un-American Activities. That Subcommittee devoted 62 pages to their investigation regarding the JBS.

I recently created two PDF files which combine all of the individual chapters which I have posted online that comprise my “Report on the John Birch Society”.
My Report is based primarily upon data appearing in FBI investigative files along with material I discovered in Special Collections which are archived at various colleges and universities or in state historical societies.
(1) The first PDF file is now uploaded into my Internet Archive website at the link appearing below. This is a 291-page file which is a combination of all 12 textual chapters of my Report on the John Birch Society -- updated through February 2019.

Dr. Caufield discusses the Constitution Party in about 50 pages of his book. In addition, a major focus by Dr. Caufield pertains to many of the persons connected to that Party such as Joseph A. Milteer, William Potter Gale, Pedro del Valle, Kenneth Goff, and Mary Davison.
Today, after waiting three years, the FBI has released 4 files on Constitution Party -- which I have just uploaded into my Internet Archive webpage (link below). It will probably take another couple hours for the files to finish uploading due to their size.
CONSTITUTION PARTY - FBI FILES
The FBI HQ file on Constitution Party (HQ 105-124952) is 182pp and covers the period from October 1963 thru May 1966. However, the FBI sent me a previously-processed version of this file which did NOT apply the death records which I sent to the FBI. Consequently, many names mentioned in those HQ file documents are redacted but the other files on Constitution Party which I uploaded today (Baltimore, Los Angeles and Philadelphia) have many less redactions.
Baltimore 105-1183 (103pp) covers the period from August 1954 to January 1968Los Angeles 105-2151 (174pp) covers the period from July 1954 to December 1963Philadelphia 105-1749 (48pp) covers the period from December 1954 to January 1964IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP PRESERVE FBI FILESI have begun a GoFundMe campaign to assist the Center for Right Wing Studies at University of California with preserving my paper FBI files (i.e. the Center is converting my paper files into PDF files which I then add to Internet Archive website so that they can be shared online with everyone--at no cost).As of today, more than one million people have accessed my FBI file collection which is online at Internet Archive.You may read all the details at the link below. If you have any questions, I will be very happy to answer them.During the past couple years, I have received literally dozens of emails from scholars, journalists, students, authors, and even from many relatives of individuals who were active in some organization 40 or 50 or 60 years ago. All of these folks have seen some reference online to my FBI files collection -- and they asked for my help.I've been able to assist about 65% of these folks but, sometimes, the FBI records which are the subject of their inquiry are not currently among the paper FBI files in my collection which are scheduled to be scanned by a student at UC-Berkeley's Center for Right Wing Studies.That is why I created a GoFundMe page -- in the hope that enough additional funds can be raised to finish this project.There is one additional wrinkle concerning FBI files--especially older ones.The FBI has been working at warp-speed to transfer many files to NARA. The problem with that is....(a) NARA often takes 2-3 years to process a request and(b) even more discouraging -- NARA currently charges 80 cents per page to provide copies of documents (even when they scan paper documents into PDF files on a CD or DVD). That often means that just one medium or large FBI file from NARA will cost $1000 or $2000 or more to obtain.Obviously, that makes historical research into FBI files virtually impossible for almost everyone.I would therefore very much appreciate your support for saving the FBI files I have obtained over the past 37 years.Please forward this email to anyone whom you think would also be interested in saving our history.Your support would mean a lot to me.
