Johnson, during which he fought to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964. (Mr. Cranston, 60, won a Tony Award in 2014 for his performance in “All the Way” on Broadway.) The aptness of this pairing did not escape Mr. Obama, who said he credited President Johnson’s civil rights laws for “ultimately leading to the election of representatives who look like me.”
