Justin Q. Olmstead
Teaching the same class several times during a school year allows for different points of view and for new questions. As my new class was reading through the Nazi anti-Jewish legislation several new questions were brought up. First a student noticed that in July of 1938 all of the streets in Germany that were of Jewish origin were replaced. She asked if the original names had been restored at the wars end and if not why? Secondly, several students were perplexed by the fact that in May of 1942 the Nazis outlawed Jewish ownership of pets. What purpose does this fullfill. Finally, the question was brought up as to why in 1939 Jews were forced by law to add Sarah or Israel to their names. All information is appreciated.
