David Ferrie wounded on Cuba?

Good morning,
in one of J.Garisson’s books, he indicates that following the death of D.Ferrie, he asked one of his investigators to check whether Ferrie was indeed carrying a scar on his stomach; the answer would have been positive and would have confirmed a legend that Ferrie was bayoneted during a mission to Cuba.
But a few days ago, I read a text saying that it was false, the author indicated that he had contacted a New Orleans coroner who would have told him that it was false.

Would any of the honourable contributors to this great forum have an answer ( and a source to do )?
