Guest
Suggestions are invited for the design of the E-Help logo for our proposed website. Those with an interest please attach your suggestions in this thread or send them directly to me. Perhaps members could run a competition in their schools???? Doug Belshaw
Are there any limitations like: (i) How it will fit in with the overall colour scheme (a very important factor in the success of a website) (ii) Transparent background? (iii) Size of image? Doug Edited February 22, 2005 by Doug Belshaw

Doug Belshaw
No! As thus far we have nothing.Accept I would like something animated as a splash page and a banner for the header of each area of the web site - let your creative juices flow <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Perhaps the reason there's been no submissions so far is a lack of guidance! So you're looking for a banner - what kind of proportions? What kind of 'feel' is the site going to have? Futuristic? Traditional? Quirky? Fonts are important! It would also be handy to have some guidance r.e. colours, otherwise the submissions could clash badly... Later... I had a play about with Macromedia Fireworks and came up with 15 logos such as the ones below. You can view larger versions here. Please let me know what you think! Anyone else who fancies a play around may find the following sites useful: http://www.webwhirlers.com/colors/combining.asp http://www.openclipart.org/ Doug Edited March 3, 2005 by Doug Belshaw
Terry Haydn
I like the top and bottom one of Doug's suggestions from the five shown on his post.
Juan Carlos
I would vote the same than Terry. Bearing in mind the last referenda results in France and in Holland, I vote for the botton one.

The others look a little flippant. Thanks for the ideas and the links Douglas

John Simkin
I like the idea behind number 5. However, I also like http://www.mrbelshaw.co.uk/e-help/logos/pages/11_png.htm Any chance of using the lettering of number 11 on the design of number 5? Dalibor Svoboda
I like number 9 because it symbolizes a knowledge puzzle we are dealing with. Our little piece will be added to a huge mass of other knowledge. Though I do not dislike number 15 logos I do feel that it is too much “official” and “taken for granted”. John Simkin
Though I do not dislike number 15 logos I do feel that it is too much “official” and “taken for granted”. That is a good point. I also have a problem with the colours of number 15.
Richard Jones-Nerzic
Though I do not dislike number 15 logos I do feel that it is too much “official” and “taken for granted”. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I take Dalibor's point. I also think for a design point of view I think we'd be better off with something transparent, something that will drop easily onto a white background. I also like the idea behind number 11 (the life-belt). Perhaps the stars of the EU on a blue life-belt??? I can see we'll spend longer on deciding the logo than the CMS/curriculum course/ content combined! Just as it should be
John Simkin
I also like the idea behind number 11 (the life-belt). Perhaps the stars of the EU on a blue life-belt??? Excellent idea. However, can it be light-blue?
Dalibor Svoboda
I liked number 11 initially too. But then I felt that it could be misinterpreted. Like that E-HELP is throwing life saving equipment around with our pedagogical approach, which we are not! Or that we are helping others who are drowning ….. That kind of thoughts would not serve us well. Edited June 6, 2005 by Dalibor Svoboda
Doug Belshaw
I'm happy to create the final image if everyone's happy for me to do it. I'm no graphic designer though! Shall I try the 'stars on the lifebelt with a light blue background' idea? Doug
