Derek McMillan
It has always been obvious that open source is more in tune with the needs of public service than Microsoft corporation. However now an influential Demos report has urged the case for the open source concept http://www.demos.co.uk/catalogue/wideopen/ and today's TES leads suggesting that schools could save millions by ditching Microsoft. http://www.tes.co.uk/search/story/?story_id=2094985 It remains to be seen whether the government will act on this. The ICT framework is heavily influenced by Microsoft and Tony has organised a Knighthood for Gates so New Labour might just decide to shelve this one. We shall see.
