John Simkin
Four years ago Durham LEA decided to invest over £2m a year to improve GCSE results. Some of this money was invested in creating special teams in schools that focused on course selection, mentoring, teaching techniques, course work revision and help with independent study. According to Durham LEA exam results improved at a rate twice the national average. They now have a new idea. They will be providing more than 5,000 teenagers with daily omega-3 fish oil supplements. Will it improve exam results? What methods would you use if you had a budget to help improve GCSE results?
Ed Waller
What methods would you use if you had a budget to help improve GCSE results? Reduce class size, and enable the class teacher to focus on course selection, mentoring, teaching techniques, course work revision and help with independent study.
