John Simkin
People who teach "Crime and Punishment" should find this annotated list of websites useful. http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/REVhistoryCrime.htm The Old Bailey website is very good if you want students to discover if anyone with the same name has appeared at the Old Bailey. For example, my name is fairly unusual but it comes up twice in the records: John Simkin, appears in trial of David Stochbury, alias Touchbury, killing: murder, 25 Mar 1741. http://www.oldbaileyonline.org/html_units/...7410325-51.html John Simkin, victim in trial of Mary Harris, killing: murder, 16 Sep 1824 http://www.oldbaileyonline.org/html_units/...8240916-47.html This is an interesting coincidence as I married a Judith Harris and Mary Harris is my sister-in-law. We are always looking for such websites to report in Ripperologist. In regard to the repetition of names in history, this is of course the reason why genealogical research can be so tricky, that often you land on the same name or a series of linked names such as those you cite, and end up on entirely the wrong path. All my best Chris
