  1. Hi, Cate, Symbol World is the very best site I know of for students with learning difficulties. In fact, the pupils in my class who are able to use the computer independently visit it several times a week in their free time. The bright attractive layout and the easy navigation enable them get round the site without adult help, and of course, the symbols help them to understand its content. We love the new eLIVE magazine on Symbol world too. It is so refershing for my pupils to find a site they can understand and enjoy freely without needing an adult to help them to read it. Vivien
  2. My name is Vivien Mariau. I taught RE in a comprehensive in North Lincs for several years before moving to Ganton Special School, Hull, a school for 3-19 year olds with severe learning difficulties. I teach all subjects, but I am the school coordinator for French, RE and Citizenship. We are an ENIS school and we find that ICT greatly enhances learning for our pupils. You can see some of our work on Andrew Moore's website at www.universalteacher.org.uk/contents.htm#special I am very keen on using symbols to enhance understanding of text for emergent readers and we are great fans of the Symbol World website. You can see some of our symbol work on www.symbolworld.org by clicking on 'My World' then Ganton School.
