ROSCOE, IL – In remembrance of the 45th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination in Dallas on November 22nd, 1963, the Historic Auto Attractions museum will showcase a number previously unseen artifacts on Saturday, November 22nd, 10a.m. – 5 p.m. including the flag flown over the U.S. Capitol during JFK’s funeral and the shoes Jack Ruby wore when he shot Lee Harvey Oswald. These artifacts represent a sneak preview of additions for 2009, which will join the museum’s already stellar collection of JFK memorabilia, which features the 1956 Cadillac secret service car that drove behind Kennedy’s X-100 Limo in the motorcade on that fateful day, the U.S. flag that was draped on Kennedy’s casket as he laid in state in the East Wing of the White House, and the 1962 Ford ambulance that drove Oswald to the hospital on Nov. 24, 1963.

Other new artifacts that will be on display include John F. Kennedy’s fedora, worn during his presidency, Jackie Kennedy’s designer shoes, hairbrush and dress purse, and Jack Ruby’s jacket and hat. The museum will also display a Styrofoam Kennedy campaign hat and a District of Columbia license plate commemorating the 1961 Inauguration to show – in light of the recent election – how campaigns have changed in 45 years.

Other pieces of the Kennedy collection already on display at the museum include:

- Kennedy’s 1962 Lincoln limousine, used to visit the troops in Georgia during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

- Jackie Kennedy’s funeral hat and veil.

- Eighteen designer dresses from Jackie Kennedy’s wardrobe.

- Blood-stained upholstery from Kennedy’s V-100 Limo and a blood-stained envelope that was with his secretary, Evelyn Lincoln.

- A window from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository, where Oswald fired at Kennedy, and a piece of the infamous grassy knoll fence.

- Printing plate used on the front page of the Dallas Morning News on Nov. 23, 1963.

100 visitors to the museum will also receive a special 3D John F. Kennedy coin, commemorating the 35th president’s life. Limit one per family.

"Drehm seemed to think the shots came from in FRONT OF or BESIDE

the president." (my EMPHASIS)

Army Ranger, World War II, D-day veteran, & very close Dealey Plaza

attack witness, quoted only minutes after the attack, and while he

was still standing within Dealey Plaza (11-22-63 "Dallas Times

Herald," appeared only in the fifth & final daily edition, which

mis-spelled his name)

"I happened to be about fifteen feet away from the president when

the FIRST SHOT HIT HIM. There is some discussion now as to whether there

was one or two shots that hit him, but the first shot rang out, and, I was

positive when I saw the look on his face, and saw him grab his chest,

and saw the reaction of his wife that he had been shot, and at that time,

which was probably a few seconds later --- the second shot rang out ---

and he just, absolutely, went down into the seat of the car. There was a

third shot that 'went,' and by that time i had grabbed my little five-year-old

boy who was with me and ran away from scene of the thing, but, the only

thing that I did witness --- and something I'm sorry I did witness,

very honestly --- was that, the look on his face when that shot hit, and

the look again on him and his wife's face when the shots started to ring out

and it was, very obviously, that he was hit. The first two shots that were

heard, and ---- the FIRST ONE HIT the president --- there was no doubt, whatsoever,

because his face winced, and he grabbed at himself, and he slumped down.

I do believe, without any doubt, that the second one hit him because he

had an immediate reaction with that second shot. I do know there was a

third shot but as I said by that time I had grabbed my boy and started to go."

The bloody leather of the back seat originally belonged to

Vaughn Ferguson, who was with the limo after the assassination. This artifact was one of a number of his that was stolen from him by someone who was ostensibly going to have them appraised. These items were then sold at an auction.
