Camelot and the Cultural Revolution by James Piereson

This book has been adopted by the Establishment and the "establishment" right wing as some sort of a magical talisman that they wave at anyone who believes that a conspiracy murdered John Kennedy.

http://www.amazon.com/Camelot-Cultural-Revolution-Assassination-Liberalism/dp/1594032580/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1297474479&sr=1-1

The thesis of the book is that the JFK assassination led to the break-up of American liberalism; that a myth of JFK was created by the media and the Kennedy family and that this Camelot myth was the JFK was a martyr for civil rights and was killed by some sort of amorphous right wing hatred when in *reality* John Kennedy was murdered by a communist Lee Harvey Oswald.

This is truly pathetic, especially that it was written in 2007 and not 1964, after so much has come out on Lee Harvey Oswald and who he REALLY was. The weight of the evidence today is that LHO was US intelligence agent.

And I think that the weight of the evidence is that both Lyndon Johnson and the CIA/military were involved in the JFK assassination.

The establishment right wing is the one who TODAY is pushing the Big Lie about the JFK assassination. Back in 1963-64 it was the entire CIA/CFR media spectrum, lead by the NY Times, pushing the Big Lie. But today it is FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Rich Lowery, Patrick Buchanan, Michael Barone, the Wall Street Journal, Bill Kristol, the Weekly Standard, Emmett Tyrrell of the American Specator, William Buckley (deceased), Jonah Goldberg, John O'Sullivan of the American Conservative, Steven Alan Samson of Liberty University.

And not to mention liberal Chris Matthews of MSNBC...

All these folks are just soooooooooooo *sure* that Lee Harvey Oswald was "pro-Castro Marxist" or a "communist." Whatever LBJ/CIA/FBI/Dallas police/Warren Commission said about Lee Harvey Oswald - despite a mountain of evidence opposing this in the following decades - those right wingers just gulp down like it was God's nectar.

And the reason they do that is for modern day political reasons. Most of these folks love the CIA, neocon wars (save Pat Buchanan), and they have transitioned from fighting communism to fighting "Islamofascism." And if the truth about the 1963 Coup d'Etat and the truth about US intelligence agent Lee Harvey Oswald ever came out, it would open a WHOLE CAN OF WORMS going through Watergate, through the Iran-contra scandals of the 1980's and to the neocon wars of the 2000's.

So these folks, "conservatives" for the most part, cling to the fantastic whoppers told by LBJ/Hoover/Warren Commission 47 years ago.

Here is my review of Camelot and the Cultural Revolution. Perhaps not a *polished* review, but good enough for government work.

[Robert Morrow - I am a JFK assassination researcher with 200+ books on the 1963 Coup d'Etat. Please google my essay "The LBJ-CIA Assassination of JFK."]

This is a very bad book because it reeks with historical misinformation. The lowest ranking that Amazon allows is 1 out of 5 star ranking. I give this book a zero on a scale of 1 to 10. The author's theme is that the JFK assassination shattered American liberalism; the author says that national leaders and the Kennedy family, in particular Jackie Kennedy, created a Camelot myth around the death of JFK and they cast Kennedy as a martyr for civil rights and a victim of an amorphous climate of right wing hate.

In "reality" the author believes, Kennedy was murdered by a pro-Casto Marxist named Lee Harvey Oswald and that the correct interpretation of the JFK assassination is that JFK was a victim of the Cold War. [in reality JFK was a victim of the Cold War, but not in the way the author thinks.]

I could barely type out the above sentences because it is such garbage. The lone nutter thesis is just not tenable any more. It is really sad to see books like this written in 2007, 44 years after the 1963 Coup d'Etat. I suggest that folks SKIP this book and read 4 other books: 1) LBJ: Mastermind of JFK Assassination by Phillip Nelson 2) JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why it Matters by James Douglass 3) Brothers by David Talbot and 4) The Dark Side of Camelot by Seymour Hersh. Then go to You Tube and watch The Men Who Killed Kennedy, episodes 7, 8 and 9. These were the episodes that were so historically accurate, focusing on the Johnson angle of the JFK assassination, that LBJ flack Jack Valenti got them banned from the History Channel. Then watch the movie JFK director's cut by Oliver Stone. Stone got it right and he came under heavy attack by CIA/CFR assets in the media in 1991 when his masterpiece came out.

John Kennedy was murdered by Lyndon Johnson and the CIA for many reasons both personal and ideological. The Kennedys were on the verge of politically executing Lyndon Johnson. Robert Kennedy was feeding damaging information of LBJ to LIFE Magazine which was one week away from running an expose on LBJ tying him to the Bobby Baker scandal and annihilating his political career once and for all.

The CIA/military reason for killing Kennedy was they wanted to a) invade Cuba and B) go into Vietnam. The usurper traitor murderer president Lyndon Johnson gave them Vietnam. Guiding the coup from the wings were Texas oil barons (Clint Murchison, H. L. Hunt) and very likely the Rockefellers, Nelson Rockefeller in particular.

On the back of this book, there are some endorsement blurbs from some interesting folks who still push the Big Lie on the JFK assassination: CFR and Bilderberger William Kristol, CFR/CIA guy William F. Buckley, and Edward Jay Epstein, a long discredited JFK assassination author who acts like a mouthpiece for the Central Intelligence Agency. Political guru and Bilderberger attendee Michael Barone is also a big fan. As is Rich Lowery of the National Review. R. Emmet Tyrrell chimed in support. The CFR controlled Wall Street Journal called it one of the best accounts of why liberalism fell from grace and has yet to recover (written a year before Obama 2008!). Mark Moyar of the National Review liked it. Jonah Goldberg: "brilliant." John O'Sullivan of the American Conservative: "brilliant analysis." Steven Alan Samson of Liberty University has a study guide for it for one of his courses.

None of these folks above have any credibility when it comes to the JFK assassination.

So you have Lyndon Johnson and the CIA/military murdering John Kennedy. LBJ and Hoover of the FBI covering it up. Allen Dulles (CIA/CFR), who may very well have been a co-CEO of the JFK assassination, de facto running the Warren Commission farce along with John J. McCloy (CFR) and Gerald Ford (CFR).

Then you have CFR/CIA assets all across the media political spectrum (failing to) cover up this wicked deed for 47 years. Then you have modern day conservatives adopting this book and its themes as if it were a mascot.

I am literally about ready to get up and go puke in the bathroom right now. It is so sad to see the author and all those CFR/Bilderberger folks (often presented as experts and gurus in politics) so WILLFULLY IGNORANT as to the ugly reality of the 1963 Coup d'Etat, aka JFK assassination.

And that is what it is: willful, intentional ignorance by folks trapped in their ideology, planted in their TV shows, syndicated columns, foundation jobs ... and they can't tell the truth or learn the (ugly) truth 47 years later because it would hurt their careers and give them a gargantuan case of cognitive dissonance ("You mean all my political heros, both left and right, Democrat and Republican, in this country I love, murdered John Kennedy and tried to keep it covered up at the highest levels? LBJ, George Herbert Walker Bush. Nixon. Ford. The lying MSM). Yes.

It is like finding out that Santa Claus is a child molester.

By the way, Lee Harvey Oswald was US intelligence and my current thinking is that he was involved in some way with the JFK assassination, but he LHO shot NO ONE on 11/22/63, neither JFK nor officer Tippitt.

The historian Merrill Peterson said "the public remembrance of the past ...is concerned less with establishing the truth than with appropriating it for the present." I hope you conservatives caught that, because it is exactly what the CIA/Bilderbergers and National Review conservatives are doing with this book.
