You seem to have your DATES and facts a little scrambled here, young man. Joseph K. acquired the sole license to import a popular brand of Scotch whisky into the US AS SOON AS PROHIBITION ENDED. He had the first shipments already landed and held in bonded warehouses, ready to be first on the market, when repeal of prohibition took effect. So his involvement in the liquor business was totally legitimate, but of course it gave rise to the urban legend that some guys love to perpetuate.
