Robert Merritt Posted May 31, 2011 Share Posted May 31, 2011 RITA REED AKA JAMES REED AMERICAN HERO On Memorial Day, May 30, 2011, 39 years ago, I would like to have it noted that in Honor of Rita Reed aka James Reed went unnoticed for 39 years in history for her/his involvement and role in the famous Watergate break-in. It was on May 31, 1972, that Rita Reed listened in on the famous CRIMSON ROSE conversation at the Columbia Plaza Apartments Complex that broke one of the greatest secrets to the Watergate story that destroyed the President of the United States Richard Millhouse Nixon. My betrayal of that conversation that was divulged to me in confidence by Rita Reed to Detective Carl M. Shoffler and others cost Rita Reed her life, - those who planned to destroy the President murdered her on June 3rd, 1972! To me, I wish to say that I am deeply sorry for the great sacrifice that Rita Reed made for the sake of history and her country, which cost her life unwittingly. Rita, I am sorry and I know you are with God! Let it be known to all that Rita Reed was an unwitting American Hero!
