John Simkin
Sue Storer, resigned as deputy head of Bedminster Down Secondary School because the head refused to give her a new chair. Storer claimed that the chair made “farting sounds” every time she sat down. This caused her great embarrassment in meetings with parents. She added that this chair “was part of a sustained campaign of sexist bullying”. Storer claimed constructive dismissal and sex discrimination and was seeking £1m in compensation from Bristol City Council. After a two-day tribunal it was ruled that she had not been fairly dismissed or discriminated against. Do other members have any examples of "constructive dismissal" cases?
