John Simkin
Alan Johnson, Education Secretary, has argued that state schools should provide lessons on Saturdays. His proposal is based on the fact that it is common practice in independent schools. He has so far not made it clear how he will staff Saturday lessons. Will it be the same way that independent schools do it?

Will it be the same way that independent schools do it? Many of them also opt out of the National Curriculum and its associated ridiculous testing regime, spend 50% of the time at school on the rugger field and have much longer holidays for teachers and pupils -- perhaps we could try these too??
