David Andrews Posted April 1, 2020 Share Posted April 1, 2020 Another Kennedy mission in Texas was to attend an appreciation dinner for Democratic House rep Albert Thomas, who had supported JFK's space race budget, and who was thought to have a short time to live after a terminal cancer diagnosis. Thomas repaid Kennedy by leering back at LBJ after Johnson winked at him upon being sworn in on Air Force One. Thomas survived into 1966. JFK did not.
