    Oswald and JFK's speech before the U.N. in September 1963

    In this speech before the United Nations in September 1963, JFK proposed cooperation with the Soviet Union in the exploration of outer space, including a joint venture to the moon.

    His address was the product of prior diplomatic back channel discussions with Soviet Premier Khrushchev.

    Lee Harvey Oswald has been portrayed as a communist because of his decision to relocate to the Soviet Union and because of activities he undertook after he returned to the U.S.

    If Oswald were a communist as alleged, why would he assassinate President Kennedy who was working with Soviet Premier Khrushchev to build a better relationship between the two countries?

    So there is a certain irony or contradiction in the accusation that Oswald killed Kennedy because Oswald was a communist.

    I think the video is relevant because it drives home the problem faced by those of us who want to further knowledge of the general public concerning there being a conspiracy behind the JFK assassination.

    Almost everyone interviewed in the video was born at a much later date that the assassination. Their replies to the questions drive home the point that to there is appalling ignorance of who was the alleged assassin. The replies of some raise the issue of whether they even know who Jesus was, much less Lee Harvey Oswald.

    Posting this video is the same category as posting the results of a public opinion poll. It is not scientific but it is realistic.

    There has been discussion in recent times of the dumbing down of the general public. The video is evidence of the relevance of that discussion.

    Those who believe there was a conspiracy behind the JFK assassination must face the dilemma that as the 50th anniversary fades into distant time there will be more and more persons who will likely reply to a question about Lee Harvey Oswald as these persons did. This is the challenge we face.

    "When it's bouncing around and playing back at a jittery 18 frames per second, the infamous Zapruder footage of John F. Kennedy's assassination feels almost unreal.     5. Fifty years later, we know everything we’ll ever know about Kennedy’s assassination.

    Even a half-century later, we don’t have the complete story of the assassination. This is because many government documents remain classified and hidden. Reputable groups and individuals have estimated that there are 1,171 unreleased CIA documents concerning Nov. 22, 1963. The Center for Effective Government has even claimed that there may be more than 1 million unseen CIA records related to Kennedy’s assassination. No one can close the book on this subject without examining them.

    The Assassination Records Collection Act, signed by President George H.W. Bush in 1992, requires that all remaining documents about the Kennedy assassination be released by Oct. 26, 2017. The next president will rule on any requests from the CIA and other agencies that materials be withheld or redacted after 2017. Under the law, the president can do so only if there is “identifiable harm to military, defense, intelligence operations, or conduct of foreign relations, and the identifiable harm is of such gravity that it outweighs the public interest in disclosure.”

    One error in The American Experience program part one occurred when the narrator credited Ted Sorenson and Kennedy’s senatorial staff with the writing of “Profiles in Courage” for which JFK was awarded the Pulitzer Prize.

    In reality the book was ghost-written by Professor Jules Davids of Georgetown University. Jackie was one of his students. I attended Georgetown U. from 1956-1960 and it was common knowledge then that Davids was the ghost writer. The Kennedys lived on N Street, N.W., just a few blocks from the university’s campus. I used to walk by their house everyday on the way to class. As I have written elsewhere in the forum, Senator Kennedy stopped two female staff members of the Foreign Service Courier, the school publication of which I was editor, one day when they walked by his house as he departed. They were carrying a birthday cake for me and he stuck his finger deep into it and pronounced it delicious. It made the girls’ day as well as mine.
