  1. Howdy all,

I have an off topic question for this off topic thread.

Are any members familiar or knowledgable in the field of ballistic evidence? Or do you know anyone who may be that is willing to answer a question about the reliability if such evidence?

My question pertains to an unsolved murder. I would be happy to provide more details if anyone can help.

    Thanks!

Not too sure how thrilled I would be about an elected official ruling my life either. On another note, how many kWH's did you use your last billing cycle?

I am in Michigan, and my bill last for 7/06 through 8/03 was $323 for 1762 kWh used. Our electric provider also uses "peak pricing" which jacks up the rate to 1.5 times from 2 p.m. through 7 p.m M-F from June through the end of September.

I've come to believe over the years JFK's assassination was sanctioned by what has been called the power elite or later by Dr. Scott the Deep State.  To me, at that time it also represented Wall Street as in Donald Gibson's Battling Wall Street, and the Council on Foreign Relations.   This corporate takeover of our government led to where we are today.

Profit margins and return on investment rule our lives.  Not elected officials.  They are pawns dependent on corporate benefactors for donations to get elected, thus compromised.

I write this in protest of my electric bill as well as the price of gasoline.  I'm glad gas has gone down locally from a high of $4.89 a gallon to $3.22.  It saves me $8.35 per hundred miles, a small but much needed savings as I drive 6-700 miles a month or more (my daughter in Malibu was calling friends to tell them Ralph's in LA was under $5 while it's still over $6 after a high of over $7).

No matter how this article tries to explain or justify it profit margins in the context of record profits to me is price gouging.

Why gas prices are so high and oil companies enjoy record profits | Stever Robbins

The savings on gasoline do not offset my electric bill.  A new record this month of $475, after last month's record of $411.  Which here in Texas is based almost entirely on the price of natural gas, also seeing record profits.  I understand supply and demand, passed Eco 101/102 though not my strong suit.  I believe in capitalism, but unrestricted it is an invitation for exploitation by the unscrupulous and will eventually eat itself.

Though it will soon be buried I needed to get this out, somewhere.  As explained, I think it relates to the JFKA.  My rant for the night.

Normally, ex-Presidents have security clearance and are even sent NASEC briefings.

For pretty obvious reasons, after Trump's ignominious exit from the Presidency, he was NOT granted a security clearance.

That fact plays no small role in Monday's search of Mar a Lago.

I haven't heard he was denied a security clearance. Can you point me towards this info?

  5. I am wondering what the thoughts of current forum administrators are regarding moving forward.

Are we looking at only having someone take on maintenance of the financial obligations? Are we looking to change moderators? Is James giving control of the forum to the person who takes over payment for him?

We need to solve this and get moving toward the future. It would be nice to know where everyone stands on the issue and how the current team would like yo proceed.

  6. If no one else steps up, I would be happy to take care of the PayPal account and ensure the monthly payment is made.

I don't post often, but I visit the site multiple times a day just to absorb as much info as possible.

Also, James made a somewhat dire statement earlier in the thread about the forum potentially being in danger due to financial issues. That is not the case. We have plenty of members willing to pony up, plus I would fund the forum myself if necessary.

I also fit Sandy's request of the holder being a "younger, somewhat healthy" person. I am 38 years old, and don't plan on going anywhere for a long time.

I don't want this to be interpreted as me advocating for the position. I would prefer someone else take over, but if needed I am willing to step in to keep this thing going.

    Two Points:-

    Point 1

Thanks Ty your response was helpful even though I am not sure I fully understood it.

    Point 2
I have heard back from Invision about creating an account in Paypal and making payments from that account.

Paypal can be used for our Account Credit feature, yes. That option would be on the checkout page of the feature, starting here:

    https://invisioncommunity.com/clientarea/credit/

Once the credit is applied, monthly payments would be drawn from that credit balance automatically.

The other option is to manually use Paypal each month to pay the invoice when the renewal is due.

    James

I think we have our answer there. Set up a PayPal and pin it to the forum and have Invision debit the account monthly. Maybe update us periodically on the balance and shake the tree when we need more cash money.

  8. James,

If not familiar, a 501 (c)(3) is a way of obtaining a tax exempt status for a qualifying organization. The U.S. tax code is ridiculously complex and the publication previously referenced and attached helps to navigate through the process of obtaining a tax exempt status for an organization.

You don't just start an organization as a 501 (c)(3). You must first incorporate as a non profit corporation. Then you apply for tax exempt status.

To me, this is unnecessary. We are not out to make a profit and our yearly receipts would in theory match our yearly expenditures. So why do we need to have a tax exempt status? Further, why would we need to incorporate in any official manner? It just complicates things and adds unnecessary expenditures and liabilities.

If we boil it down, we are simply trying to raise a certain amount of funds and then transfer those funds to Invision to maintain our subscription.

It would be easiest for you or anyone to link the bank account used to pay Invision to a new PayPal account that is used only for receiving donations and paying Invision. We would do a campaign once a year where we solicit donations to fund the next year. Once we reach the amount needed, you would pay Invision the yearly fee. I don't see why it needs to be any more complicated than that.

Sorry if this is a bit disjointed, typing on mobile.

  9. To figure out who is going to take over, I suggest the following, which I am happy to do:

Create post on forum asking for people interested in taking over to state as such.

The deadline for submissions will be this Friday at 12:00 noon Eastern.

After that, I will create a poll with the candidates and publish to the forum. Most votes will be the new "leader".

    Sound like a plan?

Mark Knight emailed me  the following. I felt it is worth sharing:

OK, so if we round that to 140...then if each paid $15 a year [some will opt to pay more, of course], the financial future of the Education Forum would be secured.

I would suggest that the Ed Forum be set up as a non-profit entity, and there be a separate bank account by the custodian of the funds to collect and disburse them as needed. In fact, perhaps James could simply set up a separate account at his banking institution for the EF and collect the funds and disburse them exclusive to and from this account.

It is only a suggestion, but it would
    a) simplify the bookkeeping,
    b) keep the accounting of Forum funds straight,
    c) if contributions could be directly deposited to the account by EF members and then disbursed as automatic withdrawals, the EF could then operate nearly in perpetuity.
    Mark

I can see the benefit to Mark's idea, but creating any official entity comes with costs and extra responsibilities. I have looked into this for other things, and have always come to the decision that I can achieve the goal in a simpler way. I am sure any of our lawyer friends can chime in on this.

As far as accounting goes, we would just setup a PayPal account that is only for forum business. You count what goes in and what comes out, that is it.

For soliciting funds, I prefer a voluntary donation method and am sure we could cover our yearly cost in a matter of hours. S.T. made mention of the subscription method and he couldn't be more correct. Additionally, forcing members to pay to play is not preferred. There are members who contribute valuable content here but may not be able or willing to pony up the funds for a membership. I am fine with that and will donate more than my necessary portion to keep things going.

In future years, someone needs to track time and make July or August our pledge drive month. A proactive method, if you will. Once established, we should be able to proceed as we are with minimal issues.

  11. Here is a link to Invision's pricing matrix https://invisioncommunity.com/buy . It doesn't appear any price break is given for prepayment, but I think this would be the best way to do it. That way it is paid for the year and we don't have to mess around with paying another bill each month and transferring funds.

I believe we would either need the Creator or Creator Pro package. For creator we would need $1,068.00 and for the Pro we would need $1,788.00.

    Anyone have thoughts?

    Chris and Jean Paul

What your contributions have made clear to me, is that I have had a poor control on the money donated.

I applogise. It appears to me money has gone missing.

Regarding 2022 I believe the toal sum was under $1000.

I understand your criticism and maybe we need to tighten up what happens to the money donated.

It might be possible that I could stay - if members are happy with that - provided someone - other than me should hold the money - and passes the monthly subscriptions on to me.

That way I deposit the monthly subscription - but I do not hold the subscriptions. I have a terrible feeling I may have spent some of the money.

What needs to be answered is will what do we need to raise in order to have sufficient funds - at least for a year.

I am committed to paying the August deposit - so we have until around 5th September to collect the funds

    James

    James,

I believe any misplacing of funds would be forgiven as you have funded the forum out of your own pocket previously. I would be willing to head up the fundraising efforts and work with you to get the bill paid each month. Also, I am sure they have an annual option which may save a bit of money.

If we work this plan out, I still believe we should make an effort to cleanup some of the forum and try to setup a system to archive or backup the forum data at least weekly.

Can you check to see what a yearly subscription would cost?

I would like to see Ty take over ownership of the forum, and post monthly finances.

I would do it, but I think a group of 3 or so would be better.

One person to manage finances/fundraising and dealing with Invision or another host.

One person to head up the tech end of things. I am sure this place could be cleaned up a bit, plus it would be nice to figure out a system to backup content frequently.

One person to head up moderation and administration of the forum.

This group could work together to make decisions and no single person would be able to make major decisions without a consensus between the group.

I would be glad to head up the finance position and work to get a team together!

    Ty C.-

I agree with your assessment about a "highly produced primetime hearings by a 'committee' that excludes representation from half the country?"

The J6 committee hired a professional TV producer to put together the clever montages and other  audio-visuals for the six-part TV special.

I do not care if you are a Donk or 'Phant, the J6 committee has become a TV show, not a serious investigation.

There will be no images of police brutality on J6 committee TV show, nor the senseless, lethal shooting of an unarmed protestor perched on a windowsill. Or Trump advising the crowd the "peaceably" demonstrate, as he did. Those images are elided.

No investigation into why Capital Police security was scant on Jan. 6, and then stood down. Why was the Capitol Police commander of the civil disturbance unit  "at home making meatloaf" at the time of 1/6 scrum, as reported in the WaPo?

And finally: Surely no one thinks a flash mob of lulus in Capitol building for a few hours would result in a successful takeover of the entire federal government? This was a threat to the Republic?

Add on: In these pages, a legitimate inquiry is why security was so lax on 11/22/63. Why was security so lax on 1/6/2021? That is not a legitimate inquiry?

Agreed. If it was truly a coordinated "attack", it would have been successful. As you said, a bunch of yahoos were able to enter the Capitol rather easily. And what was their crime once they entered, sitting at Nance's desk and wearing a buffalo head? If I were planning a takeover and capture of certain officials, it would have looked a lot different.

Another thing that makes me wonder, why am I not seeing any guns? Surely a coordinated attack with a government takeover as it's goal would include firearms. They did show what they purport to be firearms at a hotel in Virginia where they claim some sort of mercenary strike crew was staying in the case they were needed. All they showed were dudes carrying a few long things under coats and or blankets. Probably just a couple larpers.

The United States and its democracy is on the verge of collapse because of those people. I'm sorry you find the truth to be radical.

Perhaps the system needs to collapse. It's not working. It doesn't work for you and it doesn't work for me.

To save the Republic, what is it that you suggest, Matt? Witch hunts, show trials, highly produced primetime hearings by a "committee" that excludes representation from half the country? Go ahead, lock 'em up, hang 'em all. It's not going to change a damn thing, except giving you a hard on. Additionally, as is often the case with the left, their plan will backfire on them and will serve to further galvanize those who they seek to persecute.

If you have any tangible ideas to save the Republic, I am all ears, but this isn't it.

The Trump cult wasn't brainwashed overnight, and they won't be de-programmed overnight.

And there are a great deal of them that want to embrace Trump's Russian/Hungary fascist model, as the trademark racism, bigotry, misogyny, etc that those countries practice is also the most important thing to MAGAs and their identity. There's no point in trying to change those cretins.

We already know what their future looks like; the face of America's criminals in 20 years will likely be largely white, diabetic and bereft of critical thinking abilities.

There's so much hate in this statement. I don't see how this makes you any different than those dirty MAGATS. You've let the hate consume you and have become the exact thing you profess to abhor, just on the opposite side and perhaps a notch or two more radical.
