Earlier this week Michael Snyder warned that the bottom of our food chain is going through a catastrophic collapse with sea creatures dying in absolutely massive numbers. The cause of the problem is a mystery to scientists who claim that they can’t pinpoint how or why it’s happening.

General Electric and the city are teaming up in a pilot program that will start out with street lights using LED bulbs that operate 70 percent more efficiently. The program will not cost the city a dime with GE picking up the tab. The street lights are very high tech and equipped with technology that has many applications. "What we are going to do is have a camera in every street light, really a computer in every street light that will be able to put information about available parking into the cloud," said Jamie Irick with General Electric.

Best as I recall, there were about seven commissions that looked at the Pearl Harbor attack. All reached the conclusion Kimmel and Short were to blame.
In the last 30 years or so, as I recall, family members of Kimmel or Short have lobbied successfully to get the judgment against their family member reversed. Long, long after Pearl Harbor.

Ephesians 6:12 refers to "spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms," and Daniel 10:12-13 gives us a glimpse of the warfare that goes on in high places. Beyond this, selected Scripture verses are sometimes also quoted in support of physical beings in space as distinct from the spirit world:
- "Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the Lord your God will gather you." (Deuteronomy 30:4)
- "And the multitudes of heaven worship you" (Nehemiah 9:6)
- "In that day the Lord will punish the powers in the heavens above" (Isaiah 24:21)
- "And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens" (Mark 13:27)
- "I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also" (John 10:16)
It is important to notice that several of these references could well refer to angels. The verses could also describe different groups of people scattered across the earth. Finally, we must note that the term “heaven” is a term whose definition is dependent upon its context. It can mean: outer space, the sky, the general direction of “up,” a paradise, or the abode of God. Therefore, these texts are not evidence of extraterrestrial life. In contrast, Scripture in general indicates the uniqueness of the earth as a sustainer of life.
- "The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to man" (Psalm 115:16)
- "He who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited" (Isaiah 45: 18)
The idea of alien life forms has become very popular today. Unfortunately, many Christian men and women have been caught up in the frenzy as well and have begun to try to find vague allusions in the scripture to alien life forms. The sad truth is that any belief in alien life forms is founded on the assumption that evolution is true. If evolution is not true however, then the hope and belief in alien life forms quickly vanishes.
Some would say that God could have created aliens. Of course God could have done that, but in the Bible it is very clear that he did not. Remember that all of the celestial objects, including the sun, moon, planets, and ALL OF THE STARS in the universe were created for signs, seasons, days and years. The question is this: signs, seasons, days and years for whom? They were created for signs, seasons, days, and years for the inhabitants on Earth. Therefore, any other galaxy, star system, or celestial object which would "harbor life" would be FOR US (humans on earth) and not for any other creature or life form. Two other scriptures really eliminate the idea of alien life:
Psalm 115:16 "The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men." The heavens belong to God and not to alien life forms.
Isaiah 45:18 "For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else." He created the earth to be inhabited, not other planets.
Someone would then ask, why then did he make the universe so big? The answer again is simple: to declare his glory, to show his power, and to give you a revelation of his love for us. Only when you gain a revelation of the enormity of the universe can you then state what the Psalmist stated:
Psalm 8:3-4 "When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?"
The sad truth is that nearly all belief systems in alien life forms ultimately end up undermining the word of God and destroying people's faith.

Mexican drug kingpin Rafael Caro Quintero, who allegedly tortured and killed DEA agent Enrique Camarena in 1985 and was later arrested in Costa Rica, is released from a Mexican prison on a technicality last August in in Jalisco, Mexico. He has since vanished. Explosive new reports aired in the United States and Mexico link U.S. government intelligence agents to the 1985 murder of Drug Enforcement Administration agent Enrique Camarena.
A Fox News report contended that U.S. Central Intelligence Agency assets were present during 30 hours of torture administered to Camarena before he died, and that a CIA contract pilot flew his alleged killer, Mexican drug kingpin Rafael Caro Quintero, to Costa Rica.
Caro Quintero was nabbed in a raid on his San Antonio de Belén mansion by Costa Rican cops and DEA agents on Easter Week of 1985, and he was summarily deported to Mexico. Fox News incorrectly reported that the Mexican government nabbed Caro Quintero.
The drug kingpin was recently released from a Mexican prison on a legal technicality after serving 28 years of a 40-year sentence and has since vanished. He is once again a fugitive and is being sought for extradition to the United States.
According to Fox, CIA agents were present at Camarena’s torture by virtue of having infiltrated the Mexican government’s now-defunct Federal Security Directorate (DFS by its Spanish acronym), which at the time was so corrupt that it served as a protector of drug trafficking cartels.
“Our intelligence agencies were working under the cover of DFS. And as I said it before, unfortunately, DFS agents at that time were also in charge of protecting the drug lords and their monies,” said former DEA officer Héctor Berrellez, in charge of investigating Camarena’s murder.
“Berrellez says two informants from the Mexican state police, who witnessed Camarena’s torture, independently and positively identified a photo of one man, a Cuban, who worked as a CIA operative who helped run guns and drugs for the Contras,” said the Fox report.
A CIA spokesman roundly denied the accusations of involvement in Camarena’s murder, telling Fox News that, “It’s ridiculous to suggest that the CIA had anything to do with the murder of a U.S. federal agent or the escape of his killer.”
The Mexican magazine Proceso, which interviewed the same three U.S. drug enforcement sources as Fox, went further, saying that the U.S. government ordered Camarena’s murder because he had stumbled upon the effort to run cocaine into the United States and use the proceeds to help arm Nicaraguan Contra rebels fighting to unseat the Sandinista government.
Proceso identified Camarena’s killer as the legendary Cuban CIA operative Felix Rodríguez, a veteran of the Bay of Pigs invasion and someone at the scene of the 1967 execution of Cuban revolutionary Ernesto “Che” Guevara in Bolivia.
According to Proceso, Rodríguez introduced the drug trafficker Juan Matta into Mexico to act as a link between Colombian drug traffickers and Caro Quintero’s Guadalajara cartel with part of the proceeds from the trafficking going to the CIA to help fund the Contras. The CIA ordered Camarena kidnapped because he had come across Rodríguez’s operation, Phil Jordon, former director of the DEA’s El Paso Intelligence Center told El Proceso’s Jesús Esquivel.
Jordon confirmed to Fox News that CIA assets were in on Camarena’s interrogation.
“In [Camarena’s] interrogation room, I was told by Mexican authorities, that CIA operatives were in there. Actually conducting the interrogation. Actually taping Kiki,” Jordon told Fox.
A former pilot for the CIA, Tosh Plumlee, told Fox that he was hired by U.S. intelligence to fly covert missions and that “he flew C-130s in and out of Quintero’s ranch and airports throughout Central America during the 1980s.”
“The United States government played both ends against the middle. We were running guns. We were running drugs. We were using the drug money to finance the gun running operation,” Plumlee said, Fox reported.
The reports revive old accusations that the CIA was somehow involved in running cocaine between South America and the U.S. in order to raise funds for the Contras, at a time that the U.S. Congress had prohibited the CIA from arming the Contras.
In response to an outcry over the publishing of a three-part series in San José Mercury News that linked Contra drug money to the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles, in the United States, the CIA’s Inspector General issued a report that denied agency responsibility in the drug trafficking, but acknowledged that the CIA-contracted pilots and other “assets” used by the CIA were involved in drug trafficking.
According to Fox News, “In 1998, CIA Inspector General Fred Hitz told Congress he ‘found no evidence … of any conspiracy by CIA or its employees to bring drugs into the United States. However, it worked with a variety of … assets [and] pilots who ferried supplies to the Contras, who were alleged to have engaged in drug trafficking activity.’
“Hitz said the ‘CIA had an operational interest’ in the Contras. And while aware the rebels were trading ‘arms-for-drugs’ the CIA ‘did nothing to stop it.’ ”
The author of the San José Mercury News series, Gary Webb, drew widespread criticism for linking the CIA to the proliferation of crack cocaine in the United States, and three major newspapers, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post published stories ostensibly debunking the series.
Webb’s editors acknowledged flaws in the reporting and assigned the reporter to a lesser post covering a northern Californian suburb.
Webb eventually quit the newspaper and, unable to find a job with any other major news outlet, committed suicide in December 2004.

But we started to learn about the change in the situation on the drive in from the airport, and then listened for several hours through drinks and dinner after we arrived at the apartment. It was a story of the progressive deterioration of the strength of the Batista government and an increase in strength of the opposition crystallizing around the July 26 movement of Fidel Castro. It was now a vicious and deadly cycle. As the terrorism of the opposition increased, the brutality of the police and military intelligence people became more horrible. I was told that the Bohemia, then one of the most popular picture-news weeklies in Cuba and widely circulated in Latin America, had been trying secretly to keep a tally of those tortured to death or executed by the police, and now estimated that as many as ten a week were killed in Havana alone.
I was skeptical, as my friends had known I would be. They had brought pictures to prove it. These photographs had been taken by a doctor of a woman who had come to him for treatment. She was a schoolteacher and had been arrested with one of her male students on suspicion of plotting against the government. They were taken by the police to a prison where they had been tortured. She had been severely beaten and he had been pounded into unconsciousness. They had been released because the teacher's sister fortunately had friends in high enough positions in the government to open the prison doors. The doctor who treated the woman said he had never seen a human body more mistreated. He had taken the pictures, with her permission, because there were still some who did not believe or realize what was going on. The horrible wounds on the woman's body were convincing, as were the reports of case after case of the sons of prominent Cuban families who had joined either the students' organization or the July 26 movement and had been arrested and killed.
It was this type of atrocity that was costing Batista the last of his support among the people of Cuba.

Americans Have No Idea How Bad Inequality Really Is
And if they did, they wouldn’t want European-style solutions.

If Michael Norton’s research is to be believed, Americans don’t have the faintest clue how severe economic inequality has become—and if they only knew, they’d be appalled.

Consider the Harvard Business School professor’s new study examining public opinion about executive compensation, co-authored with the Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok’s Sorapop Kiatpongsan. In the 1960s, the typical corporate chieftain in the U.S. earned 20 times as much as the average employee. Today, depending on whose estimate you choose, he makes anywhere from 272 to 354 times as much. According to the AFL-CIO, the average CEO takes home more than $12 million, while the average worker makes about $34,000.
In their study, Norton and Kiatpongsan asked about 55,000 people around the globe, including 1,581 participants in the U.S., how much money they thought corporate CEOs made compared with unskilled factory workers. Then they asked how much more pay they thought CEOs should make. The median American guessed that executives out-earned factory workers roughly 30-to-1—exponentially lower than the highest actual estimate of 354-to-1. They believed the ideal ratio would be about 7-to-1.

Americans didn’t answer the survey much differently from participants in other countries. Australians believed that roughly 8-to-1 would be a good ratio; the French settled on about 7-to-1; and the Germans settled on around 6-to-1. In every country, the CEO pay-gap ratio was far greater than people assumed. And though they didn’t concur on precisely what would be fair, both conservatives and liberals around the world also concurred that the pay gap should be smaller. People agreed across income and education levels, as well as across age groups.

Norton asked 55,000 people around the world how much they thought CEOs in made compared with the average low-skill factory worker, and how much they should make. Norton Get theThis is the second high-profile paper in which Norton has argued that Americans have a strikingly European notion of economic fairness. In 2011, he published a study with Duke University professor Dan Ariely that asked Americans how they believed wealth should be split up through society. It included two experiments. In the first, participants were shown three unlabeled pie charts meant to depict possible wealth distributions: one that was totally equal; one based on Sweden’s income distribution, which is highly egalitarian; and one based on the U.S. wealth distribution, which is wildly skewed toward the rich. (They used Swedish income data as a model, rather than wealth, to strike a “clearer contrast” with the United States.)* Then, the subjects were told to pick where they would like to live, assuming they would be randomly assigned to a spot on the economic ladder. With their imaginary fate up to chance, 92 percent of Americans opted for Sweden’s pie chart over the United States.
In the second experiment, Ariely and Norton asked participants to guess how wealth was distributed in the United States, and then to write how it would be divvied up in an ideal world (this, it seems, served as the template for Norton’s most recent study). Americans had little idea how concentrated wealth truly was. Subjects estimated that the top 20 percent of U.S. households owned about 59 percent of the country’s net worth, whereas in the real world, they owned about 84 percent of it. In their own private utopia, subjects said that the top quintile would claim just 32 percent of the wealth.
The Actual Wealth Distribution of the U.S., What Americans Think the Wealth Distribution Is, and What They’d Like It to Be
As in Norton’s more recent study, responses varied a bit by age, income, and political party, but there was overall agreement that America would be better off with a smaller wealth gap.

“People drastically underestimate the current disparities in wealth and income in their societies,” Norton told me in an email, “and their ideals are more equal than their estimates, which are already more equal than the actual levels. Maybe most importantly, people from all walks of life—Democrats and Republicans, rich and poor, all over the world—have a large degree of consensus in their ideals: Everyone’s ideals are more equal than the way they think things are.” Theoretically, Americans aren’t exceptional in their views about distribution at all—they have a sense of fairness similar to that of Germans, French, and Australians, and most Americans would be offended if they actually knew the degree of economic inequality that exists in this country.
But let’s say all of America woke up one morning and could cite Thomas Piketty chapter and verse. Would today’s moderates suddenly demand Scandinavian tax rates and mass wealth redistribution? Would our politics become more progressive?
It’s one thing to talk about fairness in the abstract; it’s another to agree on policies that would address it. Gallup, for instance, has consistently found that a solid majority of Americans believe wealth should be distributed more evenly. But fewer support the idea of imposing heavy taxes on the rich in order to do it. The Pew Research Center reports that 45 percent of Republicans already believe the government should at least do something to reduce inequality. But good luck finding GOP voters who are begging for a more robust welfare state.

Americans broadly support ideas that don’t require them to make an obvious personal sacrifice, like raising the minimum wage; they’re less happy to make tradeoffs. Europeans have long had social democracy baked into their politics; we have a libertarian streak. Maybe that would change if more Americans knew just how dire inequality has become. But I wouldn’t bank on it.

It is fair to say that not much in the way of Caribbean intrigue went on in those days without the CIA, or at least CIA operatives, having a finger in it. Thus the allegations of Gary Underhill, a weapons expert and sometime CIA "unperson," may be quite plausible [RAMPARTS, June 1967]. Immediately after the assassination, a distraught Underhill told friends that a semi-autonomous CIA clique which had been profiteering in narcotics and gun-running was implicated in the assassination. Several months later, Underhill was found dead of a bullet wound in the head; although police decided it was self-inflicted, the circumstances indicated otherwise. When an old friend wrote to Underbill's widow asking about his demise, the reply came from an official of a now defunct Washington firm, Falcon Aeronautics, Inc., which smacks of having been an ad hoc CIA front. The official dismissed Underbill's allegations with the comment that they were "similar to those flights of his imagination which he had during the last year or so of his life."

This extract from a form describing a project to be funded by the United Kingdom’s inter-agency “Conflict Pool” indicates one of the ways HMG is spending British tax money. In the wake of the latest of the endless outcries about “Russian trolls” in Western media, this should be of interest to all who may be interested in the truth of the matter — or as close as we can come to that, at least.Documents posted on the web reveal a high-level anti-Russian propaganda war being waged in south and eastern Ukraine by the US, the UK and NATO on behalf of the Kiev Government, using non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as agents.
According to the Drakula blog, the West is raising its game in its campaign against Russian President Vladimir Putin. While it is — on the one hand — pumping up the military volume by moving NATO and US hardware nearer to the Ukraine and Russian borders, it is also playing a hybrid war by pumping funds into an anti-Russian propaganda war.
NATO documents show that a “co-ordination meeting on StratCom training for Ukraine” was held in Riga, Latvia on February 19, 2015 as part of its “on-going capacity building programme”.
StratCom stands for Strategic Communication, which means dealing with the “inability of Ukrainian media to provide sufficient reach for the south/east of the country; vast reach of media originating from Russia; lack of strong Public Broadcaster; lack of success stories; [and] lack of trust of the population of the south/eastern regions in the central government”.
The NATO document reveals the Kiev Government has a “weak Public Affairs capacity” and sets out proposals to counter Russian influence and tackling what it describes as a lack of cross-government work and co-ordination as well as a lack of understanding of the importance of “national narrative”.

Further documents reveal a project run by the UK Foreign Office, the Department for International Development and the Ministry of Defence worth $360,500 with the purpose of: “National reconciliation in Ukraine through effective communication for restoring public trust and empowering of the participatory democracy mechanisms using regional media coverage, counteraction to Russian information influence”.It outlines a pro-Kiev propaganda battle using Ukrainian agencies including the Ukrainian Institute for International Politics (UIIP); the Analytical Center for Geopolitical Studies ‘Borysfen Intel’ (BI); and the Department of the civil-military cooperation, HQ of the armed forces.
Sputnik News has independently gained confirmation of the existence of the Conflict Pool project through the UK Department for International Development and the British Embassy in Kiev.
