Harry J.Dean
The heroic Cuban Revolutionary 26th Of July Movement was absorbed/betrayed into allegedly becoming part of the official Castro political government. Only a few of former 26 Of July Movement leaders were selected. Rank and file members soon went into obscurity, prisons, executions, or to Miami and elsewhere. Though gone, they are remembered! Tim Gratz
It is indeed a shame that the hopes of so many for a democratic Cuba were subverted. One day Cuba will be a free nation and what a tourist mecca I am sure it will be! And think of the Cuban exiles who long to return to their native land! The Cuban people deserve freedom and with freedom will come prosperity as well. I hope I will be able to visit Cuba in the near future.

But Cubans will one day soon enjoy liberty from all domestic and foriegn intervention in their lives. Great knowing you are back, and nice hearing from you Tim. John Dolva
http://www.granma.cu/ingles/2007/julio/vier27/raul26.html THOSE...DO NOT KNOW THEM VERY WELL... "These have truly been very difficult months, although with a diametrically different impact to that expected by our enemies, who were wishing for chaos to entrench and for Cuban socialism to collapse. Senior U.S. officials even made statements about taking advantage of this scenario to destroy the Revolution. .... The battle waged by many generations of Cubans is well-known, from La Demajagua and Moncada, right up to the present, always facing enormous obstacles and powerful enemies. So much sacrifice and difficulties! How many times did we have to recommence the struggle after each setback! Suffice it to recall that in the years following that July 26, 1953, we spent years in prison, the exile, the Granma, the guerrilla and the clandestine struggles, until five years, five months and five days after the attack on Moncada, victory was attained on the first day of January, 1959. In those days, much like what is happening today even within the very United States, lies could not hide reality, although our people then were much less educated and less politically aware than they are now. The vast majority of Cubans joined the cause headed by a leader who brandished the truth like his main weapon against the enemies of his people, who instead of making demagogic promises warned them, from his very first speech in Havana, that perhaps everything would be much more difficult in the years ahead. The conclusion of the U.S. government hierarchy at that time was also consistent with its history: they had to destroy this people who dared to dream of justice, dignity and sovereignty, and if not, make them suffer to the utmost. The example set by Cuba was far too dangerous in a poor, subdued and exploited continent. .... In essence, this has been the last half century of our history. There has been not one minute of truce in the face of the policies of the United States government, aimed at destroying the Revolution." _______________________ The propaganda and economic terrorism against a Sovereign Nation recognised time and again, over decades, in overwhelming, consistently near absolute majority (bar the US and a very very few other nations) UN votes to end the economic blockade against Cuba by the US government continues unabated. The Cuban Chairmanship of the Non Aligned Nations (NAM) and the forging of new alliances, rejecting the Momroe Doctrine and US dominance in Latin/South America continues to strengthen not only Cuba, but the entire world looking for a new economic order, new alliances, and freedom from the foreign meddling in Sovereign States. Of course the fight is not over, but a significant balance has tipped in favor of those seeking true independence and true democracy, such as that practiced in Cuba. Viva Cuba! Patria o Muerte! El Pueblo: Presente! El Commandante: Presente! Che: Presente! Marti: Presente! Sandino: Presente! El pueblo unida y armada jamais sera' vencido! As all USofA citizens should know from their history, The War of Independence, The Bay of Pigs, The Defeat in Vietnam, and in future defeats in attempting to subjugate Sovereing Nations. And you say he was interested in the Kennedy assassination? BK Hi, Bill Yes, was on his show mid-1970s New York City. Yes he was very interested in a solution to the JFK assassinaton. Our hour long interveiw that included investigative reporter W.R. Morris covered the subject very well. Sadly or not the show was never aired. It is likely that FBI/CIA arranged it that way? But I'd say we'll never know the reason for certain. Tom Snyder was a tower, both in height and personality on or off the air. Harry Could not raise xinhuanet.com mercurynews came up, great Snyder comments.
