Three days after the 44th anniversary of the assassination is the release date for a book titled:

"Programmed to Kill: Lee Harvey Oswald, the Soviet KGN and the Kennedy Assassination."

It is the thesis of the book that Khrushchev plotted the assassination, only to have a change of heart, but Soviet agents were unable to deprogram Oswald. Pacepa's version of history gives the KGB months to prevent the assassination (and its potentially devastating blowback) by simply eliminating Oswald once his determination to kill Kennedy became clear.

Is this somewhat similar to what Nagell was saying? That he was on a KGB mission to stop Oswald?

The author of the book is Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa, the highest ranking intelligence officer ever to have defected from the Soviet bloc. But I do not believe he bases his theory on any personal knowledge. Still, it should make interesting reading but I bet 99% of you will reject his thesis without even reading the book.
