Interesting drug plane crash in Mexico

A Gulfstream II business jet that crashed in Mexico recently with 4 tons of cocaine on board was previously used for two flights between Washington and Guantanamo in Cuba. Could there be CIA involvement with this aircraft (and its cargo)? No way!

According to the FAA registry, the aircraft mentioned in the article, N987SA is owned by:

Name DONNA BLUE AIRCRAFT INC

Street 4811 LYONS TECHNOLOGY PKWY STE 8

City COCONUT CREEK

State FLORIDA

Zip Code 33073-4346

County BROWARD

Country UNITED STATES

The site for aircraft history is down for maintenance right now; it should be available again in a few hours.

Gee Ron,

Thanks for that one.

I wonder if the pilot's nickname was Tosh?

I always enjoy reading Danny Hopsicker's take on these incidents (the last link on Ron's post). I know people who dislike his wry, cynical reporting style but I'm a fan of it. It maybe me, but I think he is beginning to specilise in reporting these sorts of flights/incidents. What is interesting about the story he reports is the way aircraft ownership is an enhanced grey area and, apparently is kept that way purposely...

I have no problems with his writing style; it's his carelessness with the facts that turns me off.

What significance is aircraft registry? The CIA does not register aircraft

in the name of CIA, Langley...but uses untraceable "front" assets!

It has to be registered to someone. I'm seeing what information is publicly available, and a Forum member with more experience might recognise one of the companies to be - or have the hallmarks - of a 'front' company.

I also think, Jack, that there is some value in knowing who aircraft are owned by (subject the the shufflingDan mentiones in his article) for future reference, as it oftens seems to be the case that some years later interesting connections are made.

An example of this is Tosh's company Evergreen. Then a couple of years ago, an odd charcater by the name of Michael Meiring had his legs blown off in a hotel in Davao City in the Philippines. The hotel name was Evergreen, which rung bells with me as soon as I saw the name mentioned. I have spoken with Meiring a few times since then on matters relating to WWII gold bullion buried in the Philippines. Meiring is an expert on that subject (call me cynical, but I don't belive his legs were damaged at all. I think he was urgently extracted from the Philippines). Meiring is certainly an Uncle Sam asset of some kind. He has changed his name and address. Very British is Michael. South African British it is said, but he denies that. But whatever the truth of it, "spook" emantes from his every pore.

Anyway, the point of this little tale is that I was told that the hotel's name was a cipher for Langley. I have no idea if this is true or not, but I can well believe it to be the case...

...From the Hopsicker article [for a laugh!]: "For example, the website features a quote from a satisfied Donna Blue Aircraft customer. Unfortunately his name is “John Doe.” And the listed phone number is right out of the movies: 415.555-5555."..."When the company’s principals, Joao Luiz Malago and Eduardo Dias Guimaraes, both Brazilian, forcefully denied that they still owned the plane, claiming it had been sold several weeks earlier to two American pilots in Florida, officials at the DEA (which sent a six-man team to the Yucatan crash site) the FBI, and the FAA were all conspicuous by their silence.

Since then, there has been a growing perception expressed in the Mexican press that the owners of both of the American-registered drug plane’s seem to enjoy an apparent immunity from prosecution."

Hopsicker proves himself once again to be a sloppy researcher. The Donna Blue Aircraft site is a template based site. It is hosted by Homestead Technologies Inc a “website in a box" type provider. The company’s e-mail, area code and address are the same as listed on the Donna Blue site.

I set up a similar one. If Hopsicker and his readers were impressed by the initials of Donna Blue Aircraft (DBA) they should love those of mine Corporate International Airways http://CorpInternationalAir.homestead.com/ I didn’t want to pay the fee (2.99 month + set up) to get my own domain. Notice now similar the sites are*, mine has the same 5 pages/tabs with the same/similar names, the same contact info and the same testimonial from John Doe, even most of the photos ar the same. The only change I made from the original template was in the company name at the top of the page, it took me about 4 minutes to set up and about 3 to find Homestead with Google. The templates are different but Homestead offers 2000 different ones and I couldn’t be bothered to find the same one. http://www.homestead.com/~site/hslo/website/gallery.ffhtml If one clicks on one of the sample templates they find they have the same 5 page system, contact info, photos and testimonial.

The most obvious explanation is that someone from the Brazilian owned company made a halfhearted effort to set up the site then ignored it. This is evidenced by the sites homepage which reads:

“we are in this business over 20 years, attending South, North and Central america, with outstanding service, we are today most trusted company in this market. our customer loyality make us different.”

* http://donnablueaircraft.com/index.html

Does that sound like it was written by

a) a CIA agent or

B) a disinterested non-native speaker of English ? ‘Loyalty’ was misspelled, capitalization errors were made and the grammar is horrendous.

Does Hopsicker really think the CIA would be so sloppy as to set up a site for a Florida based company with phone numbers and address shown as being in California?

Is DBA a CIA front? It could be but I doubt it. Hopsicker certainly hasn’t provided any evidence it is. It looks like they didn’t own the plane anymore when it crashed and didn’t own it when it supposedly flew to Guantanamo.

NOTE - I will have to take the site down in 30 days or pay a fee thus it won't be online anymore in a few weeks.

Len, I think Danny more or less covered your objections by using the words "dummy front company" for Donna Blue Aircraft.

Also, do you seriously think that all covert operators can spell and capitalise perefectly?

What I would like to see Len, is you using your considerable talents investigating stories of your own and then writing about them. Coming at these sorts of subjects from a different direction might offer some new and intersting insights...

Anyway, the latest:
