5900 Lemmon Ave and 6000 Lemmon Ave addresses are for the same building. The Eagle properties ran north from Atwell Street. Right now, there is a Home Depot between Attwell and Haggar, but it used to be an Eagle car dealer. They still have property north of Haggar. I'm guessing the contamination problem was discovered when Home Depot started building their store, or during the buying of the property.

This building on Lemmon used to be the headquarters of TI and GSI back in the early days of the companies, and in fact, their only building at first. For most of those years until the present it's been a machine shop and the contaminants are coolants involved with metal cutting plus chemicals involved in treating metal parts. It's not surprising that 50+ years of manufacturing would let large amounts of coolant seep into the ground around the plant.

It should be noted that Raytheon bought the defense division of TI back in 1997, and that included the Lemmon Ave. building, but operations at that facility didn't change one bit. We still cut the same parts for the same customer. Only the name on the outside of the building (and the name on the paychecks) changed.

Texas Instruments used to be GSI (Geophysical Services Inc.). I've never heard of GEOTECHNICAL CORPORATION or GEOMARINE SERVICE INTERNATIONAL INC. That is what caught my eye when you made the posts. I was just trying to supply some background information about the addresses you listed and I wasn't intending to divert attention from your posts. The part about 'Jada' was merely an interesting sidenote about the area.

I was just trying to supply some background information about the addresses you listed and I wasn't intending to divert attention from your posts

And, that "background information" constitutes additional knowledge on the subject matter and is quite proper as well as appreciated, as would be any other tidbit of information.

I then went to work at age 17, not quite 17, for one of the biggest corporation lawyers in New Orleans, La. The name then was DuFour, Rosen, Wolff, and Kammer. Mr. DuFour died while I was there and Mr. Kammer, I believe, is still living but they were corporation attorneys for that firm plus 4 or 5 other attorneys that handled divorce cases and similar cases and I was receptionist in the outer office.

Mr. Byrd's membership came through the marriage into the wealth of Mrs. David H. Byrd/aka the Caruth family.

Now, for those who have not followed the "saga", Law Firm predates the Civil War.

However, after the war, Charles E. Fenner, in whose home Jefferson Davis died, was a primary partner in the firm.

Later, his son's became of some note as one came up with the funds to form the stock brockerage firm of Pierce, Fenner, & Beane, which merged with Merril Lynch, and the other was quite prominent in attempting to defeat segregation for Tulane University.

That is how the FBI version of the meeting ends. According to a CIA document dated June 26, 1953, the following also occurred:

-

After leaving the FBI offices, BARRIOS and GATLIN met with a Mr. DUNBAR, who occasionally represents the United Fruit Co. in New Orleans. They asked for one million dollars from the United Fruit Co., in support of BARRIOS' intended revolutionary movement in Guatemala, but they were unsuccessful in obtaining any commitment.

Note: For most rational persons, the mention of associations of Guatemala and the United Fruit Company, would suffice!

KARCHER, JOHN CLARENCE

In moving away from Mr. Karcher and hopefully to the end of this topic, there are two last items which may or may not be of significance.

1. Mr. Karcher was of "Prussian" descent.

2. Mr. Karcher's wife was born in Mobile, Alabama, and although she moved from there at an early age, (moved to Wayne County, MS initially), she nevertheless had a considerable amount of relatives who lived in Mobile.

3. Mr. Karcher's wife's grandfather was the inventor of a "dredging" machine which was utilized throughout the south as well as the New Orleans area in development of canals, etc, as well as having been used in France & Nicaragua.

As a young man, he lived in New Orleans with his uncle for a while, then moved to Mandeville, LA as a schoolteacher, and lived with many "creole" families prior to finally moving to Mobile, AL where he married and raised his family.

JONSSON, JOHN ERIK (1901-1995). Erik Jonsson, cofounder of Texas Instruments,qv was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 6, 1901, the only child of John Peter and Ellen Charlotte (Palmquist) Jonsson. His parents were naturalized citizens, having independently immigrated to the United States from Sweden in the 1890s. (1) In 1912 the family moved to Montclair, New Jersey, where at age sixteen Jonsson graduated from Montclair High School. (2) He completed a mechanical engineering degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, in 1922. On February 8, 1923, Jonsson married Margaret Fonde in Knoxville, Tennessee; they had three children. Jonsson began his career at Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa) as a rolling-mill apprentice in 1922, and advanced to manufacturing superintendent of the Aluminum Index Company (an Alcoa subsidiary), a position he held from 1923 to 1927. After a brief departure into the auto business, 1927-29, he returned to Alcoa as a sales engineer. During Jonsson's last year at Alcoa, John Clarence Karcher,qv the husband of Mrs. Jonsson's cousin, occasionally asked Jonsson's assistance with expediting materials orders for his start-up company, Geophysical Service. In June 1930 Karcher offered Jonsson a job managing the manufacture of seismic instruments at the company lab in Newark, New Jersey, and in July Jonsson again left Alcoa. After spending a few months becoming familiar with the business of manufacturing equipment, Jonsson went to Texas to meet some of the seismic crews and to learn more about how the instruments were used. Many years later, Jonsson would say that his first impressions of Dallas were of fresh, clean air, white buildings, and clean, neatly dressed people who were unfailingly courteous and kind. He returned to New Jersey to tell his wife that he had found the place he would like to live and raise their family. In 1934 he moved to Dallas as secretary of Geophysical Service. The new position gave Jonsson responsibility for all of the personnel, legal, manufacturing, purchasing, warehousing, international, accounting, and banking activities of the company.

Geophysical Service had been formed in 1930 by Karcher and Eugene B. McDermottqv to commercialize a new technique for finding underground oil reserves with reflection seismography. The company was a success and grew rapidly by conducting exploration for others. When crews would otherwise have been idled between contracts, the company began to explore on its own behalf and became the owner of producing oilfields. In 1938 the exploration activities were separated. A Delaware subsidiary, called Geophysical Service, Incorporated, was established under the management of McDermott to continue seismic exploration for others. Exploration for the corporate account was conducted under the leadership of Karcher, by separate crews. The name of the parent corporation was changed to Coronado Corporation in January 1939, completing the separation of the businesses. The GSI subsidiary was sold to Cecil H. Green, J. Erik Jonsson, Eugene McDermott, and H. Bates Peacock on December 6, 1941. World War IIqv spurred the growth of new uses for the seismic and electronic capabilities of GSI, and Jonsson was key to opening new markets for company technology. By the end of 1941 he had obtained the company's first United States Navy contract for submarine-detection equipment, and by 1942 he had obtained contracts from the United States Army Signal Corps and the United States Navy for additional electronic work. By 1950 the manufacturing and seismic operations of GSI had each grown so large that separating them for administrative and operating purposes had become desirable. In 1951 the company was renamed Texas Instruments, Incorporated, and GSI became a wholly owned subsidiary of Texas Instruments. The restructuring gave responsibility for the seismic operation to Peacock and Green, while McDermott and Jonsson led the military-contracting and fledgling electronics business. Again, the businesses flourished. Jonsson's work assignments for GSI included secretary, 1934-39; secretary-treasurer, 1939-42; and vice president and treasurer, 1942-51. His Texas Instruments assignments included president, 1951-58; chairman of the board, 1958-66; and honorary chairman, 1966-77.

At a time when many retire, Jonsson was increasing his civic and community involvement. He was a tireless advocate for education, serving or leading the boards of nearly a dozen educational institutions and forming partnerships to improve local educational facilities. Jonsson was also a founder of the Southwest Center for Advanced Studies, from which the University of Texas at Dallas was created in 1969. Jonsson served as the mayor of Dallas from 1964 to 1971, and worked to improve the image and morale of the city in the wake of the Kennedy assassination.qv He was a key leader in the development of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport,qv serving as chairman of the project from 1968 to 1976. Jonsson proposed a pioneer urban goal-setting program, Goals for Dallas, in 1964, and he served in the positions of chairman of the board (1965-76) and chairman emeritus (1976-92). He also participated in a wide range of community organizations, holding leadership positions in the Dallas Chamber of Commerce, the Dallas Citizens Council, and the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. Jonsson received numerous honors and awards during his life, including ten honorary doctorates between 1959 and 1973. He was the recipient of the Gantt Medal (1968) and Hoover Medal (1970), presented by technical societies; the Horatio Alger Award (1968); and the Founders Medal of the National Academy of Engineering (1974). He was also inducted into the Hall of Fame for Business Leadership (1975). He received the John Ericsson Award from the American Society of Swedish Engineers, and the Great Swedish Heritage Award from the Swedish Council of America (1980); the J. C. Penney Lone Star Lifestyle Visionary Award (1989); the UCLA School of Medicine Lifetime Achievement Award (1990); and the Southwestern Medical Foundation Community Service Award (1993). Jonsson died on September 1, 1995, in Dallas.

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. He was also of Russian, Swedish, German descent.

Mr. JENNER. Would you tell me a little bit about your father? And may I say this. There appear in the reports that he was--or maybe your grandfather, was Swedish, or someone in your line was Swedish, and received some commission or grant from the Queen of Sweden at one time, or maybe your family.

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Yes.

Mr. JENNER. Tell us about that, will you?

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Well, the family is of Swedish origin. The name is spelled M-o-h-r-e-n-s-k-u-l-d.

Mr. JENNER. Yes; I saw last night in looking over these materials the spelling S-k-o-l-d-t, is that correct?

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. That is right, it is spelled this way. That is a Swedish way of spelling. And the letter "o" with two dots over it is a typical Swedish letter which cannot be translated or written down in any language. So in probably moving to Russia, or to the Baltic States, you see, which was an intermediary area between Russia and Sweden, they probably changed it to S-c-h-i- l-d-t. And it can also be written in Russian, at the same time.

After completing his education at Upsala and Stockholm Military ACademy in Sweden, his father, Adolf Hahr, gave him a trip to the USA as a present. He took the trip in 1849 along with his sister Hulda Josephine as his father thought that she would benefit from an ocean voyage. They set sail for America on a ship with a Captain Hammarskjold (related to Dag

Hammarskjold?) who was investigating iron mines in Virginia for the Swedish government. Both he and his sister Hulda loved America. It is not known when Franz made the decision that he would decide to stay in America and not return to Sweden. His sister, however, returned to Sweden in 1858. He was the first Hahr to travel to America.

In 1851 he, along with his sister Hulda, was on the faculty at Limestone Female High School (the predecessor of today's Limestone College), Gaffney, SC. During his tenure at the High School, he was a teacher of French, drawing, painting, and music.

From History of Limestone College, by Walter Carroll Taylor, p. 27: "The Principals of the Female High School, at Limestone Springs invited the following gentlemen to act as a Board of Visitors, in the Examinations of the School in July, 1851, and to report the result: ....Professor Brumby, South Carolina College, Columbia.... The Board was especially gratified

with the Music as conducted by....Mr. and Miss Hahr...."

(Is this Brumby the same as Col. Arnoldus V. Brumby, who was the first superintendent of Georgia Military Institute, which opened in 1851? Col. Brumby of GMI was Professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy there.)

In 1854 he was on the faculty at Legare's school in Orangeburg, SC.

In 1861 he was living in Cumberland County, North Carolina. On April 17 of that year he enlisted in the Confederate States of America (CSA). His career in the CSA apparently had been noteworthy by virtue of the fact that he has been mentioned in various publications:

In the book: "Histories of the several regiments and battalions from North Carolina in the great war of 1861-65," by Walter Clark he was cited in Vol. 1, p. 118: Franz Hahr was Commandant of Conscript Camp; The Bethel Regiment

also in vol 4, p. 383: The Nineteenth Battalion was a battalion of "light duty" men, 5 companies, commanded by Major F. J. Hahr, a gallant Swede who had been disabled by wounds. On page 548, in same vol: Major Hahr, an accomplished Swede, served as Aide-de-Camp to General Kirkland during this battle (Bentonville), and was cool and efficient under fire.

Franz Hahr was also cited in Official Reports of War of the Rebellion: Series I, vol. 46, Part II, page 1187, and vol. 51, page 988; Series IV, vol. 3, page 490.

The War Department in Washington, DC sent letter, dated 28 Feb 1934, to Mrs. H. C. Dobbs (Annie von Schele Hahr, his daughter), presumably in resonse to a letter from her requesting any information they may have on Franz Hahr's Confederate States of America military Service record.

Below is a copy of this letter:

[ The records show that Franz J. Hahr, not found as Franz Joseph Hahr, Company F, 1st Regiment North Carolina Infantry, (6 months 1861) Confederate States Army, enlisted April 17, 1861 at Fayetteville. Aged 36 years. He was mustered in as Corporal May 13, 1861 for 6 months and was appointed Quartermaster Sergeant of the Regiment May 20, 1861, but no

record of him has been found as of this regiment. He was appointed 1st Lieutenant and Drill Master, Confederate States Army, June 24, 1862 and ordered to report to Camp of Instruction #1 at Raleigh, North Carolina.

He was appointed Major February 11, 1864 to rank from December 14, 1863 to command Camp of Instruction, Conscript Bureau and served for a considerable time at Camp Holmes, North Carolina.

Under date of June 4, 1864 he was mentioned as Major commanding Mallett's Battalion near Weldon, N.C., and on January 31, 1865 as Major commanding Battalion of light duty men at Post of Wilmington, N.C. In March, 1865 he was temporarily attached to the Staff of General [William W.] Kirkland as Inspector General. He was paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina May 1, 1865 in accordance with the terms of a Military Convention entered into on

the 26th day of April 1865, as Major and Brigadier Inspector of Kirkland's Brigade, Hoke's Division, Hardee's Corps.]

From a copy found in an old scrapbook kept by Annie von Schele Hahr:

[ To whom it may concern:

This is to certify that F. J. Hahr enlisted in my command, Company F, 1st Regiment, N.C. Volunteers, Confederate States Army, in April 1861. He was connected with the Company until its disbandment. He was a brave and faithful soldier and in every respect worthy of the higher rank which he later atttained in the Confederate Service.

Signed, Y. B. Stern (or Israel B. Stern ? -- blurred), Captain, Company F,

First Regiment, N.C. Volunteers. ]

Letter from Annie Von Schele Hahr dated 28 April 1952:

[...My Father was twice wounded in service. He lay in a frozen trench. This left him with rheumatism of the heart, from which he suffered ever afterward. Dropsy followed and took him away. ]

Franz Hahr Stewart's notes say he was present at Appomattox, and referred

to Lafayette Light Infantry (this needs to be checked).

In 1870 US Census for North Carolina, there was listing for Frank Hahr, age 43, married, born Sweden, foreign born parents, white. Locality: Littleton P.O., Warren County. Series M593, roll 1164, p. 660.

OBITUARY: From Greensboro Patriot, Wednesday, 25 December 1878:

"We regret to announce the death of Prof. F. J. Hahr, professor of music at Greensboro Female College. He had been ill for some time of dropsy and died last Sunday night. He leaves five children, who are now motherless and fatherless, their mother having died about two years ago. These bereaved ones have the sympathy of the public. His remains were interred in the Methodist cemetery Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock."

"Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1879. Resolutions of Respect. At a meeting of the faculty of Greensboro Female College held on the 2nd inst., the following resolutions of respect and sympathy in regard to the late Prof. Hahr were unanimously adopted:

"Resolved - That with profound sorrow we realize the ad fact that Prof. F. J. Hahr, our fellow laborer and our companion, is no more, and that deeply feeling our own loss, we most heartily sympathize with his bereaved family and relations, and commend them to the Great Father for comfort and guidance and safety.

"Resolved - That in his death the music department, G.F. College, has sustained a loss which will be deeply felt among all the friends and patrons of the institution and especialyl by the pupils scattered far and wide through our land who have from time to time enjoyed the advantages of his instruction.

"Resolved - That the high-toned gentlemanlyearing of Prof. Hahr in connection with his superior talent in instruction and eminent skill in musical performance fitted him in marked and peculiar manner for the comparatively rare occurence inur country that such a position is ever filled with so complete satisfaction as in the case of Prof. Hahr.

"Resolved - That we bow with humble submission to the inscrutable Providence which removes from our companionship and from the embrace of a manhood and that we pray that this unspeakable affliction under the sovereignty of the all-wise Ruler and gracious Father may be made to further the great eternal interests of those who almost in despair look up

through the clouds and darkness for the light and comfort needed in this sad hour.

"Resolved - That a copy of these resolutions be forwarded to the family of the deceased and also to the Raleigh Christian Advocate and the city papers for publication."

T.M. Jones, President.

"W.F. Alderman, Sec."

From Annie con Schele Hahr's letter dated 28 April 1952, to Lindsay WiIson:

[ Mr. Charles Alderman, a grandson of Prof. Alderman, whose name was signed to the "Resolutions of Respect"...was very kind in taking me over to the present cemetery but being new and no old records preserved, as of the date 1878, we could not locate the graves. The two signees, Prof. Alderman and Dr. T. Jones, I can remember yet. They were great friends of my Father. ]

Other commentary by Annie Hahr date uncertain:

[ Father was fond of illustrating for fun but these (caricatures of his children) were all burned in our home in Marietta which was struck by lightning. Father's violin was also burned. He had played in many cities with foreign artists who came over. He accompanied his daughter Emma in many concerts when she was a child prodigy. ]

In 1916, DeGolyer moved his business operations to New York, and the family moved into a house in nearby Montclair, New Jersey. They lived in three different residences in New Jersey, the last they built in 1929 on 120 Lloyd Road. Mrs. DeGolyer gave birth to three more children in Montclair: Dorothy Margaret (1916), Cecilia Jeanne (1919), and Everett Lee, Jr. (1923). KARCHER, JOHN CLARENCE

When Everette Lee DeGolyerqv of Dallas learned of Karcher's 1921 experiments with the seismograph he arranged a meeting in New York City that culminated in the organization of Geophysical Research Corporation as a subsidiary of Amerada. Karcher was made vice president and given a 15 percent stock interest and a $300,000 research fund. One of his first actions after establishing headquarters in Bloomfield, New Jersey, was to hire a young Columbia University graduate student, Eugene B. McDermott,qv who had been his associate at Western Electric.

Relatively shallow salt domes could be located successfully with a refraction technique, and this constituted most of the firm's activity in its early years. In December 1928, however, Amerada's drill penetrated the Viola limestone in the Seminole, Oklahoma, area and produced the first oil well in history to be drilled in a structure found by a reflection seismograph. This discovery convinced Karcher and McDermott that reflection crews would be in growing demand. Accordingly, with DeGolyer's backing, they resigned from Geophysical Research Corporation and in May 1930 set up the world's first independent company to provide such services-Geophysical Service. They established operating headquarters in Dallas and a laboratory in Newark, managed by J. Erik Jonsson, a former Alcoa sales engineer.

Nell Goodrich DeGolyer papers

Nell Virginia Goodrich DeGolyer was born on November 11, 1886 in New Florence, Missouri, the first of six children. Her parents, Hugh G. Goodrich, a dentist, and Emma Goodrich, eventually moved the family to Norman, Oklahoma, a college town, so their children would have access to higher education. Later, Nell would speak proudly of her family, "education was an ideal."

Mrs. DeGolyer graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1906 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano. In 1907 she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy also from the University of Oklahoma. Before she graduated, however, she worked as a pianist in the School of Fine Arts and also graded papers for the German Department. Later, after she graduated, Nell Goodrich continued to teach piano at the University.

Nell Goodrich supposedly met Everette Lee DeGolyer when she graded some of his German papers.

(1923). Nell DeGolyer managed a large house and nurtured four children while contending with her husband's burgeoning career and many absences from home.

In 1936, Mr. DeGolyer relocated the family to Dallas, Texas

Moving along back to Mr. J. Erik Jonsson:

Consists of photographs of Texas Power and Light Company's centennial celebration and bulks with photographs of Texas Power and Light Company employees (1956).

Texas Power and Light Company incorporated May 25, 1912, under the leadership of Colonel J. F. Strickland of Waxahachie. Beginning with service to seven towns initially, the utility company expanded its operations to city and rural service in 52 counties in north and central Texas. In 1945, it combined with Texas Electric Service Company and Dallas Power and Light to form the Texas Utilities Company.

In the event that one is unfamiliar with Texas, this is "Texas Electric", for whom Ekdahl/aka second husband to Margarite Claverie Oswald, worked for.

And, the name "Ekdahl" is as much a "Swedish" name as it is a "Finland" name.

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Yes; I belonged to that group--I don't remember during what period--and came quite often to the meetings.

Mr. JENNER. What is the name of it?

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. The Dallas Council of World Affairs. I met quite a few people at the meetings. But they were open, public meetings, where international affairs were discussed. I remember several of the Dallas real conservatives called that Dallas council very leftist. But I never noticed anything in particular.

Mr. JENNER. Were there people of substance that participated in that group?

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Yes; very much so. Mr. Marcus was the president of it.

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. I did not pay any attention. I left them to their own devices. I spoke to various people. I thought I had done my duty by bringing them along. What really impressed me that particular night was an extraordinary interest which developed between this Japanese girl, Yaeko--I don't remember her last name--but I already had given that impression of mine at the American Embassy so they could check on that. She was a Japanese girl, very good looking, who worked, I think, at Neiman-Marcus in Dallas

And, in summation:

http://www.mssu.edu/seg-vm/bio_erik_jonsson.html

That is, when he wasn't courting Margaret Fonde. In February 1923 they were married

Luckily, Alcoa had an opening for a plant superintendent at nearby Edgewater.

Margaret's cousin was married to a John Clarence Karcher. The couples lived 15 miles apart in New Jersey and visited sometimes. But not much was said on those social occasions about the crucial role "Karch", a physicist, had played in early geophysical history.

Thus Geophysical Service Inc., quietly financed by DeGolyer, was born, as the name implied, to make the method available as a service to the oil and gas industry. A tiny central office was established in Dallas and an equally modest instrument shop in Newark, New Jersey. Luckily Jonsson lived in that neck of the woods.

Jonsson's business leadership and civic service record singled him out as the one citizen who could see Dallas through its worst crisis in the aftermath of President John Kennedy's assassination on November 22, 1963.

Jonsson, head of the Citizens Council that year, was the official host for the luncheon at the Dallas Trade Mart where Kennedy was headed and never arrived.

6.5mm Carcano cartridge

Overview

The 6.5mm Carcano cartridge (6.5X52mm) is a rimless, necked smokeless powder military cartridge that was developed in Italy C.1890 as a service cartridge and was used in both world wars. It was also used as a secondary service round by Greece and Ethiopia and likely Albania and Libia as well. Cartridge cases have been made of both brass and steel, and both berdan and boxer primers have been used. It has been loaded for military use in Italy, Austria and the United States. Sporting ammo has been loaded in Sweden and the United States.

The JFK Commerative Cartridge

The cartridges recovered with Lee Harvy Oswald's rifle were part of a batch made in 1949 by the Western Cartridge Company in East Alton Il. They were made for the government of Greece as part of US military aid during the Greek civil war. They were commonly avaible on the surplus market during the early 1960's. They were packed in typical american 20 round boxes of white cardboard.

During the early years of World War II, he served in the Office of Production Management and on the War Production Board. He became a naval air intelligence officer in the Pacific and served on the staff of Gen. Curtis E. LeMay.

In the early 1960s, as undersecretary for political affairs, Dr. McGhee was dispatched to Congo and the Dominican Republic when the instability of civil wars and unaccountable governments threatened to destabilize the peace. Not every negotiation was successful, particularly talks with a son of the Dominican strongman.

"He was 22 and a major general," Dr. McGhee once said. "We wanted him to sell back the sugar properties that his family had accumulated. We made him an offer, and he made us a counteroffer. But he lost his nerve one evening. In the middle of a big party in his yacht, Angelita, he set sail with all his girlfriends instead."

He was a 1933 geology graduate of the University of Oklahoma and worked for various oil companies. He received a patent for a method of making dip determination of geological formations, a valuable contribution to his industry. After receiving his doctorate from Oxford University in 1937, he worked with his future father-in-law to find and buy promising fields.

He became an independent explorer in 1940 and, soon after, struck oil in Lake Charles, La., in an oil field that sustained him financially for the rest of his life.

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. No. They had a branch office in New Orleans, but I had to apply for a job in Houston. So I went to Houston, and I applied for a job with Mr. Suman, who is vice president of Humble Oil Co. Also I met the chairman of the board of the Humble Oil Co. through mutual acquaintances.

Mr. JENNER. Did you return to Louisiana and do some work there?

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Yes; I worked in Terebonne Parish, on a rig.

Mr. JENNER. All right. Now, you spent 2 months in Haiti.

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Yes.

Mr. JENNER. And you returned to the United States.

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Returned to the United States.

Mr. JENNER. Where did you land?

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. We landed in--we came by Lykes--Lykes Line ship directly from Haiti to Louisiana, I think Port Arthur, La.

Mr. JENNER. Lake Charles?

Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Lake Charles.

And the friends met us there and drove us back to Houston and then to Dallas.

On June 25, 1953, the FBI was contacted by a retired Army officer, whose name has been withheld for privacy reasons (referred to here as P-1). P-1 said that Gatlin had approached him with a shopping list of armaments which included three P-38 fighters and three P-51 fighters, along with ammunition. Gatlin said he was acting on behalf of an unnamed Colonel (undoubtedly, Barrios y Pena) who was planning an anti-Communist revolution in Guatemala. Gatlin asked P-1 if he knew General Claire Chennault. P-1 replied that he did, and concluded that Gatlin assumed that P-1 could obtain the weapons through Chennault

JONSSON, JOHN ERIK

In 1934 he moved to Dallas as secretary of Geophysical Service.

The GSI subsidiary was sold to Cecil H. Green, J. Erik Jonsson, Eugene McDermott, and H. Bates Peacock on December 6, 1941.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P.S. For those unaware of history, Erik Jonsson was the person who announced at the Trade Mart, that JFK had been shot.
