....Blackstone pointed out how dangerous it is to accept

the testimony of eyewitnesses, for twelve persons observ-

ing an event would give twelve distinct and ofter contra-

accounts of what happened. They did not all no-

tice the same details; they did not all condsider the same

details to important among those they noticed; and

lastly they did not remember all they did think important.

Man's objective memory is astoundingly faulty...

...“John did not have a political agenda,” says George Gordon, a close friend with whom Mulholland

would later write The Magical Mind. “He said ‘yes’ because his government asked him to.”

Mulholland had an enormous sense of public duty. He took great pride in his contributions, however

small. That a special edition of his book The Art of Illusion had been printed in a format so that its

160 page text could fit into the shirtpockets of World War II servicemen gave him great satisfaction.

He was very aware of the role other magicians had played in aiding their countries in times of

trouble. He had written and lectured about Robert-Houdin’s 1856 mission on behalf of Napoleon III to

help quell the Mirabout-led uprising in Algeria. And he was very familiar with the camouflage work

Jasper Maskelyne had done for the British government during the Second World War.

Furthermore, the leaders of America’s intelligence community were the kind of men Mulholland could

easily like and admire. General William “Wild Bill” Donovan, the founder of the Office of Strategic

Services, America’s World war II spy agency liked to hire Wall Street lawyers and Ivy League academics

to commit espionage. He filled the secret service with confident, intelligent, often daring young men

from leading eastern colleges. By the time the CIA was established in 1947, these were the people who

ran America’s covert operations. Within the inner circles of American government, they were regarded

as the best and the brightest. They planned and acted to keep the country out of war by their stealth

and cunning – two qualities Mulholland long admired....

Secrets of Magus

by Mark Singer April 5, 1993

...As Jay was completing the writing of “Learned Pigs,” he received an offer, unexpected and

irresistible, to become the curator of the Mulholland Library of Conjuring and the Allied Arts. John

Mulholland, who died in 1970, was a distinguished magician, historian, and writer. He was also a close

friend of Houdini, whom he befriended in his capacity as editor of The Sphinx, the leading magic

journal of its time. Above all, he was an obsessively thorough collector of printed materials and

artifacts relating to magic and other unusual performing arts. In other words, if Jay and Mulholland

had got to know each other they would have become soul mates. Mulholland’s collection comprised some

ten thousand volumes, in twenty languages. In 1966, he moved it to The Players Club, on Gramercy Park,

and until his death he remained its curator. In 1984, the club put it up for sale. The auction gallery

that was handling the sale enlisted Jay to help catalogue the collection and advise on its dispersal.

Jay feared that it would be broken up or sold overseas, and either outcome seemed perilously likely.

At a late hour, however, a young Los Angeles attorney, businessman, and novice magician named Carl

Rheuban—someone Jay had never heard of—turned up and bought the library intact, for five hundred and

seventy-five thousand dollars.

Like a lot of promoters who floated extravagant fantasies during the profligate eighties, Rheuban knew

friendly and indulgent bankers. As it happened, the friendliest of these bankers was Rheuban himself.

In 1983, he founded the First Network Savings Bank, leased office space in Century City, offered high

interest rates to attract deposits from all over the country, and started investing the funds in

complex and wishful real-estate ventures. By the spring of 1985, Jay had an office on the bank

premises, where the collection was housed. Soon, he also had a steady salary, a staff of three

assistants, a healthy acquisitions allowance, friendlier-than-ever relationships with dealers all over

the world, and control of a superb research library. Plans were drafted for what Jay anticipated would

be “a dream come true”: the collection would be moved to a building in downtown Los Angeles, which

would also accommodate a museum and a small theatre where he would regularly perform, as would other

artists who appealed to his sensibilities. Edwin Dawes, a British historian of magic and a professor

of biochemistry, who visited the library and regularly corresponded with Jay, has said, “It just

seemed as if Ricky’s fairy godmother had appeared to provide the environment in which to work and all

the facilities to do the job.” Even from the perspective of Jay, the inveterate skeptic, it was a

nearly ideal situation. And, clearly, Rheuban, who was occupied with diverse enterprises, regarded him

as the ideal overseer.

In April of 1990, however, First Network was abruptly closed by California banking regulators, and the

Resolution Trust Corporation (R.T.C.), the federal agency created to cope with the nationwide

savings-and-loan crisis, moved in to liquidate its assets. Rheuban soon filed for personal bankruptcy,

and was reported to be the subject of a criminal-fraud investigation. With no forewarning, Jay

discovered that he could not even gain access to his own office without first receiving permission

from self-important bureaucrats who didn’t know Malini from minestrone. The irony of this was

unbearable. Had Ricky Jay, of all people, been victimized by a high-stakes con game?

If Rheuban did commit crimes, the government has yet to persuade a grand jury that they were

transgressions worthy of an indictment. Nor does Jay at this point have a desire to know how,

precisely, First Network came undone......

....Shortly after eight o’clock the next morning, I picked Jay up in front of his apartment building,

and we drove downtown to the courthouse, where the auction would take place. A couple of days earlier,

he had said to me, “I’ve talked to a lot of people who say they might be bidding, and I can tell you

that, without a single exception, they’re utterly soulless. No one gets it, no one has a clue to what

the collection is really about. There actually are people who are knowledgeable about this, but

they’re not the ones who are able to buy it.” As it was, the disposition of the Mulholland Library now

seemed a foregone conclusion. David Copperfield, a workaholic stage illusionist who spends several

weeks each year performing in Las Vegas and the other weeks touring the world, had agreed to pay two

million two hundred thousand dollars for it. The only thing that could alter this outcome would be a

competing bidder—bids would be allowed in minimum increments of fifty thousand dollars—and none had

materialized.....

....John Gaughan, a designer of stage illusions, who was seated with Copperfield, said to Jay, “Did

you bring some cards?”

“Oh, yes,” Jay replied. “When you feel your life threatened, you’re always prepared.” Then he asked

Copperfield, “Where have you come from?”

“Atlantic City.”

“Ah—from one gambling arena to another.”.....

....And, with that, David Copperfield—a man who owned neither a home nor an automobile but was

reported to be looking for a warehouse; a man whose stage presentations were once described to me as

“resembling entertainment the way Velveeta resembles cheese”—had bought the Mulholland Library for two

million two hundred thousand dollars. Katherine Warwick reminded Copperfield’s attorneys that he had

fifteen days—until the end of the month—to remove the collection from Century City, because the R.T.C.

was shutting down its operation there. There were handshakes among the Copperfield entourage, and then

Copperfield approached Jay.

“Thank you for everything,” he said, extending his hand.

“You’ll enjoy it,” Jay said. “I did.”

“You know you’ll be welcome any time.”

“We’ll speak again in the future, I’m sure,” Jay said.

A friend of Jay’s who also knew Copperfield said to me later, “David Copperfield buying the Mulholland

Library is like an Elvis impersonator winding up with Graceland.”.....

...Construction work had recently been completed on an upper level. Jay followed Copperfield up a

stairway and into a suite of rooms that included several offices, a bedroom, and a marble-tiled

bathroom. The bathroom had two doors, one of which led to an unpartitioned expanse where the contents

of the Mulholland Library—much of it shelved exactly as it had been in Century City, some of it on

tables, some of it not yet unpacked—had been deposited.

Jay stayed an hour—long enough to register pleasure at seeing the collection once again and dismay at

the context in which he was seeing it. When Copperfield asked whether he would be willing to work as a

consultant on an occasional basis—“Basically, he wanted to know whether, whenever he needs me, I would

drop whatever I’m doing and tell him what he’d bought”—Jay recognized an offer that he could easily

resist.

After Jay returned to Los Angeles, he said, “As much as I love this collection, I didn’t think I could

handle going through Copperfield’s bra-and-girdle emporium every time I went to see it.”...

Monday, Jun. 10, 1929

Parlor magic, unlike most other divisions of skill and science, is far from dominated by

professionals. Unknown to the public are numberless amateurs. They play a game of baffle among

themselves. Some 500 members, amateur and professional, of the Society of American Magicians (total

membership about 1,650), held their annual convention last week in Manhattan and brotherly baffling

was the order of the hour. The magicians dined and danced. Then, in secret session, they baffled each

other and exchanged secrets about new or improved apparatus, magicianly "patter" (conversation) and

humor, the art of distracting the attention of the tricked from the trickery.

Magicians scrupulously conceal their secrets from laymen. If they are able, they sometimes conceal

them from each other. Priority rights to tricks which are common knowledge are established by various

rules of registration with the Society...

...Many an amateur in the New York district conducted private displays for the benefit of the

convention delegates last week. Notable among these was Dr. Samuel Cox Hooker of Brooklyn who first

produced his Impossibilities and Miltiades III in 1918. At that time he astonished and mystified some

of the world's leading magicians. Not until this spring did Dr. Hooker give another demonstration.

Eleven years had passed for discussion and theorizing, yet the brotherhood of magicians still found

Brother Hooker's thaumaturgy inexplicable.

Ill, Dr. Hooker entrusted last week's performance and his secrets to John Mullholland of Manhattan,

brilliant sleight-of-handman, lecturer, student of world-wide magical history. Magician Mullholland

was invisibly assisted by Dr. Shirley L. Quimby, apparatus expert, professor of physics at Columbia

University. Dr. Hooker's guests were led from his dark panelled home through a small grassy courtyard,

into a private chemical laboratory. On the second floor was a tiny impromptu "theatre" which seated

about 20 people. The walls were lined with books, many of them on magic.

The apparatus for the Hooker Impossibilities tricks consists of a small metal and glass frame, snugly

holding a pack of cards, standing on a tabaret. Any card named by any member of the audience rose from

the pack. A glass globe was put over the frame, a deck of cards was provided by a member of the

audience, the frame was raised above the tabaret on a book supported by small glass pedestals, the

frame was set swinging through the air suspended by two cards—none of these successive changes

interfered; the named cards continued to rise. The up-and-down motion of the cards obeyed the

indication of the outstretched hand of any member of the audience. Cards rose high above the frame,

stood motionless in midair, descended into the frame again. As a finale the entire deck swooped out of

the globe-covered frame.

Miltiades III is a teddy bear's head. The eyes roll, the head turns, the head rises in midair. When a

member of the audience took a number of cards at random from a deck presented by Magician Mullholland,

the jaws of Miltiades III clicked the number of cards before the recipient had counted them himself.

As these two processes were revealed with successive variations, all theories broke down. The end was

mystery. An English delegate, entrusted with reporting the Hooker mysteries, said he would not be

believed. A U. S. adept told how he had paced the streets, unable to sleep, tortured with speculation.

Dr. Hooker will presumably leave his secret to the younger men who already share it, with instructions

that they keep it amateur magic, bequeath it in time to other successors. Perhaps the Hooker secret

will thus be kept for centuries.

Samuel Cox Hooker is 65. He was born in Brenchley, England, studied chemistry at the Royal College of

Science in London and the University of Munich....

....For 30 years sugar refining was his interest. He was director of the American and Spreckels Sugar

Refining Companies, of Great Western Sugar Co. In 1916 he retired to devote his time to chemical

research. Magic is his chief hobby. He has been a modern Merlin since the age of 12. At table, if he

wishes, he can keep plates spinning furiously—an old Chinese pastime.

VOLUMES ON MAGIC GIVEN TO LIBRARY; Valuable Collection of 1,000 Works Presented by Heirs of Dr. Samuel

Hooker. SOME BOOKS PADLOCKED Donor Was Known for One-Hour Show Called 'Impossibilities,' With Baffling

Card Tricks.

August 5, 1936, Wednesday

The library of books on magic built up by the late Dr. Samuel Cox Hooker, chemist, at one time a

director of the American Sugar Refining Company and an outstanding amateur magician, has been given by

his heirs to the Society of American Magicians collection in the New York Public Library....

Ironically and probably nothing more than odd coincidence is the evidence that Dr. S.C. Hooker

was the "father"of modern sugar beet processing methods in the US and was a director of the American

Sugar Refining Company, where his participation in the industry helped increase the profits of Cord

Meyer Jr.'s grandfather and his partner in the "sugar trust", Horace Havemeyer:

http://news.google.com/archivesearch?q=hav...ed=us&hl=en

Dr. Hooker's obituary, beginning on .pdf page 12, describes a brilliant man with a scientific

library at his Brooklyn home that exceede 20,000 volumes. His home was equipped with both a

sophisiticated scientific library and a small stage to privately present his "magic".

Hooker was certainly a fitting mentor for John Mulholland, the man who would become the CIA's

instructor in "the art of deception"!

Some of the others involved with the America First Committee included Gen. Robert Wood and the textile millionaire William Regnery who later started Regnery Press to publish Holocaust denial and Nuremburg denial works for the right wing McCarthyites. Wood, Regnery, Ray Cline, Willoughby, Morris and Angleton were all later involved with the American Security Council. This Gang of Four: Ray Cline, Willoughby, Morris and Angleton probably ran interference with anyone within the US Gov who tried to get too close to the actual JFK perps.

Richard Condon in The Manchurian Candidate fingered Cline, Morris and Angleton but I have yet to find a direct reference to Willoughby in ManCand.

But there were 2 portraits of MacArthur, Willoughby's commanding officer, in the movie version of ManCand

while the name MacArthur does not even appear in the novel itself. But Benjamin K. Arthur is the political

candidate's name in Madison Square Garden in ManCand, and MacArthur's father-in-law was named Benjamin. Did

Frankheimer insert the MacArthur portraits in the movie based on the Benjamin K. Arthur name alone or

did he know something more? Much more? Is he still even alive?

In 1963, David Hoy authored a book published by the Ireland Magic Co. of Chicago. Hoy's background, Ireland Magic;s association with Mulholland, and what Allen Dulles possibly knew and did not share with fellow WC commissioners, related to the magicians who surrounded Jack Ruby and how the power of suggestion practiced by Muholland, Demar, and Hoy, et al, played into Ruby's strange behavior, is presented in my post on the Jack Ruby and the Magicians thread:

CIA’s Lost Magic Manual Resurfaces

www.wired.com

By Noah Shachtman

At the height of the Cold War, the Central Intelligence Agency paid $3,000 to renowned magician John Mulholland to write a manual on misdirection, concealment, and stagecraft. All known copies of the document — and a related paper, on conveying hidden signals — were believed to be destroyed in 1973. But recently, the manuals resurfaced, and have now been published as “The Official CIA Manual of Trickery and Deception.” Topics include working a clandestine partner, slipping a pill into the drink of the unsuspecting, and “surreptitious removal of objects by women.”

This wasn’t the first time a magician worked for a western government. Harry Houdini snooped on the German and the Russian militiaries for Scotland Yard. English illusionist Jasper Maskelyne is reported to created dummy submarines and fake tanks to distract Rommel’s army during World War II. Some reports even credit him with employing flashing lights to “hide” the Suez Canal.

But Mulholland’s contributions were far different, because they were part of a larger CIA effort, called MK-ULTRA, to control people’s minds. Which lead to the Agency’s infatuation with LSD, as David Hambling recounted here a few weeks ago:

In the infamous Operation Midnight Climax, unwitting clients at CIA brothels in New York and San Francisco were slipped LSD and then monitored through one-way mirrors to see how they reacted. They even killed an elephant with LSD. Colleagues were also considered fair game for secret testing, to the point where a memo was issued instructing that the punch bowls at office Christmas parties were not to be spiked.

The Boston Globe has put together a great visual summary of some of Mulholland’s best tricks for the CIA: the shoelace pattern that means “follow me”; the hidden compartment to smuggle in an agent; the best ways to appear dumb and non-threatening. Because there’s no better misdirection than appearing to be a fool.

NARRATIVE ACCOUNT OF CONTACT WITH DR. JOSE RIVERA IN 1963

BY ADELE EDISEN

April 6, 2002

Jose Rivera was seated there, speaking with someone. When I sat down at the table and introduced myself, Rivera remembered my name and greeted me in a friendly fashion, offering me a Lifesaver peppermint candy from an already opened package. I asked about the Research Career Development Award and about any other support for which 1 might be able to apply after my Postdoctoral Fellowship ended. He did not have any brochures with him, but promised he would locate some by the next day, and asked me to return then.

This 1 did. He had no brochures or information for me, but promised to mail them to me in New Orleans. He again gave me a Lifesaver candy from and open pack.. He suggested we walk downstairs to obtain free Coca-cola drinks. He said he would help me continue with my work. He spoke about his times in New Orleans and it turned out we had some mutual friends and acquaintances there. 1had told him that 1planned to visit the NIH in Bethesda after the meetings, and he then invited me to his home for dinner and to meet his family, which 1 thought was most gracious. When we returned to his booth, he suggested that 1have my electrocardiogram be taken at the adjacent booth (NIH Heart Institute booth). He did an odd thing: he grabbed the recording from the technician and asked him if it was a normal EKG as he read it. The technician told me to take it to my personal physician when 1returned home from the meetings. Another strange thing that Rivera did was to tell me to "call him, day or night, if1noticed anything unusual, anything at all." 1 asked, "What?" and he said, "I mean about the Fellowship. Ifyou have any questions about the Fellowship." .

1 believe the Lifesaver candies were the vehicle for LSD-25 ingestion. 1never saw him take any of the candies, and one time, when 1 put the candy1 had removed from the package into my purse, he insisted that 1 eat it. At that time, 1 remember feeling somewhat euphoric and "floaty" after eating the candy. Also, my eyes became sensitive to bright lights. 1 felt uncoordinated in my movements. 1 blamed these odd feelings and perceptions to the respiratory infection and to the oxacillin antibiotic - because 1 knew 1 was allergic to penicillin and wasn't sure that the oxacillin would not also produce some kind of allergic reaction which might be causing these unusual symptoms. Even later when 1 experienced trailing lights and colors, micropsia (the houses in the Georgetown part of Washington looked so small to me that 1 thought only dwarfs lived in them), giddiness, insomnia, synesthesia, (sudden loud sounds would produce flashes of light) deja vu, and sensations that did not seem normal to me, 1 attributed them all to the respiratory infection, oxacillin, lack of proper sleep, and so on. It did not occur to me, except at the very end of this trip, that Rivera might be drugging me with something. 1 now also understand that LSD-25 can make people more suggestible and, hence, more prone to be hypnotized....

Nice find there, Tom. Mind Control, Magic and Psychological Warfare played such a major part in the JFK murder and the cover-up, too that it is not even funny.

If I recall correctly, Mulholland and/or several other master magicians were also involved in several "deceptions" around the

time of the Normandy D-Day invasion. The U.S. Army created canvas covered blow-up balloon replicas of tanks, and Howitzers and

even airplanes and placed them somewhere in the northern part of the Iberian peninsula in order to make it appear from the air at least, that there were significant build ups of armaments, planes and munitions in order to make it appear that this was the primary

choice of an invasion landing zone. And the way that the Suez Canal was supposedly hidden from the nightly bombing raids by the Luftwaffe was through the use of selectively placed mirrors, spotlights, and other camouflage. This was covered in either a Discovery Channel or History Channel special, but it seemed credible. Worked then why not later? For a while the Iberian peninsula actually was either actively considered as the D-Day landing site or it was REALLY considered as the site. In fact my father was assigned to teach "Wild Bill" Donovan Spanish, he knew the language so well, and they both worked diligently at that task for several months according to his accounts. Later my father used his Spanish language skills to eavesdrop on the occupants of a neighbor's house the week before the JFK assassination, right after the Miami misfires, discussing plans to drive to Dallas, and the rest as they say, is history. Same house frequented by Frank Sturgis (3-4 times), E. Howard Hunt (2 times), Jack Ruby(1 time) and even quite likely Gerry Hemming(2 times) and friends. Funny how Whinelslow and Fonzi spent many weeks and months going into years, denying that what Marita Lorenz said about the caravan from Miami to Dallas, could all be possible but now we know why. Now we know. And certain friends of Whineslow on this forum continue the campaign to this day, denying the reality of the presence of right wing extremism, the entire leadership of the World Anti-Communist League (from Ray Cline to Yaroslaw Stetsko), the White Russians, the Eugenicists, Army Intelligence, Mind Control, and McCarthyism in the entire JFK plot. Oh-wha-ta-foo-lew-are.

director of The American Sugar Refining Company at a

meeting of the Directors. Jan. 13, to fill the vacancy caused by the

retirement of Dr. Samuel C. Hooker.

Another coincidence is that the director voted in to replace Dr. Hooker at American Sugar was the

Quaker Oats partner of R. Douglas Stuart, father of R. Douglas Stuart Jr., now 93 years old, co-founder in 1940 with

Gerald Ford, of the America First Committee.

Not a coincidence at all really. Search this site and others for info on the likes of William Regnery the textiles multi-millionaire who was very close to Wick Draper and Gerald L K Smith as well who started The America First Party and chose Doug MacArthur as their first Presidential Candidate. These guys were ALL founding members of the America First Committee. John T. Flynn was involved with the plot to oust and/or murder FDR. And Vonsiatsky was very close friends with Burton K. Wheeler, Gerald Nye, Ham Fish, and Col. Robert McCormick who worked with the Czarist Soviets. Read Vonsiatsky's comments about Wheeler and Nye in American Swastika by Charles Higham. Gen. Robert E. Wood, later with Sears Roebuck, started the America First Committee, and later THE AMERICAN SECURITY COUNCIL for the likes of Robert J. Morris, James Angleton, Ray S. Cline, Charles Willoughby and compay.

If you just trace the progress from THE AMERICA FIRST COMMITTEE through THE AMERICAN SECURITY COUNCIL through

the AMERICAN COALITION OF PATRIOTIC SOCIETIES and the THE AMERICAN EUGENICS SOCIETY you will have ALL the JFK

plotters conspirators and executors. Just connect the dots and the conclusions will be very, very obvious. I think Sterling

Morton of Morton Salt was also on the AFC founding patrons list and later he merged his company with MORTON-THIOKOL

to produce solid rocket fuel boosters for the Kennedy ...err the NASA Moon Landing. MORTON-THIOKOL worked hand in

hand with Draper Labs. Uh-huh, Draper Labs, to carry out the plans of the Nazi Rocket Scientists at NASA with the Space Shuttle (Zee SS Program). Uh-huh, Billy-boy, I said Nazis again.

Tinker to Evers to Chance. AFC to ASC to ACPS. Just connect the dots right to Dealey.

"For me iss eazey. For you. Difficult." - famous line from Senor Wences' sock puppet.

Here are John Simkin's notes on the AFC....

The America First Committee (AFC) was established in September 1940. The America First National Committee included Robert E. Wood, John T. Flynn and Charles A. Lindbergh. Supporters of the organization included Burton K. Wheeler, Robert R. McCormick, Hugh Johnson, Robert LaFollette Jr., Amos Pinchot, Hamilton Fish and Gerald Nye.

The AFC soon became the most powerful isolationist group in the United States. The AFC had four main principles: (1) The United States must build an impregnable defense for America; (2) No foreign power, nor group of powers, can successfully attack a prepared America; (3) American democracy can be preserved only by keeping out of the European War; (4) "Aid short of war" weakens national defense at home and threatens to involve America in war abroad.

John T. Flynn played a major role in the organization's publicity campaigns. This included one advertisement that read: "The Last War Brought: Communism to Russia, Fascism to Italy, Nazism to Germany. What Will Another War Bring To America?"

In April 1941, Father Charles Coughlin endorsed the America First Committee in his journal, Social Justice. Although Coughlin was one of America's most popular political figures at the time, his open Anti-Semitism made his endorsement a mixed blessing.

Supporters of the America First Committee in the Senate attempted to defeat the administration's Lend Lease proposal. Gerald Nye, Burton K. Wheeler, Hugh Johnson, Robert LaFollette Jr., Henrik Shipstead, Homer T. Bone, James B. Clark, William Langer, and Arthur Capper, all voted against the measure but it was passed by 60 votes to 31.

In a speech in Des Moines, Iowa, Charles A. Lindbergh claimed that the "three most important groups who have been pressing this country toward war are the British, the Jewish and the Roosevelt administration". Soon afterwards Gerald Nye argued "that the Jewish people are a large factor in our movement toward war." These speeches resulted in some people claiming that the America First Committee was anti-Semitic.

The AFC influenced public opinion through publications and speeches and within a year the organization had 450 local chapters and over 800,000 members. The AFC was dissolved four days after the Japanese Air Force attacked Pearl Harbor on 7th December, 1941.

America First and MK/ULTRA

Tom, thanks for refreshing my memory on this entire America First Committe and their linkage into the American Security

Council. Now it turns out that H. Smith Richardson from North Carolina, the founder of Vicks Vapo-Rub and the primary

funder of MK/ULTRA and The Manchurian Candidate Programs was also listed on the original founders list of AFC.

The Company Town Model started in Hopdale, MA by the Drapers was actually based totally on Mind Control and anti-Union Psy-Ops warfare models. Slave Labor in Textile Mills, Vicks Vapo-Rub and MK/ULTRA Mind Control what a parlay. Henry Regnery published books about Brainwashing by Edward Hunter, Betrayed by Robert Morrow, about Holocaust Denial using PsyOps warfare models. Regnery also wrote books about reparations for Nazi War Criminals and a Draper cousin William H. Draper II opposed de-Nazification of Germany. These links among Historical Revisionism, PsyOps, MK/ULTRA Mind Control, pro-German lobbying, anti-Semitic promulgations led right into the American Security Council through Robert Morris and McCarthyism and the Cold War Hysteria pushed by Wood, McCormick, Willoughby, Angleton, Cline and MacArthur.

Robert E. Wood and Robert McCormick plus H. Smith Richardson were the primary donors who funded America First.

Organizational history

Membership

AFC was established September 4, 1940 by Yale University law student R. Douglas Stuart, Jr., along with other students including future President Gerald Ford, Sargent Shriver and future Supreme Court justice Potter Stewart. At its peak, America First may have had 800,000 members in 650 chapters, located mostly in a 300 mile radius of Chicago.[1]

The AFC gained much of its early strength by merging with the more left-wing Keep America out of War Committee, whose leaders had included such mainstays of America First as Norman Thomas and John T. Flynn.

It claimed 135,000 members in 60 chapters in Illinois, its strongest state.[2] Fundraising drives produced about $370,000 from some 25,000 contributors. Nearly half came from a few millionaires such as William H. Regnery, H. Smith Richardson of the Vick Chemical Company, General Robert E. Wood of Sears-Roebuck, Sterling Morton of Morton Salt Company, publisher Joseph M. Patterson (New York Daily News) and his cousin publisher Robert R. McCormick (Chicago Tribune). Future President John F. Kennedy sent a contribution, with a note saying "What you are doing is vital."

AFC was never able to get funding for its own public opinion poll. The New York chapter received slightly more than $190,000, most of it from its 47,000 contributors. Since it never had a national membership form or national dues, and local chapters were quite autonomous, historians suggest the leaders had no idea how many "members" it had.[3]

Serious organizing of the America First Committee took place in Chicago not long after the September 1940 establishment. Chicago was to remain the national headquarters of the committee. To preside over their committee, America First chose General Robert E. Wood, the 61 year-old chairman of Sears, Roebuck and Co.. While Wood would accept only an interim position, he remained at the head of the committee until it was disbanded in the days after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The America First Committee had its share of prominent businessmen as well as the sympathies of political figures including Democratic Senators Burton K. Wheeler and David I. Walsh, Republican Senator Gerald P. Nye, and Socialist Party leader Norman Thomas, with its most prominent spokesman being Charles A. Lindbergh.

Other celebrities supporting America First were novelist Sinclair Lewis, poet E. E. Cummings, Alice Roosevelt Longworth, film producer Walt Disney and actress Lillian Gish. Architect Frank Lloyd Wright attempted to join, but the board thought he had a "reputation for immorality". The many student chapters included future celebrieties, such as author Gore Vidal (as a student at Phillips Exeter Academy), and future President Gerald R. Ford, at Yale College.

[edit] Issues

The America First Committee launched a petition aimed at enforcing the 1939 Neutrality Act and forcing President Franklin D. Roosevelt to keep his pledge to keep America out of the war. They strongly distrusted Roosevelt, arguing that he was lying to the American people.

On the day after Roosevelt's lend-lease bill was submitted to the United States Congress, Wood promised AFC opposition "with all the vigor it can exert." America First staunchly opposed the convoying of ships, the Atlantic Charter, and the placing of economic pressure on Japan. In order to achieve the defeat of lend-lease and the perpetuation of American neutrality, the AFC advocated four basic principles:

* The United States must build an impregnable defense for America.

* No foreign power, nor group of powers, can successfully attack a prepared America.

* American democracy can be preserved only by keeping out of the European war.

* "Aid short of war" weakens national defense at home and threatens to involve America in war abroad.

Despite the onset of war in Europe, an overwhelming majority of the American people wanted to stay out of the new war if they could.[CMH, Chapter 19]. The AFC tapped into this widespread anti-war feeling in the years leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor and the U.S. entry into the war. Charles Lindbergh speaking at an AFC rally

Charles Lindbergh had been actively involved in questioning the motives of the Roosevelt administration well before the formation of the AFC. Lindbergh adopted an anti-war stance even before the Battle of Britain and before the advent of the lend-lease bill. His first radio speech was broadcast on September 15, 1939 over all three of the major radio networks (Mutual, National, and Columbia). Lindbergh urged listeners to look beyond the speeches and propaganda they were being fed and instead look at who was writing the speeches and reports, who owned the papers and who influenced the speakers.

On June 20, 1940 Lindbergh spoke to a rally in Los Angeles billed as "Peace and Preparedness Mass Meeting". In his speech of that day, Lindbergh criticized those movements he perceived as leading America into the war. He proclaimed that the United States was in a position that made it virtually impregnable and he pointed out that when interventionists said "the defense of England" they really meant "defeat of Germany." Lindbergh's presence at the Hollywood Bowl rally was overshadowed, however, by the presence of fringe elements in the crowd.

However, nothing did more to escalate the tensions than the speech he delivered to a rally in Des Moines, Iowa on September 11, 1941. In that speech he identified the forces pulling America into the war as the British, the Roosevelt administration, and the Jews. While he expressed sympathy for the plight of the Jews in Germany, he argued that America's entry into the war would serve them little better. He said in part:

It is not difficult to understand why Jewish people desire the overthrow of Nazi Germany. The persecution they suffered in Germany would be sufficient to make bitter enemies of any race. No person with a sense of the dignity of mankind can condone the persecution the Jewish race suffered in Germany. But no person of honesty and vision can look on their pro-war policy here today without seeing the dangers involved in such a policy, both for us and for them.

Instead of agitating for war the Jewish groups in this country should be opposing it in every possible way, for they will be among the first to feel its consequences. Tolerance is a virtue that depends upon peace and strength. History shows that it cannot survive war and devastation. A few farsighted Jewish people realize this and stand opposed to intervention. But the majority still do not. Their greatest danger to this country lies in their large ownership and influence in our motion pictures, our press, our radio, and our government.[4]

With the formal declaration of war against Japan following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Committee chose to disband. On December 11 the committee leaders met and voted for dissolution. In the statement they released to the press was the following:

Our principles were right. Had they been followed, war could have been avoided. No good purpose can now be served by considering what might have been, had our objectives been attained...

During its existence it was seen by some on the left, especially Communists, as a Nazi front (or infiltrated by German agents).[5]

Conservative commentator Pat Buchanan has praised America First and used its name as a slogan. "The achievements of that organization are monumental," writes Buchanan, "By keeping America out of World War II until Hitler attacked Stalin in June of 1941, Soviet Russia, not America, bore the brunt of the fighting, bleeding and dying to defeat Nazi Germany."[6]

William F. Buckley married into MK/ULTRA... and Billy boy Buckley was IN THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, too.

And Buckley was published by Henry Regnery Press for God and Man at Yale, also cited in ManCand.

And Buckley used that New York and Paris, France law firm, Coudert Brothers to help his Mayoralty Campaign in 1965 or so.

Coudert ran the White Russian Nazi Rat Lines into the USA for Vonsiatsky, de Mohrenschildt and others.

Plus where did Robert J. Morris get his start in politics and back-stabbing? As a commie-hunter during the Rapp-Coudert Committees in NYC 1940-41 working for The Coudert Brothers Law Firm in NYC. Coudert hired Boris Brasol to push the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion, an anti-Semitic diatribe which was basically just propaganda and mind control PsyOps to make people believe that Jews practiced child sacrifice and ritual blood letting. Really sick stuff.

Ever wonder why Condon included Buckley and Morris and Draper and Angleton and Vonsiatsky in The Manchurian Candidate?

Well wonder no more, Billy-Boy. It was because Buckley married into the H. Smith Richardson family, that's why.

It was because Vonsiatsky's Headquarters were in Manchuria. It was because de Mohrenschildt reported to Vonsiatsky

and because George's wife was BORN in Harbin, Manchuoko. George's favorite pseudonym was Philip Harbin or

I love Harbin. And Draper was there in the ManCand because he was the leader of the pack. He was he Godfather

of Modern PsyOps Warfare. He wrote an article about brainwashing World War I troops to stay by the guns even

though they faced certain death. He helped discover the Tuaregs, also mentioned in ManCand and he was discussed

at the Giesbrecht Incident where Vonsiatsky was present. And as for Morris, he was the "real brains" behind McCarthyism

according to Whittaker Chambers the rat fink who tried to frame Alger Hiss. That's why. I am typing really slowly for those

of you who have trouble accepting this evidence. Let me know if I am typing too fast. Angleton was in ManCand too. Maybe

it was his father, maybe it was Jimmy boy. Now the circle is completed. H. Smith Richardson is numbered among the

founders of both AFC and the ASC plus he was RELATED TO Billy-boy Buckley, that YAF Fascist bastidge from way back.

And Condon had it all figured out 5 years BEFORE these bastidges figured out how to kill JFK. Even Revilo Oliver was in ManCand.

Major George Racey Jordan, Gen. Bonner Fellers, friend of Uliuss Amoss and Carleton Coon, the OSS Eugenicist and assassination

specialist, Rev. Gerald L K Smith, all of them were there. All of them. Stick a fork in it. Connect the dots. It's done.

Tinker to Evers to Chance. Buckley to Morris through Vonsiatsky, THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE and right into the H. Smith Richardson family and the H. Smith Richardson Foundation. Vonsiatsky's work with programming Japanese Kamikaze pilots

at the end of World War II BECAME MK/ULTRA within the CIA. Boris Brasol worked for Coudert and was a leading Canadian

Nazi who worked closely with Vonsiatsky and Buckley and Morris all at The Coudert Brothers Law Firm in NYC the leading

White Russian Rat Line operator from Paris, France.

And as for The Catherwood Foundation as your lifetime acheivement award? For pissants, pipsqueaks and titmouses.

When I just recently noticed that Bill Buckley, Jr. was the brother in law of George O'Reilly

the CEO of the H. Smith Richardson Foundation well known funder of the MK/ULTRA operations, it caused me

to revisit this lovely little operation. After all Buckley deserved a mention in Condon's Manchurian Candidate which

described possible MK/ULTRA type projects for Mind Control and Thought Control run by Hans J. Eysenck of

The Pioneer Fund and Wickliffe Draper, Buckley's nearby neighbor in Massachusetts.

Buckley and his American Mercury roots deserved a mention by Richard Giesbrecht, where one of the actual attendees was THE Manchurian Candidate himself, Anastase Vonsiatsky, whose headquarters were in Harbin, Manchuria for decades. And his

home was in Thompson/Putnam, CT so it seemed probable that these guys knew each other. Just try your own

searches for H. SMITH RICHARDSON alone or with MKULTRA and see what you can find. And even Russell

Maguire from Connecticut eventually took over the American Mercury and hired George Lincoln Rockwell as

an editor at one time where Buckley was the Editor in Chief. Then I recalled that 3 classmates at nearby Brown

University in the 1940's were Rockwell, Vonsiatsky and... and... E. Howard Hunt Buckley's first mentor at the CIA.

So these bastidges all first met at Brown University when Vonsiatsky used to ride to football games in a Pierce

Arrow convertible dressed to the hilt as a Nazi according to Martha Mitchell the Brown archivist? Daz right.

The story continues...

So I says to myself... you are on to somesing here brozzer (in the heavily accented Ukrainian described

in The Manchurian Candidate) and the quest continued... E. Howard Hunt ended up in Miami often visiting

the anti Castro Cuban exiles at a CIA safehouse in Grapeland Heights near my house so I knew a little bit

about him in advance. Recently just before he died, Hunt confessed a backup role in the JFK hit confirming

what Marita Lorenz and others have been saying for decades.

Another Harriman/Bush friend, Eugene Stetson ('34), was an assistant manager for Prescott Bush at Brown Brothers, Harriman's New York office. He organized the H. Smith Richardson Foundation. The foundation, in the late 1950s, participated in the MKULTRA, the CIA's domestic covert psychological warfare operation. The Richardson Foundation helped to finance the testing of psychotropic drugs, including LSD, at Bridgewater Hospital in Massachusetts, the center of some of the most brutal MK-ULTRA experiments.

During the Iran-Contra operations, the H. Smith Richardson Foundation was a "private donors steering committee," working with the National Security Council to co-ordinate the Office of Public Diplomacy. This was an effort to propagandize in favor of and run cover for the Iran-Contra operations, and to coordinate published attacks on opponents of the program.

The H. Smith Richardson Foundation also runs the Center for Creative Leadership at Langley to "train leaders of the CIA," as well as another center near Greensboro, North Carolina, that trains CIA and Secret Service Agents. Almost everyone who achieves the military rank of general also gets this training.

This is just the tip of an iceberg. You also have eugenics and population control, suppressed history and technology, yearly retreats, profitable partnerships with brutal dictators, deals with "terrorists", the involvement of the Knights of Malta, war-mongering and profiteering, mind-control, secret societies for teens, ritual magic and more -- all spinning the dark threads in the web of conspiracy that our spinning blue ball has gotten caught in.

Hey John,

Do you think I post "stuff" like the examples displayed below, for my health? This is a lonely life, researching and sharing material on right wing fanatics in our history, in our politics, in our midst, because, nobody is interested in reading or talking about it. Hence, Gerald Ford can get into the white house without even ever being elected, and GHW Bush and Karl Rove can be this "up front":

http://samuelpryor.com/Home_Page.html

President George H.W. Bush: I have read every word of Make It Happen and got an enormous kick out of it.

Karl C. Rove: If anything, Make it Happen underplays Sam Pryor's role in the 1940 Republican Convention and nomination of Wendell Willkie. Pryor was the pivot on what so much turned in those quick and important months.

The money spent to instill this lack of interest has yielded a rich result for those who invested in this outcome.

Thanks largely to John Simkin's effort, however, the result of "googling" the name Sam Pryor Jr., is that this is the second search result displayed:

The Memory of Fish

Monday, Mar. 02, 1942

Ham Fish's memory went dead. The gangling, trumpet-tongued Congressman was on the witness stand in Washington, called there to explain his relations with George Sylvester Viereck, veteran Nazi propaganda agent. Viereck was on trial, charged with failing to tell the State Department all about his activities. One Government witness was George Hill, World War I buddy and for some 20 years office clerk to Ham Fish. Because he had once denied knowing Agent Viereck, Hill himself was tried for perjury a few weeks ago, had been sentenced to two-to-six years in jail. He took it like a man who was loyally suppressing a big secret. But in court last week, Hill admitted that:

¶He had served as handy man of a propaganda ring managed by Viereck and Prescott Dennett, Washington publicist.

¶ Ham Fish had introduced him to Viereck, after Fish had held a long conference with the Nazi agent in Fish's private office.

¶ Viereck then instructed him to mail out, under frank of Minnesota's late Senator Ernest Lundeen, copies of an isolationist speech Lundeen made in the Senate.

¶Fish provided Viereck with a mailing list of some 100,000 names.

Ham Fish strode in with majestic dignity. But his memory was in bad shape. He could not be sure whether he had introduced Viereck to his secretary, George Hill. All such details had faded into a fog. Prosecutor William Power Maloney asked suavely whether it was a coincidence that Viereck's views as a Nazi propagandist "coincide so closely with your views as a Congressman at this time." Mr. Fish could still shout. He leaned forward, shouted: "The man who made that statement lies." Maloney asked him whether he referred to Viereck. Fish replied: "I am referring to you. ... I didn't come here to be insulted."

Said Maloney: "I think the American people have been insulted."

NAZI SCHEME TO DEFEAT FDR TOLD BY GOERING

Pay-Per-View - Los Angeles Times - ProQuest Archiver - Jul 8, 1946

A Nazi scheme to use a huge fund to try and defeat President Roosevelt in the 1940 election campaign was disclosed today by Asst. Atty. Gen. O. John Rogge.

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/...?iid=digg_share

Out of Turn Nov. 04, 1946

"At quiet Swarthmore College one night last week, 0. (for Oet je) John

Rogge, special assistant to the U.S. Attorney General and prosecutor

of the hapless 1944 Washington sedition trials, raked over a few coals

concerning Nazi wartime intrigue in U.S. politics.

Rogge traced out the oft-told tale of the late oilman William R.

Davis, who, inspired by the German Government, had tried to mediate

World War II back in 1940. He also mentioned John L. Lewis, Senator

Burton K. Wheeler and other touchy names in the same breath with Nazi

bigwigs.

To the familiar Davis story Rogge added the authority of months spent

in Germany this year, poring over Nazi records. Upon his return Rogge

had turned over a report to Attorney General Tom Clark with the

expectation that it would be published. Instead, Clark had kept it in

the files.

After Rogge's Swarthmore speech Pennsylvania Republicans gleefully

recalled that pro-German Bill Davis once had connections with another

prominent politico: Senator Joe Guffey, facing defeat Nov. 5.

Indignantly Tom Clark charged Rogge with willfully violating Justice

Department rules by making a speech based on the quashed report. Then

he fired him."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werner_von_Clemm

Werner C. von Clemm (27 September 1897 - 14 April 1989, Biddeford, Maine) was born into a German family that married into German nobility, the Nazi party and prominent American families. His father-in-law was a Vice President of Citibank. In 1922 he immigrated to the United States. Prior to this he had served in the German army during World War I. He was a representative of the German international banking firm Hardy & Co. and an employee of the Pioneer Import Corp., which imported materials from Germany and handled his cousin and Nazi diplomat, Joachim von Ribbentrop's champagne business. Along with his twin brother, Karl he had become friends with U.S. oil man, William Rhodes Davis. In the United States Werner became Vice President of Davis' Davis & Co., which shipped large quantities of oil to Germany and became a propaganda strategist and financial aid of the America First Committee, which encouraged American isolationism. In 1940 the Nazis seized large quantities of diamonds from Belgium and Holland, which Werner was smuggling to the U.S. To avoid detection he moved the diamonds through various European cities, shipped them to South America and they eventually found their way to New York. The operation was stumbled upon by mistake by agents of the Treasury Department when they searched a Budweiser beer box being carried by two American soldiers of German descent. On inspection of the box they found it had a false bottom under which were one hundred letters and government bonds. The letters detailed Werner's diamond smuggling operation. After further investigation von Clemm was arrested on 28 January 1942 and was sentenced to two years in prison for his crime. On his release he entered private banking. He was also an agent of the German intelligence agency, Abwehr and was involved in espionage during World War II.

His son Michael von Clemm went on to become a leading American banker who was involved in Western banking operations in Africa and helped found Canary Wharf.

In the meantime, I hope you agree that, if you are directing posts like your last here, for my consumption, that you are preaching to the choir. (R. Douglas Stuart Jr., calls himself, "Robert D. Stuart, Jr", now, and it looks like he's going to live forever:

http://www.google.com/#hl=en&safe=off&...b22d27f49a5e7dd )

Not at all Tom. Billy-Boy is just a universal generic term for anyone or everyone on this site who desperately needs preaching on these topics of right wing extremism with

a Nazi or Fascist bent. William Rhodes Davies, by the way, was deeply involved with the FIRST Fascist plot to take the White House launched against FDR which failed but the

money came from "a J.P.Morgan" Trust Account (probably Wickliffe Draper's) using the same money laundering technique Draper used 30 years later to fund the Miss Sov Comm.

I am addressing this mostly to the usual group of persons who also continue to deny the importance of the novel, The Manchurian Candidate, for their own selfish reasons.

You know that type of person, they usually say things like: "Since the Gathering Goods Foundation gave living and expense money to the refugee exiles from Gondwanaland, and then those exiles from Gondwanaland plotted to kill JFK, we should blame the Gathering Goods Foundation which was obviously funded by the GIA with the intention of inspiring those exiles to kill JFK several years later. Therefore the GIA is to blame for the assassination of JFK and any and all other crimes committed by anyone from Gondwanaland."

Simplistic, trivial, undereducated, short-sighted and ineffectual arguments of someone coming from a very weak position which is not even their own original argument and original research. Even the so called "original research" about "Rockwell" and "Collins Radio" was borrowed from someone else without giving credit where credit is due. Plagiarism is not a charge I make without due forethought. But it is plagiarism nonetheless.
