Mark Gorton: Biography

Mark Gorton was born Nov 7, 1966 and raised in Oradell, NJ. He attended Yale University, earned a masters in electrical engineering at Stanford University. For two years, he worked doing digital signal processing and speech recognition at Martin Marietta, and then he earned an MBA at Harvard Business School. He then worked as a trader from 1993-1998 at Credit Suisse First Boston. In 1998, he founded Tower Research Capital LLC, which today is one of the most successful computerized trading firms in the world. He is also the founder of a number of other technology and finance companies including LimeWire LLC, Lime Brokerage LLC, Fluent Medical LLC, and Jux. He is the founder and chairman of OpenPlans, a not-for-profit focusing on digital open government and transportation reform. He currently lives on the Upper West Side of New York City with his wife and 4 children. He is an avid cyclist and has been instrumental in reforming the transportation policies of New York City.
