The next two presidential elections will also be won by the Democratic candidate (Clinton?) unless the Republicans can get rid of the Tea Party nutters. All elections are won by candidates who can control the middle ground.

The next two presidential elections will also be won by the Democratic candidate (Clinton?) unless the Republicans can get rid of the Tea Party nutters. All elections are won by candidates who can control the middle ground.

Clinton would be a good candidate but she will be 69 by Inauguration Day in 2017 only a few months shy of Ronald Reagan’s age when he became president. History was not kind to the five men who became president past the age of 62.

Ronald Reagan, 69: Was slipping into senility by the end of his 2^nd term.

William Henry Harrison, 68: 1st president to die in office ‘served’ only one month but was sick the whole time.

James Buchanan, 65: a lack luster president whose party chose not to renominate and whose policies are blamed by some for leading to the Civil War.

George H.W. Bush, 64: defeated when attempted re-election only got 37% of the vote

Zachary Taylor, 64: 2^nd POTUS to die in office served only 16 months.

I don't see how anyone can talk about what American elections "are" after 2000.
