John Simkin
Jackie did a series of taped interviews with William Manchester in 1964 that have never been released, and will not be released as long as Caroline is alive. It is reported that she got drunk during one of the interviews, and said way more than she was comfortable with. While many if not most presume she spoke about JFK's infidelities, I suspect there was far more to it. The original draft of Manchester's book The Death of a President was very hard on LBJ, and presented him as kind of an anti-JFK indirectly responsible for Kennedy's death. It wouldn't surprise me if Manchester got this from Jackie, who comes across as way too nice to LBJ on their taped recordings. I suspect she thought him a pig. She was pretty harsh on Connally in some of the tapes released last year, and she had a lot more reason to hate LBJ than Connally, IMO.
John Simkin
In the CIA report, Background Survey of Books Concerning the Assassination of President Kennedy (4th January, 1967), it stated: "William Manchester's not-et-published The Death of a President is at this writing being purged of material personally objectionable to Mrs. Kennedy." Rodney Rivers
Is this the same as the reports last year where ABC bought Jackie's tapes and some info was leaked our she blamed LBJ? Once that was leaked, the MSM and ABC killed the rumors. see link here : http://www.irishcent...-127220093.html Edited December 18, 2012 by Rodney Rivers

Guest Robert Morrow
In the CIA report, Background Survey of Books Concerning the Assassination of President Kennedy (4th January, 1967), it stated: "William Manchester's not-et-published The Death of a President is at this writing being purged of material personally objectionable to Mrs. Kennedy." And the "personally objectionable" stuff was anything that might put Lyndon Johnson in a bad light or highlight the Kennedy-LBJ war that had been & was going on. At this point the Kennedy family's focus was Robert Kennedy's future political aspirations and they did not want to address any topics that might be controversial (i.e. illuminate what was really going on). Protecting Robert Kennedy's political future also meant protecting Lyndon Johnson (very ironically).
