Roughly two dozen pro-federalization protesters have seized the building of the city council in the city of Zhdanovka in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region. One of the protesters declared that Zhdanovka was a part of the “Donetsk People’s Republic,” local Unian news agency reported. The media report said that no one prevented the seizure. Activists claimed that local government officials went over to the side of pro-federalization supporters.

Facade of U.S. Espionage in Ukraine

Kiev, Apr 14 (Prensa Latina) The deputy minister of Economic Development and Trade, Anatoly Maksyuta, confirmed on Monday that he had discussed with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) its participation in the implementation of reforms in Ukraine.

Maksyuta pointed out that at present, many countries and organizations are willing to support Ukraine in several areas of reforms, so a system of clear coordination with those donors is necessary to increase that aid.

In that regard, Ukraine is confident in the support of USAID experts, said the deputy minister, according to the website of the government imposed in Kiev after the overthrow of President Viktor Yanukovich.

He added that Ukraine's laws are aimed at creating a more comfortable atmosphere to boost attractive business and investments.

The adoption of those laws is very important, but their implementation is more important, and in that context, the assistance by USAID experts will be very valuable, the minister noted.

I would really like to see that the experience in eliminating regulations will have a substantial impact on the economy, said Maksyuta, quoted by the government's website.

The deputy minister's reference to USAID takes place 24 hours after reports on a secret visit to Kiev by the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), John Brennan.

GENEVA, April 15, 4:41 /ITAR-TASS/. UN has warned about the dangers posed by nationalistic rhetoric in Ukraine, which may affect the situation in the country.

A report on the observance of human rights in Ukraine drawn up by the UN Assistant Secretary General for Human Rights Ivan Simonovic says this problem has particular significance now that the country is getting closer to the presidential election scheduled for May 25.

Propagation of ideas of ethnic, racial and religious hatred on the part of some political forces and separate individuals, which only serves as instigation to discrimination and animosity, as well as the nationalistic rhetoric that made itself manifest during protests on Kiev’s Independence Square may wield a very heavy impact on the situation in the country, the report says.

Ukrainian presidential candidate Oleg Tsarev* was brutally beaten by radicals and is now in critical condition, after being trapped inside the ICTV building after appearing on the Ukrainian talk show ‘Svoboda Slova’, Tsarev’s press office reported. Earlier, there were reports of the entire building being surrounded by unidentified gunmen.

*apparently one of the more moderate persons in ukraine. The right wing repeatedly attack these people. At the moment there are similarities to post coup chile except it seems that the people standing up to the junta have learned from history and are vastly better prepared.

KIEV, April 15. /ITAR-TASS/. MP Oleh Tsariov, who is a candidate for presidency in the May 25 election, was beaten ruthlessly late night Monday after he walked out of the studios of ITCV channel.

A report on his website said he had been “subjected to an attack by an aggressive armed mob that had been blocking the channel’s building.”

“Officers of the state guard did their best to save him from the outraged militants,” TsarIov’s press service said quoting one of his assistants who had been by his side during the incident.

In the meantime, UNIAN news agency said

the politician managed to get to an ambulance car but the mob did not let it move away from the scene.

After that the mobsters made an arrangement with the police

that Tsariov would be delivered to Ukraine’s Security Service in a prisoner transport van

but since the latter did not arrive upon demand, “TsarIov was taken away to an unknown destination in a whitish car.”

He had come to ICTV to take part in the Freedom Speaking live show.

As it turned out later, he had been taken to the building of the Prosecutor General’s Office

where he spoke to reporters, telling them he would not renounce struggle in the presidential race under any circumstances, including the threats of physical reprisals.

His press service quoted him saying

“peaceful dialogue between the authorities and all residents of the country, as well a search for compromise solutions and understanding offer the only way out of the political crisis and the only method to keeping up unity of the state.

TASS :

"...illegitimate leaders, on the contrary, are attempting to restore the order, which they destroyed by themselves, rising to power as a result of an armed coup. They are falling into their own trap,” Medvedev believes.

“The action triggered counteraction. An offense against the state (the coup in Kiev) — and popular protests in the regions. A chain reaction of events, political and economic,” the head of Russia’s Cabinet stressed.

The prime minister added that Ukraine’s citizens should personally participate in creating their state based on nations’ equality and equality of their languages.

“Today, many people came to understand the true intentions of people, who seized power in Kiev. It means the path to a just society came into view. It is that the people could independently choose its destiny. To express its will by legal means. To take part in forming the contemporary Ukrainian state, based on the equality of nations and languages,” Medvedev emphasizes. “Absolutely independently. Without usurpers, nationalists and criminals. Without tanks and armored vehicles. And without secret visits of CIA chief.”

Right Sector's role in airport's seizure

Soldiers of the Right Sector far-right ultranationalist Ukrainian organization and others, possibly foreign mercenaries, took part in the storm of the airport in the city of Kramatorsk in east Ukraine’s Donetsk Region, representatives of the city’s self-defense units said Tuesday.

“The attackers were clad in uniforms of Right Sector fighters, some attackers were speaking foreign languages. They tried not to communicate with local residents, most likely not to give themselves away. We believe they are mercenaries,” an activist of Kramatorsk self-defense forces said.

The Kramatorsk airport went under control of Ukrainian military earlier on Tuesday but the city is still controlled by local self-defense units.

“We have really been driven out of the airport, but the city is under our control. We won’t let anyone in,” a member of Kramatorsk self-defense forces said, emphasizing that the forces are ready to fight armored vehicles.

“Troops have surrounded the city. Armored vehicles - tanks and APCs - have been placed all around. We are getting ready. If they try to move in, we will have to stop them,” Ponomaryov said.

"All the soldiers and the officers are here," he said. "We are all boys who won't shoot our own people."

If so and they continue to refuse to listen to the people of ukraine and name them terrorists and treat them as such they will not be making many friends. They may even have to take a hard look at themselves, knowing that some hard truths are there.

us mouthpieces continue to escalate a difficult situation, nevertheless more people are becoming aware of the lies and hypocrisy of the pro fascist elements involved in this difficult situation.

18:32 GMT:

Some of the police officers in Donetsk have sided with the city’s pro-Russian protesters, Vitaly Yarema, Ukraine’s first deputy prime minister, was cited as saying by Itar-Tass news agency.

“The situation is very complicated in Donetsk. The mayor and the head of administration are constantly in touch with us. There are police officers, who preserve Ukrainian independence, but there are some police officers, who put on St. George ribbons (the symbol of the protesters),” Yarema said.

18:22 GMT:

The Russian Foreign Ministry has accused Washington of double standards and hypocrisy, saying that the US government had taken completely different approaches toward the Maidan protesters and the pro-federalization demonstrators in southeast Ukraine.

“The US keeps justifying the outrageous acts of the ‘Maidan heroes,’ calling it a people’s revolution, but labels the protests in Donetsk, Kharkov, Lugansk, Slavyansk and other cities a raid by the foreign terrorists. This isn’t just double standards, but outright hypocrisy,” the ministry said.

18:21 GMT:

Washington is “juggling with facts” to blame Russia for being behind the protests in southeast Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“The US State Department is frantically collecting each and every speculation distributed by the current Kiev authorities,” the ministry said. “Take, for example, the two hastily arranged press release from April 13, with a heap of dubious ‘facts’ linking the Russian special forces with the seizure of administrative buildings and coordination of protest action.”

The ministry said that Kalashnikov rifles in the hands of the protesters was very inconclusive “proof” of Russian involvement, as the US State Department is well aware that AK-47s are also used by the Ukrainian army and special forces.

Moscow said that it was stunned by “the stubborn unwillingness or inability [of the US] to see reality for what it is; and a push to force this distorted perception of what is happening in southeast Ukraine upon the rest of the world.”

17:57 GMT:

By saying that “law must be enforced” in the southeast of Ukraine, the US is, in fact, giving its approval to Kiev’s war against its own citizens, the Russian Foreign ministry said in a statement.

“Washington must realize the catastrophic consequences of such reckless support for their Kiev proteges,” the ministry said.

17:06 GMT:

The activists in Donetsk have replaced the Ukrainian flag in front of the mayor’s office with the flag of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
