Tramps video

Recommended Posts

I found this video on Webermans site http://www.ajweberman.com/realtramp1.htm . From the file name one would assume that this is a video of the three tramps. Does anybody know anything about this? Perhaps Alan can enlighten me himself.

Are the tramps in the background towards the end of the footage?

Cheers,

John

Thanks for bringing that out. First few seconds pans the doorway of TBSD, then a dark color

street scene, then black and white video of aftermath with an escorted "perp walk" going

on across the street. W

What fascinated me is the fact that this little gem is compiled from three different film stocks,

but combined only give us 11 seconds, and dimly reproduced at that.

So where are the full length high fidelity sources, that is the question I would ask myself, john.

I talk to Alan Rhodes by telephone several months ago and proivded some interesting insight following the assassination. (John Woods)

Hi John,

Nice to see you posting. Probably showing my ignorance here, but can I ask who Alan Rhodes is?

It only resembles the tramps situation in the resolution version I saw.

What other arrest does it more closely resemble?

Who is in the foreground? Jim Hicks?

Hi James,

Alan was one of the eighteen members of the group. One of the most famous stills is

the individual frame taken from the film footage believe to be showing the assassins

rifle. Besides Alan and John you had Albert Benell, Bryant Boren, Rudy Brenk, Joe

Brown, Anita Gewertz and her son Martin, W.C. Gray, Frances Hayes, George Kincaid,

Earl Mentesasa, Earl Mester, Wyman Parr, Howard Seigler, George Shawver, mr. Speigle

and Larry Thomas. Sadly, Martin underexposed the film footage in the Plaza which would

be most interesting. Alan told me that they were in up against the FBI in making copies

for their own personal use. If you recall, the FBI had flyers place inside all the process

film envelopes asking the photographer to contact the local FBI office. I have one of those

original flyers if you would like to see it.

Hopefully, one day I can return you the favor and send you a copy of my book for all your help should I ever get another publisher

Glad to hear from you!

John w

PS I do have a number of slides made from the DCA film. From selected slides I

made prints. As you can assume, from 16mm to slides and than prints we are losing

quality. I will try and post a few of these images in the near future if warranted.

Here is the film notice. Back then I received several of these with my

slide processing, but not realizing that they might later be significant,

I do not think I saved any of them...at least I have never come across

one. Someone posted this copy on a forum. It is just like the ones in my

slides in 63 and 64. As I recall, the dragnet lasted about three months.

BTW, it has been long assume that this footage shows the arrest of the Three Tramps

when in reality it shows another arrest? in progress.

Hi John,

Just to clarify, this is not footage of the 'three tramps' as we know them from other photos. This is a seperate group yes?

Cheers,

John
