Guest Tom Scully
................................................................ ......................................................................... The math does not add up, Rivera could not have been 78 years of age in 1989 unless he fathered a child born in early 1926 when he was age 15, with an 18 year old woman..... Born in New York City on February 5, 1926, she grew up in Richmond, Virginia. She also lived in Oregon and Texas, but spent most of her life in California. She started work for Pacific Telephone in the 1950's as a Customer Service Specialist, then left to raise her daughter. She also worked as a paraprofessional teacher at Neil Armstrong elementary school in San Ramon. She returned to AT&T in the early 1970's to participate in the development and implementation of the 911 emergency phone system in the bay area, for which she received an "Exceptional Contribution to Business Services" award. She retired in 1989. Natalie was a member of the Danville (CA) Women's Club and the Lodi Women's Club. She volunteered her time for several years, even before her retirement, with the Telephone Pioneers of America in Pleasanton. There she was honored with the Circle of Caring Award for her commitment. Natalie was recognized for her "major contribution to the development of the Museum of the San Ramon Valley." She also volunteered at Kaiser Permanente for more than 10 years in Health Education in Pleasanton, and then at Kaiser in Stockton for some years after she moved to Lodi. Natalie loved music, art and dance. She enjoyed giving gifts to everyone and playing bingo with her friends. She loved to travel, especially to Hawaii where she vacationed many times. Other destinations included Peru, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Morocco, Monaco, France and England. She loved to visit the beach and Lake Tahoe. She leaves behind a daughter, Kimberly Kinser, two grandchildren, Laura Grace and Mason, a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Kevin King..... (I omitted the rest, but apparently her mother remarried and she had additional half siblings.....)
Guest Tom Scully
The information in the last post lead us to this: https://familysearch...M9.1.1/V64V-DL3 Col. Jose Albert Rivera's obit and his daughter Natalie's obit, support the details found in each, except for Rivera's age of 78 years. According to his marriage license, dated 8 January, 1924, Rivera was age 23. This means, if his Social Security death record month and day of his birth are accurate, (6 February), Rivera was actually born in 1900, and was age 89 at time of death on 16 August, 1989. His Social Security death record is: https://familysearch...M9.1.1/J1MM-96V First Name: Jose Middle Name: A Last Name: Rivera Name Suffix: Birth Date: 6 February 1905 Social Security Number: 214-28-5673 Place of Issuance: Maryland Last Residence: Montgomery, Maryland Zip Code of Last Residence: 20895 Death Date: August 1989 Estimated Age at Death: 84 This gentleman was born when his mother was about 48 years old. http://www.funeralplan2.com/memorial/archive?id=114956Dollar Bay Raymond Roy Hanks, 55, a resident of Dollar Bay, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday November 29, 2007. Roy was born on December 8, 1951, in Stambaugh, MI. He was the son of the late R. Roy and Carolyn (Wilson) Hanks of Iron River. He grew up in Iron River, MI and attended the Iron River Schools. He is survived by his wife, Denise of Dollar Bay, MI His children Jesse (Karen) Heikkinen of Dodgeville and Elizabeth Corrigan of Chassell. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Cameron, Bredon, Riley, and DrewElisabeth. His sisters Nancy Smith of Escanaba and Natalie Fredricks of Califorina. He is further survived by his mother-in-law Martha Heikkinen of Woodside Location a brother-in-law Alan (Corrie Hohly) Heikkinen of Calumet and sister-in-law Donna Slining of California. Roy was preceded in death by his father Raymond Roy Hanks in July 1959 and his mother Carolyn Wilson Hanks in September 1991. .... If Rivera was actually born in 1900 or in 1901, at least one government record, Socia; Security, inaccurate. Doug Horne is said to have a copy of Rivera's heavily redacted, heavily classified, military service record. Is Rivera's date of birth redacted or classified? This is also consistent with his age on the 1924 marriage license.: Outlook for the blind: Volumes 25-26 books.google.com Massachusetts Association for Promoting the Interests of the Adult Blind, American Foundation for the Blind - 1931 - Snippet view Dr. Jose Rivera Dr. Rivera is a graduate of the University of San Marco, Lima, Peru, and has done post-graduate work, specializing in pathology, at the Johns Hopkins Medical School and at Columbia University. What is not consistent is an obituary describing a man ten years younger than he was, completing medical school ten years later than he did. Did Col. Jose A. Rivera write his own obituary? William Kelly
I have a copy of Rivera's military record and so does Adele. 800 pages plus. There are three different dates of his birth given on three different documents. I don't know which one, if any of them are correct. He was born in Lima, Peru.
