  1. rdered the exhumation of Simon Bolivar to determine if he was assassinated by arsenic poisoning = ??? "Opened the sacred tomb and took the corpse of Simon Bolivar out"

The time change was a reversion to a standard used since 1912 till 1965. It makes sense to have done so.

The Venezuela flag has been changed about ten times since it was designed. The adding of a star was to honour a wish of Bolivar.

If the right wing is bothered by the idea of the horse running for independence. Good. It shows the world where they stand.

    "Because he can" : Bah.

"In July — August, 2015 command of AFU repeatedly gave criminal orders on approach, but in view of a low moral and psychological condition of ordinary fighters of the AFU which are on a front line and their unwillingness to go for slaughter, these orders were in every possible way sabotaged" — the representative of the Ministry of Defence told.

Earlier today the document on withdrawal of weapons was signed by the head of DPR Alexander Zakharchenko.

We will remind that participants of Contact group on settlement of a situation in Donbass on February 12 this year signed in Minsk coordinated with heads of member countries of "the Norman four" (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine) the Package of measures on implementation of the Minsk Agreement.

The document provides ceasefire, branch of heavy weapons from the line of contact, the beginning of dialogue about restoration of social and economic communications of Kiev and Donbass, and also reform of the constitution of Ukraine for the purpose of decentralization and fixing of "the special status of certain regions of Donetsk and Lugansk areas".

"Kiev repeatedly violated the promises — often actions of AFU cardinally differed from official statements of the Ukrainian politicians, and Kiev answered our peace initiatives with attacks of civil objects, toughening of economic blockade and strengthening of throughput system — that is, completely ignored the Minsk Agreement" — Alexander Zakharchenko reminded.

    particularly :

"We think it is an enormous mistake to refuse to cooperate with the Syrian government and its armed forces, who are valiantly fighting terrorism face to face. We should finally acknowledge that no one but President Assad's armed forces and Kurds militia are truly fighting the Islamic State and other terrorist organizations in Syria."

I'm logging this statemnent because I think it is very important and that time will show it to be so. I stated at the beginning of my logging the Kurdish fight against IS in this thread that ultimnately how the Kurdish people are dealt with by groupings will show the intent by them. So far the US has conspired with Turkey to weaken the Northern Kurds who as yet by the few accounts are holding their own in spite of the direct and indirect assistance the IS is getting from the US and Turkey.

  5. YPG Commander: Turkey has sent two trucks of weapons to gang groups

Gangs affiliated to Al-Nusra, Ahrar Al-Sham and Nureddin Zenki have intensified their attacks on the YPG/YPJ-held Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo for the last one week.

    Monday, September 28, 2015 at 4:00 PM
NEWS DESK - ANF - ARZU DEMİR

Gangs affiliated to Al-Nusra, Ahrar Al-Sham and Nureddin Zenki have intensified their attacks on the YPG/YPJ-held Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo for the last one week. The attacks have left two civilians dead, one of them a child, and 15 others wounded.

YPG Aleppo General Commander Rezan Rojhat answered ANF's questions about the reason why the attacks have intensified, the current situation in the neighborhood and the role of the Turkish state in these attacks.

YPG Commander stated that attacks on Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood have increased in line with the “buffer zone” plan of the Turkish state which -he said- has sent munitions to the gang groups several days ago. Rezan Rojhat remarked that Al-Nusra gangs have deployed all their forces around the neighborhood and are now preparing for a more extensive assault within the coming days.

What is the dimension of the clashes between YPG and gang groups in Aleppo? Do they constitute a part of the routine conflict or is there a particular case in question?

The gangs had already encircled and harassed the region for the past several months. Al-Nusra and Ahrar Al-Sham had already blocked the roads and hindering access. Their attacks have restarted one week ago with the recent debate of a “buffer zone”. They are mainly conducting mortar attacks and clashes have taken place partially. For the last one week, they are dispatching their forces and heavy weapons in all other emplacements to this area. All these preparations point to their plan for a more extensive assault within the coming days. They are also trying to provoke the Arab people against us by means of the press.

To make it more clear; have attacks restarted in line with Turkey's occupation plan under the name of buffer zone?

Right. This buffer zone also involves a part of the Aleppo city. It is quite explicit that these attacks are related to this plan. The gang groups first cut the connection with Efrîn, then deployed their forces around here. They blocked the entrance-exit points of the neighborhood and arrested many people at their checkpoints.

Where exactly does the Turkish state stand in this plan?

The Turkish state has formed an alliance with Al-Nusra ad Ahrar Al-Sham through the Sultan Murat and Sultan Fatih brigades they formed from Turkmens. We identified munitions sent to them by Turkey several days ago.

    Could you detail this point?

Turkey sent two trucks of ammunition to the Aleppo side and delivered them to the areas of Al-Sakur and Huluk held by Al-Nusra. The Turkish state recently manifests an approach like “We will continue providing support if you unite against YPG, but you cannot receive this help if you take up a different position”. We cannot talk about a presence of the Free Syrian Army in Aleppo where there are fronts entirely held by Islamist groups such as Al-Nusra, Ahrar Al-Sham and Nureddin Zenki. Apart from them, there are Turkmen groups.

Are there occurring clashes between YPG and Turkmen brigades in Aleppo?

I would primarily like to point out that YPG has no trouble with any folk, and this includes Turkmens. YPG involves Arab, Turkmen and Christian fighters and we have no problems with them. Besides, Kurds, Arabs and Turkmens live together in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood. We are engaged in a conflict with the armed forces affiliated with the Turkish state and those it supports, such as the Sultan Murat Brigade. Clashes have taken place for some one week now, and the gangs are kind of making a rehearsal. Before that, they had blocked our roads leading to from Aleppo to Efrîn. For the past two days, the gangs joined by Turkmens are directing attacks on our neighborhood with the technical and military support they receive from Turkey. In short, we were not engaged in a conflict with Turkmens so far but we are clashing with them for the last one week.

Do the gangs aim to empty the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood?

True. Sheikh Maqsoud is an area where people feel safe and live together. This is what the gangs want to disturb and spoil. They want to evacuate and isolate the neighborhood. This is the policy they pursue in their currently ongoing attacks. The people's trust in YPG strengthens its basis of existence. We gave the people a confidence the gangs couldn't.

How do these attacks influence the people?

Attacks have left two civilians dead, one of whom was a child, and 15 others wounded. Yet, people remain in the neighborhood and do not mean to leave it as they have a close relation with the YPG and want to take part at the battle front. The people will not surrender to these policies.

Is there anything you would like to add?

Some recent media reports claim that YPG forces have blocked the road leading to Aleppo. There is no such a thing. We have no trouble with the civilian people and we are doing our best to make sure they sustain no harm. It is not us but the presence of the gangs that block the road. We have not made any attempts against that road for 4-5 years now. The only road leading to Aleppo is being blocked by the attacks of the gangs.

(imo it helps a lot to understand what is going on in Ukraine today by studying the history of the Nazi Party in Germany in the first half of the 19'th century. There are many parallels in the formation of and use of the SA (Sturmabteilung), later Ernst Röhm's Brownshirts, and the formation and use of the Hitler Youth ( Jugendbund der NSDAP, Jungsturm Adolf Hitler, Hitlerjugend, Deutsches Jungvolk, Bund Deutscher Mädel ) and their role in the Wehrmacht. The Ukrainian Storm troops, their Youth groups and their actions in steering events in Ukraine as well as the series of events in their history mirrors well with the SA and HJ.)

Ukraine junta in crisis: Behind the fascist riots in Kiev

By Greg Butterfield posted on September 26, 2015

At the end of August, long-simmering tensions within the motley coalition of wealthy oligarchs, pro-Western neoliberal politicians and outright fascists that make up the pro-Western Ukrainian regime based in Kiev boiled over in an unprecedented wave of violence.

    ukraine_1001-640x935.jpg

New Yorkers protest Kiev ultra-rightists here and plan to condemn Petro Poroshenko at U.N. on Sept. 29.
    WW photo: Greg Butterfield

In Kiev, Ukraine, thousands of neo-Nazis staged a violent riot outside the Verkhovna Rada, or parliament, on Aug. 31. Two National Guard troops and one police officer were killed. Over 100 people were injured, including Deputy Interior Minister Vasyl Paskal. Thirty people were arrested. (The Telegraph, Aug. 31)

Ihor Humeniuk, himself a National Guard soldier, was arrested for throwing a grenade that killed a fellow National Guardsman. Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov claims that Humeniuk confessed “and introduced himself as an [openly pro-fascist] Svoboda party member and a Sich battalion fighter, on leave from Aug. 3 to Sept. 3.” (UNIAN News, Aug. 31)

Photos quickly surfaced on social media of the suspect posing with fascist paraphernalia, including the racist Confederate flag of the U.S.

Ironically, Avakov established the National Guard in spring 2014 to incorporate neo-Nazi paramilitary gangs into Ukraine’s state apparatus. The alleged goal at that time was to use the fascists as shock troops against the left and against the people in the Russian-speaking regions. But they were supposed to remain under the discipline of the neoliberal regime.

In the days that followed the Aug. 31 riot, ultraright protests spread to Odessa, Kharkov and other cities. Avakov was allegedly targeted for assassination by the commander of the Svoboda volunteer battalion, Andrey Yangolenko. The Security Service of Ukraine claims to have foiled the plot. (Fort Russ, Sept. 11)

The trigger was a face-saving move by Ukrainian oligarch and President Petro Poroshenko. Under pressure from his patrons in Washington and the European Union, Poroshenko aimed to preserve the Minsk 2 ceasefire process with Russia by adopting constitutional changes that give the illusion of autonomy to the rebellious Donbass mining region. In exchange for autonomy, the Donbass was to remain within the national framework of Ukraine.

But below the surface, Ukraine’s deepening economic crisis, painful austerity measures, and subservience to Western banks and U.S.-NATO military power are fueling the junta’s internal contradictions.

As the fascist riot erupted, Kiev, the U.S. and NATO began their provocative “Operation Sea Breeze” war games in the Black Sea, targeting the Russian Federation. “Sea Breeze,” incorporating Ukrainian military forces from the Odessa and Nikolayev regions, is being called the largest exercise in NATO history. (Novorossia Today, Aug. 31)

    Siege of the Rada

The current Ukrainian regime came to power in the wake of protests dominated by the same fascists, and backed by the U.S. government, which toppled the lawfully elected government of President Viktor Yanukovych in early 2014.

People in the primarily Russian-speaking Donbass region, formerly part of eastern Ukraine, broke away after the coup and established the independent Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. Anti-fascist militias there have repeatedly defeated Kiev’s military incursions.

Since signing a ceasefire agreement in Minsk last winter, Poroshenko’s government has failed to meet any of its Minsk 2 requirements, while continually violating the truce and targeting civilians in Donbass.

Nearly 7,000 people have died since the start of Kiev’s “Anti-Terrorist Operation,” according to the United Nations.

Fascist groups and volunteer battalions form the backbone of Kiev’s war machine. These ultraright forces are infuriated by the current diplomatic maneuvering. Instead, they demand an immediate resumption of full-scale genocidal war against the rebellious Donetsk and Lugansk republics — and against Russia too.

The Aug. 31 protest was led by the head of Svoboda, Oleh Tyahnybok, a major figure in the 2013-2014 “Euromaidan” movement that unseated Yanukovych. The Right Sector, Oleh Lyashko’s Radical Party and Ukrop also took part. Many protesters were active duty members of volunteer battalions.

Inside the Rada, the ultraright Lyashko and other Radical Party deputies shouted “Shame!” in an attempt to drown out the speaker of parliament as he introduced Poroshenko’s draft amendments.

In the end, Poroshenko’s proposal was adopted by 265 deputies (out of 450). It must be approved twice more before going into effect. (112.international, Sept. 2)

Emphasizing that the measures were for show only, “Parliament speaker Volodymyr Hroysman was adamant that the [draft constitutional changes] would not mean special status for Donetsk and Lugansk.”

And two days before the vote, Poroshenko himself was quoted as saying, “No matter how you look for it there, there is no special status.” (Russia Beyond the Headlines, Aug. 29)

Representatives of Donbass harbored no illusions.

“As of today, no point of the Minsk agreements has been fully implemented by Kiev,” declared Alexander Zakharchenko, head of the Donetsk People’s Republic. “Military hardware has not been withdrawn from the engagement line; moreover, its number has been increased, while the law on amnesty has not been adopted by the Verkhovna Rada.”

Zakharchenko stressed that according to Minsk 2, Kiev should negotiate with the Donbass republics on changes to the constitution. Instead, “Kiev has made no steps forward and has issued openly provocative statements,” he said. Poroshenko has refused any direct discussions.

“As regards the constitutional reform in the sphere of decentralization — it can’t be called anything but a farce,” said Zakharchenko. “That law, which has already led to the deaths of people in front of the Rada, is not only out of line with the Minsk agreements, but directly contradicts them.” (Novorossia Today, Sept. 2)

Kiev’s infighting led to a rare period of relative peace in the Donbass republics in early September. The capital city of Donetsk, for instance, saw several nights without shelling for the first time in months.

However, attacks by Ukrainian forces continue against frontline towns and villages. On the night of Sept. 13-14, the villages of Spartak and Avdeevka were attacked, Novorossia Today reports.

And more than 90,000 Ukrainian troops and massive amounts of military hardware supplied by NATO remain poised on the “contact line” with Donetsk and Lugansk, awaiting the signal for a new offensive.

    Painful austerity measures

Ukraine’s economy is wracked by crisis, with the gross domestic product expected to fall 9 percent this year. Inflation is projected at 47 percent for 2015, and exports to both the European Union and Russia are in freefall. (NewColdWar.org, Sept. 7)

On Aug. 27, four Western banks agreed to a 20-percent reduction of their portion of Ukraine’s sovereign debt in order to prevent the country’s default (bankruptcy). This “haircut” provided immediate debt relief of $3.6 billion and extended Kiev’s repayment schedule for a new $11.5-billion International Monetary Fund loan by four years.

“The IMF and United States put bondholders under intense pressure during the five-month negotiations to accept short-term losses,” noted an Agence France-Presse report Sept. 6, “in return for preventing Ukraine’s pro-Western leaders from being forced into resuming their reliance on Russia.”

Altogether, the IMF has pledged $40 billion to Ukraine since the coup. Most of this money is being pumped into the war effort, while austerity measures are piled on the working class.

“The government has already raised long-subsidized energy prices, secured a debt-relief deal last month, and is in the final stages of setting up an independent anti-corruption agency with broad powers,” reported the Wall Street Journal on Sept. 7.

“To encourage Ukraine’s efforts, the U.S. has signaled it is prepared to offer another round of billion-dollar loan guarantees if Kiev keeps the bailout program on track,” according to the Journal.

According to a poll conducted in late July by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation: “Basically every Ukrainian felt the consequences of the current financial-economic crisis: 59 percent very seriously, and another 37 percent to a certain degree. The main economic consequence of the crisis for the majority of the population was the rise in prices (75 percent) and the reduced purchase of clothing and other items (72 percent) associated with this, the decrease in consumption of food products (67 percent) and the limitation of purchase of medications and medical services (55 percent). Every fourth citizen felt a reduction in wages.”

“The overwhelming majority of Ukrainians do not believe in the success of reforms that the government is trying to implement: 32 percent have certain hopes, although they do not believe that this will happen, and 30 percent are totally hopeless. However, only 30 percent on the whole believe that reforms will be successful.” (NewColdWar.org, Sept. 12)

  7. Evan, like you I don't know who.

I have no reason to change my judgement that there was a US supported coup in Kiev that grew out of a popular expression of discontent that was usurped by lumpen elements controlled by wealthy Nazis, very much like the German Nazi Party SA (brown shirts) leading up to the seizure of power in Germany by the Nazi Party, serving the economic interests of Western Capital with an ultimate aim of controlling the vast wealth of Russia and at the same time destroying the elements in society that always fights against a Racist State and austerity as a solution to Capitals crisis, namely progressive proletarian groupings.

Like the German Nazis the Kiev Nazis have Racialised society and criminalised the Left and like Nazis they rule by terror.

The free Republics are Anti-Fascist. They welcome the help from left wing internationalists in their battalions.

The Western interests arm and train the known Ukrainian Nazi Battalions. The msm propagandises favourably for the Kiev Junta.

Right from the start the people in the east have asked to be listened to. One of the first things the junta did was to ban the russian language that the majority of their eastern opposition speak.

The downing of the plane has been used as a cover to slaughter thousands of people.

Clearly the Nazis do not care one bit about the people who died. The US likewise have no sympathy. Mouthpieces of Washington have stated as much.

The Nazis fight to control and dominate economic resources. The Rebels fight for a fascist free life.

In that context. If the Rebels (, who did not have the weapon nor the means to use them properly, but lets say they did,) had shot a missile that hit the plane they would know that very likely there were satellite photos of the event, likewise they could not know whether or not there were people with cameras etc that recorded the event in some way. Instead they protested right from the start against the categorical statements by pro kiev organs. It would be in the interest of the Nazis to have any anti Rebel material released. Instead it's witheld. If the Nazis shot it down it would be in their interest to suppress anything that showed the truth. In fact that is what looks like what has happened. The necessary proof is not forth coming. As per the documetary, people who can refute the Rebels statements and the statements of eye witnesses have disappeared.

    Show me otherwise.

But plane doesn’t reach the ultimate goal and crashed in the east of Ukraine in the area of the village Hrabovo, near Torez. On board were 283 passengers and 15 crew members — all of them died. The reaction on the air accident in the media followed almost before when the tragedy happened itself. West categorically blamed the accident on Russia, but still didn’t provide any evidences. 9. Thank you Ernie, I've referenced your correction in my old thread re Zack.

I've tried to remember where I got the info re assistant to no avail. I thought it might have been in a file at the MSC. There's a lot there and I don't have time to check all. Interesting that the statement was there (wherever I got that from) at all given it's not true and that it is a recurring misinfo for a number of persons.

  10. Appreciate your comentary, Ernie.

I wonder if you can confirm or refute :

    "Zack Van Landringham...

...was an administrative assistant to J. Edgar Hoover during WWII, for 2 1/2 years. He worked for the FBI in various states for a total of 27 years, retiring in 1958 to work for the Misssissippi Sovereignty Commission as Chief of the Investigative Division."
  11. Red Star Over Donbass Look to the sky: A visit with the communists of the Ghost Brigade

    By Susann Witt-Stahl

    Junge Welt

Ukrainian positions are just 500 meters away. "In the first light of dawn, it’s particularly dangerous. The snipers try their luck,” warns a fighter of the communist unit, pointing to a hill. On the adjacent barricade stands a sign that says "Mines." The front at the village of Donetsky, where unit 404 is stationed, lies about 40 kilometers northwest of the city of Alchevsk, which can be reached only by nearly impassable roads, sometimes even through rough terrain.

serveImage.jpg Photo by Susann Witt-Stahl / Junge Welt

“That was the Ukrainian tanks," says a political commissar with the nom de guerre Alexander Krot, explaining why most buildings in the area are destroyed or damaged. "In Soviet times Donetsky still had 8,000 inhabitants, after the collapse [of the USSR], 4,500, and since the war began, there are only 800." One of them, Galina Selimova, invites us to visit her devastated house. "We have worked all our lives, but instead of paying our pensions, Kiev shoots at us.”

"The constant artillery fire against civilians is terrorism," says Krot, presenting military equipment captured by his unit in the Battle of Debaltsevo. The father of two young children came from the neighboring city of Stakhanov. "When the new government began to arrest and kill opponents of Maidan, we had no choice but to take up arms."

"Hitler kaput!" shouts a fighter, who smiles when she hears that a journalist has come from Germany. In unit 404 there are some women. Among them is a young Israeli woman who also wants to provide her fellow citizens with reliable information: “The Russian-language press in Israel is very one-sided, pro-Kiev." Nika, a 29-year-old saleswoman from Lugansk, has a son in primary school. Why does she risk that he may grow up an orphan? "I want him to have a future without fascism"—she stresses that she is fighting for her son, not in spite of him.

In 404’s camp there is electricity, but no water. The equipment is beyond poor. The places where personal hygiene is taken care of can hardly be called “sanitary facilities.” Rice porridge with a few scraps of meat for dinner, a bun with compote for dessert, sweetened tea with fresh fruit. The supply is spartan. The only entertainment at the front: kittens romping through the small canteen barrack. “The unit’s love for animals is huge. Tanks have stopped firing to save dogs from death,” reports Nemo, an Italian anti-imperialist. It’s evident that he and his comrades take no joy in killing when they explain why they are here. "I am a communist, so it’s my duty to prevent the return of a fascist bloc in the heart of Europe.” Lucky, an anarchist skinhead from Madrid, wanted to do something against the “rampant anti-Russian racism.”

The international left is making sacrifices here -- Western war correspondents, however, make themselves scarce. "They are far too scared,” laughs a partisan who does PR work for the unit. There may be another reason: there is scarcely any recyclable material here for demonization of the insurgents. There is no presence of Russian nationalists or other right-wing forces so willingly used by the NATO-patriotic media establishment as arguments to support the campaign of the Ukrainian army and paramilitaries in Donbass. Alexey Markov, a political commissar whose unit calls him "Dobriy," the Good, because of his kindness and infinite patience, offers a humanist vision of the world based on Marxism-Leninism. He finds the signals from Kiev disturbing: "After the battle in Debaltsevo, we found fallen from the other side wearing badges with the inscription "slave owner" on their uniforms," says Markov. "There is no doubt that in the Ukrainian volunteer battalions, the prevailing view is that those living in the Donbass are ‘subhuman.’”

Nothing remains in Markov and his comrades of machismo or the romance of war. Standing at attention and other military rituals are largely dispensed with in the headquarters on Lenin Street in Alchevsk. Some everyday scenes are not without humor: at Dobriy’s desk, the little daughter of a soldier eats chocolate ice cream with gusto, fighters surf the Internet on his PC or gossip over coffee. In the office of the political commander, there is a similar buzz.

But Markov knows this is no idyll – and refuses to spread illusions. “The United States will continue with President Petro Poroshenko on the proven motto, ‘He’s a bastard, but he’s our bastard,’” he says, and the German government, although opposing neo-Nazi marches in their own country, generously overlooks commemorations of Nazi criminals in Ukraine. Markov describes the situation since Minsk-2 as a war of attrition. Currently there are no big fights, but every month there are dead and wounded in his unit. He does not mention figures.

"Of course, we are not doves, but soldiers," says Pyotr Biryukov, the military commander of 404. Never forget what happened after the Reichstag fire, says the engineer from Siberia. Biryukov is convinced that war will only end when the "fascist plague" is defeated. The events in Odessa of May 2, 2014, in which a mob manipulated by Ukrainian fascists set fire to the House of Trade Unions and killed dozens of people, finally convinced him that he had to take up the armed struggle. "For future generations to look to the sky, not into the abyss."

Demirtaş: People of Cizre did not surrender

Speaking in Cizre today, HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş saluted the resistance of the people and called for a recommencement of the negotiations with Kurdish people’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

    ŞIRNAK - ANF

Speaking in Cizre today following the lifting of the curfew which remained in effect since September 4, HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş saluted the resistance of the people and called for a recommencement of the negotiations with Kurdish people’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. He stressed that “If we can ensure a unity of people, they cannot continue this cruelty even for a day”.

A delegation of DTK, HDP and DBP, composed of HDP co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, DTK co-chairs Selma Irmak and Hatip Dicle, HDP deputies and representatives of various NGOs have this morning entered Cizre district of Şırnak and met people after days long curfew in the town was lifted.

The delegation was welcomed by thousands chanting slogans “Long Live resistance of Cizre”, “Long Live Leader Apo”, while HDP co-chair Demirtaş and DTK co-chair Irmak held speeches addressing to the people in front of the HDP office in the town.

    IRMAK: THEY HAVE BEEN FRUSTRATED

Drawing attention to the resistance of Cizre people against tanks and mortar fires, Irmak saluted the women, youths, elderly and mothers who all turned Cizre into a land of freedom and added that the state forces were disappointed in the face of strong resistance waged by the people.

DEMİRTAŞ: WE SALUTE THE HONORABLE RESISTANCE

Speaking after, HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş called upon the people with conscience to go to Cizre and see what has taken place there. He added that the AKP held 120 thousand people hostage for 10 days, while the people of Cizre, however, responded to attacks with strong resistance.

Demirtaş said all the governments coming to power, all the presidents, prime ministers and chiefs of the military have imposed massacre policies on Kurdish people who still continued to shout out peace despite all the repressions and cruelties, and despite being labeled as “terrorists”. “This is why Ankara is afraid of you” said Demirtaş, adding that the state thought it could make people surrender by tanks and mortars and solve the Kurdish solution by bombing the houses as it has always tried to do.

HDP Co-chair stressed that the people of Cizre have declared their demand to govern themselves and wanted to live a dignified life with their religion and culture.

“If you have any respect to the will of the people, then you will sit down and speak with the leader of these people, you will negotiate, listen to people instead of using tanks and mortars and do whatever must be done for peace and resolution”, he said.

    CALL FOR UNITY

Demirtaş went on calling on all the peoples of Turkey to unite against war and cruelty, saying “If we can ensure unity, they cannot continue this cruelty even for a single day”.

Demirtaş further criticized the denial of people's will through the removal of Cizre co-mayor Leyla İmret from her post, who has always been among the people and served them. He added that those who have done this will give an account for it both judicially and politically.

'NO NEED TO ASSIGN GOVERNORS, PEOPLE CAN RULE THEMSELVES'

Demirtaş said it was rather the governor of Şırnak that must be removed from his post, and added that there was no need to assign governors from Ankara as people can govern themselves.

“These people can elect their own administrators, solve their problems, including economical, by themselves, live with their own solutions and culture”, he stressed.

    'AKP’S PERSECUTION WILL END'

Demirtaş underlined that it was now time to heal the wounds of Cizre people in unity without being afraid of those who attacked the people with tanks and mortars.

Remarking that co-mayors and deputies will be together with the people, Demirtaş further said while healing the wounds they will also continue to ask the account of what has been done to people through judicial and political ways. HDP Co-chair stressed that the all those responsible will give an account of this cruelty, adding; “The AKP’s persecution will end”, said Demirtaş.

Following the speeches, the delegation started its work to assess the situation in the town.

  13. It seemed to me that the posts. (I read them as they were being posted), were promotional padding slanted with a double purpose that is reasonably taken as yet another attack on the forum which I can understand the management reacting to. This is nothing new. People have done it before.

Regarding rehashes of things. This is not a scientific journal. With new members and new ways of looking at old stuff it's inevitable that things will be repeated. That's nothing new either. To what extent other members encopurage, and do so themselves, referencing older threads sorts that out.

There are sections to the education forum that are specifically for members to post their particular research.

I'd just take these subtle and not so subtle attempts to control the forum from outside the admin as something that's happened before and will happen again.

ŞIRNEX – With the nine-day blockade of the Kurdish town of Cizre, Turkey lifted, delegations of human rights organizations and activists have begun to enter the town.

Turkish security forces maintained a 24-hour curfew on the town of Cizre, Turkey from September 4 until this morning, leading to the deaths of at least 21 civilians. Police blocked ambulance access to Cizre’s neighborhoods and shot civilians who left their homes. In response, groups of politicians, activists and thousands of ordinary citizens marched towards Cizre across the rough mountain terrain, demanding that the curfew be lifted. Today at 7 a.m., the popular resistance succeeded and the Turkish state lifted the curfew.

Delegations are now beginning to pour into Cizre, hoping to tend to the town’s wounds. Peoples’ Democratic Party co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ and a convoy of Parliamentary representatives, women’s and Kurdish rights activists, human rights workers and lawyers reached Cizre this morning after being kept out by police barricades for days.
The people of Cizre took to their balconies to applaud the incoming convoy, chanting “murderer Erdoğan” (referring to Turkey’s president). Thousands poured into the streets this morning in protest of the killings after a 75-year-old man was killed last night and a small child was wounded in an explosion this morning.

A 60-person delegation of medical workers and social workers have now set out for Cizre to provide volunteer medical services to the town. The anti-war activists of Diyarbakır’s Peace Mothers Assembly; musical groups; and the Human Rights Association and Human Rights Foundation of Turkey are among the many other groups also sending delegations to Cizre today.

  16. I read a bit further into the article . : "Researcher Dick Russell interviewed Walker for his book The Man Who Knew Too Much, and was told a private investigation revealed brothers Larrie and Bob Schmidt may have connected with Oswald and may have been responsible for the shooting at Walker’s home. 22 The Schmidt brothers were far-right political activists, part of a scene described by Peter Dale Scott as a “Minutemen-Cuban exile-General Walker milieu supported by H.L. Hunt.” Oswald the Marxist would have no business making friends with such persons. The paths of Oswald, Larrie Schmidt and General Walker would cross again in the autumn of 1963. Schmidt and Walker tie back to Munich, where a right-wing newspaper would print a story on November 29, 1963 claiming Oswald was responsible for the Walker assassination attempt. 23 Marina Oswald began relating her version of the alleged Walker attempt four days later on December 3, 1963."

Continuing on my previous theme : (sep2) "the statement about Oswald having a marxist analysis as a result of a dislike of two contemporary systems is wrong as he himself states he leans towards the Minutemen, not marxism, as being a solution to an impasse."

' Oswald the Minutemen supporter could indeed have business making friends with such (The Schmidt brothers) persons. '

The shooting at the window frame in Walkers wall as a staged event.:

For Oswald, per his diary writings, as a part of a strategy of causing a conflict between left and right.

For the Minutemen as a pre cursor to Nov22 with Oswald as the cheated one, the Patsy.

  17. Urgent appeal: Protest Ukrainian fascist congress in Madrid

    Dear comrades!

We appeal to you to organize widespread protests against the neo-fascist Ukrainian World Congress to be held in Madrid, Spain.

According to our information, on September 11-13, 2015, in Madrid, Spain, a neo-fascist, pro-Bandera rally will be organized by the Ukrainian World Congress. Within a few days in the Spanish capital, the international organization of Ukrainian nationalists plans to hold processions, meetings, and conferences aimed at supporting the fascist junta in Ukraine,
    ...

The history and creation of this international organization is connected with one of the ideologues of Ukrainian fascism, R.Shuhevichem, who laid its foundations during the Great Patriotic War with the assistance of Nazi Germany. In fact, it was officially registered in 1967 with the support of the United States.

The Ukrainian World Congress, the organizer of these activities, is an international organization financed by the United States, which aims at promoting the dissemination of neo-Nazi ideology around the world through the Ukrainian diaspora, to create positive public opinion about the actions of the Ukrainian death squads in eastern Ukraine.

We urge all progressive, anti-fascist and working class forces, communist and socialist organizations, to unite and organize to fight against the international organization of Ukrainian supporters of fascism. To the extent possible, to organize pickets, rallies, and protests to prevent the events in Spain.

Fascism in Europe shall not pass!

    Long live international communist solidarity!

    With revolutionary greetings,

  18. The paragraph starts with this : "If Oswald’s Marxist tendencies had been more informed, his subscription and party membership activity should have been limited to one or other of Communist Party USA or the Socialist Worker’s Party." and then mentions the disputes between the two parties.

I say an informed stance does not mean that support for both is unreconcileable. In fact a support for both is an indication of a deeper marxist analysis.

Further the statement about Oswald having a marxist analysis as a result of a dislike of two contemporary systems is wrong as he himself states he leans towards the Minutemen, not marxism, as being a solution to an impasse.

In toto that paragraph is flawed in a number of ways.

Perhaps it is just stating its proposition wrongly. Idk.

As it stands, at the beginning of the article, I don't see what it is supposed to do. I don't think it can be used as an explanation for what the BYP's are suppopsed to mean.

At the same time it may indeed mean something. They appear pristine and the wrapping paper by the gate may have held one or both. ie, one or both were specifically acquired just for this use.

  19. The approach here is to take something of the presentation and mention points that may be faulty. In this instance something that doesn't directly deal with the BYP's but the author deems important enough to include in the introduction area of the article. (hence my mentioning I don't necessarily dispute any particular conclusions of the overall article.) IF the paragraph is significant to making points then having these details correct is important. As this doesn't seem to be the case, why is the paragraph there at all? What point does the paragraph make as is?

  20. I'm not necessarily disputing various conclusions but this paragraph :

"If Oswald’s Marxist tendencies had been more informed, his subscription and party membership activity should have been limited to one or other of Communist Party USA or the Socialist Worker’s Party. Factional splits and philosophical differences had led to bitter divisions between the two organizations. Oswald’s correspondence through 1962 and 1963 with various left-wing outfits shows him apparently unaware or unconcerned with these splits. Oswald assumed a personal stance, articulated during social occasions at the time, that he disliked both the Soviet and American political systems and instead endorsed Marxist analysis and ideals. Yet in Texas and Louisiana, in 1962 and 1963, he worked and socialized with, for the most part, persons of the right. 8 Oswald’s Marxist identity should be considered a front, and his communications with left-wing organizations insincerely motivated."

    needs a look at.

"Factional splits and philosophical differences had led to bitter divisions between the two organizations." - is right but during this time frame there were indications that the two were moving closer again. Particularly regarding Cuba. Superficially one might say that there is a conflict in trying to join both, a deeper analysis may give reasons to support rapproachment.

"he disliked both the Soviet and American political systems and instead endorsed Marxist analysis and ideals" - in his diary he endorsed the Minutemen as a way to resolve and use the tensions between the two political systems.

NEWS CENTER - A Palestinian woman has called for justice for a Turkish soldier who raped her as she tried to cross the Syrian-Turkish border.

On August 22, L.B. tried to cross the Syrian-Turkish border along with her father and brother. She has told Sputnik News that she was raped at the border in the village of Güveççi, located in the Hatay province of Turkey. Soldiers raped L.B. and tortured her father and brother, then sent the family back to Syria. The family has now returned to Turkey to file charges. "I want the soldier who raped me to be charged so that what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else," said L.B. L.B. said that the incident had left her severely psychologically effected.

"I wanted to cross to Turkey with my children in order to escape the war in Syria," L.B.'s father, A.B., said in his testimony to the court. "Two meters after we had crossed the border fence in the Güveççi village along with others, a soldier controlling the crossing suddenly shouted at me and violently pulled me by my collar." MÊRDÎN - A Turkish military commander, notorious for the rapes and killings of civilians that took place under his watch in Kurdistan, has now been promoted and reassigned to the region. Women survivors of Musa's rule say they hope that one day he will be tried.

Turkish military officer Musa Çitil became notorious for the extrajudicial assassinations, rapes and sexual harassment that his soldiers perpetrated under his command in Northern Kurdistan (in Turkey) during the 1990s. Victims and survivors brought several legal suits against Musa, but Turkish courts let him go free in a legal process criticized by the European Court of Human Rights. Now, military officials have promoted Musa to major general and reassigned him to Kurdistan. He will serve as the regional commander in the largely Kurdish province of Diyarbakır.

Musa's most notorious crimes took place when he was in charge of the regional military police command in the Dêrik region of Mardin province. In 1993, 13 residents of a local village were assassinated in the area under his command. In 1993 and 1994, his soldiers repeatedly arrested and raped a local woman, who eventually came forward. However, the charges were dropped. JINHA spoke with women in the Dêrik region about what they experienced.

40-year-old Hediye Çeviren recalled the day in 1993 when soldiers raided their village of Xîrar. Soldiers killed Hediye's husband, father, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and father-in-law. They then destroyed the house using explosives and arrested the remainder of the household.

"Musa Çitil was the captain for Dêrik at the time. He was the one who carried out this massacre," said Hediye. "They brutally killed our husbands and children; then they said 'we killed terrorists.'" Musa was acquitted of ordering the massacre.

"As if it wasn't enough, they made him the regional commander for Diyarbakır," said Hediye. "We wanted to see these people tried. We were expecting to see them punished and removed from their posts, but instead they promoted them and made them responsible for the region." Hediye said that she did not want to see her remaining children, who grew up fatherless since that day, live in fear of also being killed by Musa Çitil.

Fatma Erek, 42, described the day that soldiers raided the village. They took her husband away. For hours, she waited for news from him, but soldiers refused to say where they had taken them. Fatma had recently given birth to her third child. The next morning, she got the news that her husband had been killed.

"The world fell down around me. I had no idea what me and my three children would do," said Fatma. Soldiers refused to surrender the bodies of her husband and the two other family members killed that day.

Fatma said that she was devastated by the news that Musa Çitil had been reassigned to the region. "But we will fight until Musa Çitil is tried. Sooner or later, those who persecute us in our own land will be tried."

Fatma Çeviren, 80, said that the soldiers took away her son that day. Then, the soldiers then forced her to lie down in the snow. She never saw him again. Soldiers killed several of her children.

"I went to identify my children and I couldn't recognize them," she said. "I hope that those who put us through this pain will go before a court one day and be tried."

  22. The Internet blew up dispute: who threw the grenade into fighters of national guard? Avakov claims that it is nazis; nazis shout that is provocations of the power for the purpose of discredit of nazis; Poroshenko it is transparent hints that a half of the Verkhovna Rada were on sale to Putin who bribed Lyashk, and Lyashko, in turn, bribed Tyagnybok and gave it money for the grenade. So who after all threw the grenade? Yes all of them together also threw. Both Avakov, and Poroshenko, and Lyashko with Tyagnybok. In total those who decided that they are more right right and laws to them not than a pisana. In total those who, having arranged slaughter on the Maidan, blocked the investigation begun by the commission of the Russian today. The investigation which proved that any of protesters wasn't killed with a bullet of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In total those who, shouting about annexation of the Crimea, for some reason, sent troops to Donbass. In total those who produced so-called "voluntary battalions", and I called murders of civilians a civic duty. The death of the fighter of national guard which we saw on the air today, as well as those death which we saw one and a half years ago and all these one and a half years in a row is everything their hands business. Having destroyed the state, having destroyed bases of a law and order, having let out demons of national discord they created the atmosphere in which all evil spirits of Ukraine povylazit from the dirtiest gates and today's ball governs.
