  1. That doesn't go far enough into describing exactly why : The EU. Our parliament have surrendered wholesale, the powers it requires to legislate new laws in MANY areas - including privatisation of public services. All EU "demands" to 'homogenise' the whole of Europe, with Brussels the sole power to make new laws. No one elected them. You can't vote them out. They demand, and get, national sovereignty over many key areas - roads&transport, health, energy, etc.... They lied to the voters in 1975 on the one referendum given to the people about staying in the EEC (Trade-bloc ONLY!) and then successive governments have moved the UK deeper and deeper into that corrupt, undemocratic morass that is the EU....and nobody can do anything about it....most EU directives they now have to add to the law books, aren't sold as being from the EU. NHS is next on the block for cherry-picking...and nary a word about it being enforced on us from the EU....because the NHS is the lodestone of our country, and not many would stand for it... Further reading about the UK's part in the creation of this monster, and what exactly it's doing : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4382602/387.pdf LONG read, but scary in just what our politicians are NOT telling the people....
  2. Rupert Murdoch gets a plastic-plate filled with shaving foam shoved in his face. Inside the Parliamentary committee room where he and his son are being "interrogated" about the scandal. His wife leaped to his defence.
  3. 39%. Still a controlling interest, but he wanted the full 100%. Seems he's pulled out of that now, with all the mounting criticisms on him, his companies, and the people employed therein.
  4. I think most newspapers, and even the government itself, in the UK, use the 1,000 Million when referring to "billion". Seems to be applying more to scientific journals too, these days. People tend to shy away from how truly massive a "real" billion is
  5. Yeah, not good enough. By a long chalk. Closing it, while keeping her on is a smack in the face for the victims. No proper inquiry. No proper sanctions. And he STILL hasn't apologised. "Regrettable" my hairy arse.
  6. These feelings you are experiencing; paranoia, low self-esteem, lack of confidence: Tell me about them. When did they begin?
  7. BBC4 just had a 9/11 documentary on - both sides, scientists with proof, and Truthers without. Scientists had calm, reasoned, logical, provable claims. Truthers swore a lot at the interviewer, especially when their "claims" were shown to be not only false, but in many cases outright lies. Edit : You may just need to use a UK proxy... http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00fbd8g/The_Conspiracy_Files_Series_2_9_11_The_Truth_behind_the_Third_Tower/
  8. Heh. Poor research indeed. no one saw the Flight 93 crash, my hairy arse. http://www.sptimes.com/News/091201/Worldandnation/A_blur_in_the_sky__th.shtml http://www.post-gazette.com/headlines/20010912crashnat2p2.asp Several eye-witness accounts. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/10/us/10cnd-shanksville.html?ref=us Not only a witness, but she took pictures! And is harassed by "truthers" for it. Were YOU one of those harassers, Mr. Fetzer? Hmmm? http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/s_90823.html and more. Now, who are we to believe? Dozens of eye-witnesses who ACTUALLY saw the event, or semi-anonymous idiots posting vague, defamatory, unsupported-by-evidence-or-proof and malicious fantasies on-line? Answers on a postcard to : The Bin Office of Professor James Fetzer. Somewhere. USA.
  9. "weak track record" would be a step-up for them. NO track record, on the other hand.....would be more factual
  10. I also saw the live TV feeds - in college. From just after the 1st aeroplane impact, anyway. Also? What's an "aerodynamically impossible speed" for a 767? Mach 12? I believe we all know they're very capable, and robustly designed to fly at over 500MPH at near ground level, even if they don't do that routinely, (especially carrying passengers) as lots of videos available on the intawebs show. Repeatedly. In great quantity. Time after time. Quite entertaining really, and somewhat dangerous. A good sneeze, or hiccough and you're cartwheeling into the ground...but a terrorist on a suicide mission doing the same into a tall building is.....what? UNPOSSABULL!? If the "recommended" Flight Envelope for a 757/767 specifies (let's say) 250KnPH at 500ft or less, calculate for us the Vno/Mmo of a faster speed, and the effects on the airframe over the course of, what was the time of hijack to impact? 2 hours? Do the same for the real Flight Envelope specs, too. And show us the math you used. This should be fun
  11. Well, as there's a distinct lack of "Breaking News" flashes/interruptions, I'ma guessing the match is not being attacked by anyone?
  12. Rambles and opines from legality to morality to religion to some justification for misogynistic actions to differing forms of governments, and I don't remember what....
  13. 25th here, early evening. 12 hours+ to go
  14. Wow. That video.....rambles all over the place! And he doesn't really say *anything* of substance in the whole hour?? Why did I waste an hour of my life watching that?!
  15. One would suspect, rather than being exaggerated, the actual numbers involved would be under-reported, because of the nature of the killings, and disposal afterwards. Ditto with the Russians figures of murdering their own, both during and after the war.
  16. http://www.911myths.com/index.php/Barbara_Olson_calls seems a good place to start looking for info.
  17. We'll find out in just under a week. going on what I've seen here, and in America, he'll postpone it 6 months or so. Or maybe to the Olympics in London next year
  18. That's what I was asking Just to do some checking. In a purely scientific research manner.
  19. Yeah, but Dale Brown has everyone throwing nukes, too, then asks "What is this? A Dale Brown novel?" Good reads, though
  20. Can we have some checkable details on these "predictions" please? And you're forgetting books! Tom Clancy wrote about a severely disgruntled Japan Airlines pilot, angry at the loss of his son in a recent conflict, flying his airliner into the Capitol Building, killing almost all of Congress.... now if only that was real, and not fiction, eh? Edit : also, Stephen King, writing as Richard Bachman, had the main character of "Running Man" (you might remember the Schwarzenegger abortion version film) fly a jumbo jet into a very tall office building to kill the show's host, at the end.
  21. I think a lot of people here are either missing, or ignoring the fact that while The Pentagon is the headquarters of the (almost all?) entire US Armed Forces, it's basically nothing but the world's largest office. It's not ringed with anti-air defences, and it's not overflown by a CAP (Combat Air Patrol) 24/7. Its CCTV and internal security were somewhat adequate to protect against a few gunmen trying to break in, but not against a multi-ton aircraft at high-speed pancaking into it.
  22. May I add that people have been flying large aircraft at VERY low altitudes (albeit at slow-ish speeds) since WW2? Dambusters Raid immediately springs to mind. 100ft altitude for the trip from England to Germany at normal speeds, 60ft altitude @ ~240MPH for the attacks on the dams. Where there's a will, there's a way.
  23. I suppose this thread is as good a place to link this story : http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-13682082 Bilderberg mystery: Why do people believe in cabals? Hmmmm : "British Labour politician Denis Healey was a founding member" Damn! I knew there was good reason to hate Labour!! probably why they keep forcing the UK unilaterally into joining the EU fully. Edit : The comments are pretty good, too! 35. Francis power 4 Hours ago The conspiracy theory is the exclusive preserve of the uninformed and disengaged. When you get academics indulging in them it usually speaks of a personal bitterness at not being invited to join something. As for the rest of us, anybody who has ever had anything to do with the allegedly 'powerful' knows perfectly well that nobody is that organised. lol. "Bitterness"
  24. Because reptiles are a much simpler (read "easier") evolutionary "stage" than us? Given similar conditions on other planets as happened here (as far as we can know what happened here that far back), wouldn't it stand to reason similar (if not exact- I'll eschew the "carbon"-copies pun ) life-forms would develop? Star Trek aside, I can see both happening, really - similar life to what we know, and bizarre, exotic creatures from bizarre, exotic worlds with different (no or even far more, asteroid/comet impacts for example? no "Dinosaur killers") historical events. Certainly one for the exo-biologists and the like, anyway
  25. Yeah...about that. You know all those really bad sci-fi flicks where the aliens come to rape our planet for the resources? That's us. Against any other universal civilisation we find that's less developed than us... May the universe have mercy on any other intelligence once we start spreading ourselves throughout it.
