  1. Thanks Hugo, I will definitely pass that on to Gabriella and Debra....the time differential is something that we will have to think more about in future efforts but at least we do have the ability to return to all the sessions for a later listen. That was one of the problems with the live sessions, if you had to do something that took you away for a portion of a presentation there really was no option but to wait months for the DVD and try to pick it up that way. This is at least quicker..
  2. Updating for the virtual conference attendees. We did live stream footage from the Plaza on the Lancer and Conference Facebook pages. That stream will be posted on the Conference page which will be maintained after the conference concludes so it can be reviewed there. We did have some difficulty posting the extended Walking Tour so that will be added to the Conference Facebook page this evening and left in place for ongoing viewing - I'll make myself available to answer questions about the tour on that page. Day 3 of the conference resumed at one thirty this afternoon. If you have any difficulty seeing day three you might need to refresh your browser....I had to myself.
  3. For those attending the conference: We will be uploading a live feed of Dealey Plaza tomorrow between noon and 1 pm. Also, keep a lookout for a pre-recorded virtual walking tour to be posted on the conference Facebook group on Sunday morning - it should go up on the page around 11 AM Central and I'll be available on the conference page for questions during the tour. The regular conference session will begin at 1:30pm on Sunday and the speaker schedule is posted on the conference page - it includes Alan Dale's interview with John Newman, a panel discussion and other speakers including Robert Groden - the presentations will continue into Sunday evening.
  4. I think Gabriella is working on a revised Sunday schedule to update it and catch a couple of shifts like he move of the Newman segment and William Law. When she does it will include the pre-recorded walking tour.
  5. Ron, the schedule on the conference facebook page for today is correct, it started with Jim. However the web hosting developer got confused by the fact that he had two "Larry's" back to back and put in Larry Haapanan first (he was on the schedule). My presentation on the Bay of Pigs will follow and I will be online on the conference page for comments afterwards.
  6. Nagell's information would have forced any real investigation to look at Oswald in a much broader context and blown away the concept of him as a "lone nut". It would also have tied him directly to anti-Castro exiles masquerading as Castro agents) who were planning an action against JFK. Both those things would have blown the Warren Commission report out of he water.
  7. Ron, I don't know if you have begun reading Tipping Point but it extends David's presentation into all those areas....but first it really is necessary to dig into the names David introduced, their histories, their social network, their operational backgrounds with people like Rip Robertson etc. David was presenting that background, which was an extension of what we covered in the very detailed Wheaton lead research paper. Your question, "by who" will be answered in Tipping Point - of course that answer is just my/our analysis and position on the attack, the people directly involved, and the overall nature of the conspiracy but good, bad or indifferent it is very specific about those who were involved in various roles in the attack in Dallas.
  8. Due to technical problems Alan Dale with John Newman has been moved to the Sunday session so you really didn't miss it. And yes that's what David was saying ....grin.
  9. Thanks Steve, some of this I recall but its been ages since I revisited it. I would suggest you open a new thread to discuss it.....my rather simple minded view is that the detective would have been given access to TSBD personnel files and made his list from that source. The police certainly could not generate that themselves quickly unless they sat down with personnel files. A side question would be why would Oswald be the first person on such a list which would normally be alphabetical, by date of employment, etc. The answer to that would be that it would have to have been long enough after the assassination for Oswald to be known as the suspect and for the detective to intentionally put him at the top of the list. Still, after that the list should probably have been alphabetical (with a payroll register as the source) or by date of hire (a personnel roster), otherwise it assumes the TSBD kept a separate employment file on each employee...or perhaps just a folder full of time cards. Your info above is very interesting, I'd suggest starting with a chronology of events which would have produced the list and then exploring where the data came from - with a major question being if the list was compiled from TSBD records why would only Lee Oswald have the varying information, what the heck would be the point. Anyway it would be a fascination thread but I'm way too far away from those sorts of records to be of much help other than trying to think though the process and asking you questions...grin. I did however drop a note to Jeff about DRE.
  10. Steve, first on the employee list - I just don't see how that list of names would have come from anywhere other than the school book depository itself, given to DPD. Of course that would raise the question of out of all the employees why was that name wrong....did Oswald himself apply that way or use that name there? Assuming that an employee list would have to come from the TSBD itself, and that it would be Lee Harvey, that would imply it was changed in DPD custody...why? On the memoir, I suspect Lee made some notes for himself and that the whole thing was indeed written after his return. He did have a good memory and we do know he made wrote a good deal while in Russia. Don't have a hundred percent answer but its hard for me sending stuff like that out piecemeal - unless he somehow embedded it in letters?
  11. Very interesting question Steve, problem is that we don't have the DRE internal documents and of course not the CIA documents Jeff has been pursuing. What we do have are the various communiques from DRE to and from the other groups and their letters to Congress about Oswald. As far as I know those were all Lee Oswald but Morley would probably be the best person to answer that....I'll ask him about it. My guess however is "no" based on the fact that DRE was using the name that had become quite visible in New Orleans, in newspapers, radio etc - and that was always Lee Oswald or Lee Harvey Oswald as far as I recall. I don't remember any confusion at all in the public usage of his name. I can't fathom why "Harvey Lee Oswald" would be on the list of TSBD employees; I do think his employment application and pay records are on file somewhere - unless they say Harvey Lee then it surely does raise a major question about that list.
  12. One mystery solved Ron, the web developer actually running he conference was on Mountain time, hence the initial difference...but its up and running now.
  13. Great, I think we got an additional presentation in that we were unsure about at the last minute and that changed the overall timing....I hope everyone enjoys it; I will be monitoring the Conference Facebook page during the day but actually have to be away for a couple hours now for an appointment that could not be shifted..
  14. Ron, there is an updated schedule on the Conference Facebook page as of Friday nine fourteen central time...I think she was just updating the start times earlier. As you can imagine, with presentation lengths varying largely at the speakers discretion, the detailed scheduling has been more than a little challenging. Especially as some presentations came in at literally the last moment yesterday.
  15. No idea on the schedule Ron, Gabriella may be refreshing it - I looked at it earlier this morning and it was there. I'd suggest checking in a bit. As to the times, they are supposed to be Central time zone to match Dallas. Start is supposed to be at ten am Central. I don't have any real time involvement with the operations aspect so all I can do is refer questions to Gabriella and at this point I suspect her hands are more than full.
  16. Yes, Gabriella says the eticket is mailed separately and is totally separate from the invoice - at this point if you or anyone has problems with their tickets I would recommend emailing her directly: gab.glenn12@gmail.com
  17. Ron, I checked with Gabriella and yes the ticket number should work on multiple devices...
  18. I certainly would agree that the bulk of it was "directed", or manipulated in some fashion - other than items such as the late appearing letter to the Russian embassy, that may have been created out of whole cloth. As examples, I think his "manuscript" in regard to Russia was a beautiful job of covertly obtaining a full debrief in writing - and very possibly was intended to serve other propaganda purposes down the road, on a path that ended up not being taken. The letters at the end of August may have been rather similar, certainly there is a huge disconnect in the two. All of which leads to a full blown Oswald exposition that I'm leaving to others as I try to reverse engineer from what actually came down in Dallas on November 22. I'll leave the total Oswald story to better minds than mine.
  19. Thanks Gary, its been sort of challenging this year....first In Denial, now Tipping Point and then with the virtual conference emerging full blown over a very short time due to the pandemic. Gabriella deserves the praise for that; I just hope that we have enough attendees to justify all her hard work and make it an ongoing event. And for next year, its on to Ian's and John's books....shows you that its only over when we say its over!
  20. Part 2 is now available for reading: https://www.maryferrell.org/pages/Tipping_Point_Part2.html
  21. Part 2 of Tipping Point is now online for reading on the Mary Ferrell Foundation site: https://www.maryferrell.org/pages/Tipping_Point_Part2.html I've made a few introductory remarks about it on my blog for those who follow it.
  22. Nagell asserted that Oswald had been interested in Russia as early as his time in Japan - no surprise there. However he also asserted that Oswald had approached the Russian embassy in Tokyo and might have actually have gone inside and had some contact with Embassy personnel. If that were true and Oswald mentioned he was a serviceman its quite possible he would have been talking with KGB officers or embassy types trained to interact with "walk ins". I don't recall Nagell ever telling Dick that there was anything more to it than that - certainly not that Oswald had been recruited as an agent of some sort by the Russians.
  23. Actually a major part of the in person conferences was always the "hallway conversations", small groups with a speaker after their presentation or during the scheduled book signings. A lot was discussed beyond what you could handle in a question and answer session. And a lot of opinions expressed that would be more direct than surfaced during Q&A sessions in the big room. But the bar sessions - which involved mostly talking - would often hang in from about nine pm to midnight in several clusters of tables. And as you might expect they would be a lot more free wheeling and speculative, especially with authors who often tend to constrain themselves within their books and articles. The talks sometimes generated new research projects and people would team up to tackle particular questions that had come out of presentations or each others research. I can also think of more than one book that developed based on such after hours discussions. It is a hard thing to replicate virtually, although we have hopes the Facebook page may do some of that. We may also have some special follow on Zoom sessions of that nature. The idea of an ongoing virtual element to the conference is one of the things still under discussion. If there had been more time I had even given thought to recreating one of those late night discussions on Zoom, drinks and all. It would take some folks who are comfortable with each other and might have done it in person before, but I think it would be great fun - something for 2021.
  24. I told Gabriella you wanted one Ron...grin. Frankly though, its still being tweaked a bit, especially for Sunday. We don't have exact times for a couple of the speakers who are coming in with their presentations at the last minute so its still slightly a work in progress. Which reminds me of the in person conference when we had to post adjusted schedules on the doors at least once a day...and I had to run around the hotel trying to locate speakers, see if they had checked in, stress over someone going 15 min over their allotted time. Ah, the good old days...
  25. Thanks Allen, I'm taking no position myself and will listen and evaluate - I urge all the attendees to join in and engage with Steve on the conference Facebook page afterwards. And with all speakers for that matter. I do know that I was surprised on at least one occasion a few years ago to listen to a contrarian (LN) speaker, one whom I normally don't agree with about anything, making a cogent and very factual presentation on the motorcycle/DPD tape. Something I remain on the fence about myself to this day. On a side note, I would encourage all conference attendees to register for the Conference Facebook page. Gabriella is already putting up supplemental reading material for various speakers, and we will be adding more material. One she and I discussed today is an extended video presentation by Chuck Ochelli with remarks from a number of researchers. It is not part of the conference itself but is built around common issues debated about events in the Plaza and TSBD. It should spur some interesting dialog and I've tagged both Chuck Ochelli (who made it) and myself to respond on that one. As it turns out (I'm shocked, shocked I tell you) he and I don't even agree on all the points in that video - which of course always makes for interesting exchanges. Hopefully this is going to provide some real value add for the conference.
