by Joshua HollandWilliam Black: Sure. The savings and loan debacle was one-seventieth the size of the current crisis, both in terms of losses and the amount of fraud. In that crisis, the savings and loan regulators made over 30,000 criminal referrals, and this produced over 1,000 felony convictions in cases designated as "major" by the Department of Justice. But even that understates the degree of prioritization, because we, the regulators, worked very closely with the FBI and the Justice Department to create a list of the top 100 — the 100 worst fraud schemes. They involved roughly 300 savings and loans and 600 individuals, and virtually all of those people were prosecuted. We had a 90 percent conviction rate, which is the greatest success against elite white-collar crime (in terms of prosecution) in history.

In the current crisis, that same agency, the Office of Thrift Supervision, which was supposed to regulate, among others, Countrywide, Washington Mutual and IndyMac — which collectively made hundreds of thousands of fraudulent mortgage loans — made zero criminal referrals.

It is clear to most Americans that Wall Street’s financing of presidential and congressional campaigns is creating too many pals wearing blindfolds about epic corruption on Wall Street. The President, subject to Senate confirmation, selects the U.S. Treasury Secretary, the Chair of the Federal Reserve, the Chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission – all of whom regulate Wall Street, for better or worse. Given that Wall Street collapsed the U.S. financial system in 2008 and has been perpetually charged with new crimes ever since, there is the strong suggestion that regulation isn’t strong enough.

The President also selects the U.S. Attorney General at the Justice Department, the office that can bring criminal charges against Wall Street. But according to a January 2013 report by the PBS program, Frontline, in the years following the 2008 collapse there was no serious effort at the Justice Department to indict the miscreants. The exchange went as follows between Frontline producer and investigator, Martin Smith, and Lanny Breuer, then head of the Criminal Division at the Justice Department:

MARTIN SMITH: "We spoke to a couple of sources from within the Criminal Division, and they reported that when it came to Wall Street, there were no investigations going on. There were no subpoenas, no document reviews, no wiretaps."

LANNY BREUER: "Well, I don’t know who you spoke with because we have looked hard at the very types of matters that you’re talking about."

MARTIN SMITH: "These sources said that at the weekly indictment approval meetings that there was no case ever mentioned that was even close to indicting Wall Street for financial crimes."

Now, concerns are growing that the corrupting tentacles of Wall Street may reach into the FBI. The two cases raising alarms are the recent arrest of Navinder Singh Sarao in the U.K. on charges that he was a key contributor to the Flash Crash in the U.S. stock market on May 6, 2010 – a case brought five years after the fact and an earlier government report that placed the blame on a mutual fund company; and the manner in which the FBI appears to have done the bidding of Goldman Sachs in the relentless prosecution of Sergey Aleynikov, a former computer programmer at Goldman, who was alleged to have violated Federal law by downloading a small amount of computer code before he left for another job.

In the Sarao case, the 36-year old is sitting in jail in the U.K., unable to make bail because the U.S. has frozen all of his assets worldwide while the sum of $7.6 million has been set for his bail. As we previously reported, the decidedly questionable case against Sarao for manipulating the market is based solely on an FBI affidavit signed by one agent, which relies heavily on testimony from an unnamed "consulting group" and an unnamed "academic researcher."

FBI informant system called a failure
House report finds no prrof against Bulger

Ending a two-year investigation into the 40-year history of the FBI's organized-crime informant program in New England, a congressional committee has branded the program as "one of the greatest failures in the history of federal law enforcement" and has vowed to turn its attention to nationwide FBI management practices.

The report by the House Committee on Government Reform charges that, as a result of the ultrasecret informant program, FBI agents became corrupt, encouraged perjury in death penalty cases, let innocent men languish and die in prison, and allowed people to be murdered, all in the name of protecting informants.

The report states that continued vigilance over the FBI's use of informants is essential in an era "when the United States is faced by threats from international terrorism, and a number of law enforcement tools are being justifiably strengthened."

"The results of the committee's investigation make clear that the FBI must improve management of its informant programs to ensure that agents are not corrupted," the report states. "The Committee will examine the current FBI's management, security and discipline to prevent similar events in the future."

The report also states that the committee failed to substantiate allegations that one of the probe's key witnesses, former Senate president William M. Bulger, received any favors from the FBI or used his power to punish those who investigated his informant brother, South Boston underworld boss James "Whitey" Bulger.

It does, however, allege that some of William Bulger's testimony before the committee was inconsistent with the testimony of other witnesses.

Titled "Everything Secret Degenerates: The FBI's Use of Murderers as Informants," the report also faulted the US Department of Justice for not doing more to aid the congressional probe and obstructing its work.

"Throughout the Committee's investigation, it encountered an institutional reluctance to accept oversight," the report states. "The Committee has concluded that the Justice Department failed to take responsibilities to assist Congress as seriously as it should have."

The critical report is the latest fallout from the Boston FBI informant scandal, which has been unfolding for more than five years. Related events have included the imprisonment of a decorated former FBI agent for racketeering, the release of innocent men who were wrongly imprisoned for more than 30 years, and protected FBI informants and witnesses being exposed as serial murderers.

The scandal prompted Janet Reno, in one of her last acts as US attorney general, to adopt tough new informant guidelines in January 2001. Among other changes, the new rules gave Justice Department lawyers a role in monitoring the FBI's use of informants.

In response to the report, an FBI spokesman in Washington said yesterday that, under Director Robert Mueller, the agency has not only embraced the Reno reforms, but has gone beyond them to completely "reengineer" the agency's informant programs with improved training, record-keeping, and accountability.

"When Director Mueller was brought on board, his intent was to change the direction of the FBI and move it into the 21st century," spokesman Edwin Cogswell said. "While the FBI recognizes that there have been instances of misconduct by a few FBI employees, it also recognizes the importance of human-source information in terrorism, criminal, and counterintelligence investigations."

In making its case against the FBI's past practices with informants, the 141-page report went back more than 40 years, focusing on the efforts of agents to recruit and protect informants and witnesses with violent and murderous pasts, such as underworld hit man Joseph "The Animal" Barboza.

To illustrate, the report recounted a tape-recorded conversation between Barboza and New England mob boss Raymond L. S. Patriarca in which Barboza said he planned to kill a rival by burning down his apartment building, even though the man's mother was likely to be inside.

The FBI later used Barboza as a witness to frame four men for the 1965 murder of small-time criminal Edward "Teddy" Deegan. Two of those men died in prison, while the other two, Joseph Salvati and Peter Limone, have been released in recent years after spending more than 30 years in prison. Part of the reason they were framed, the report concluded, was to protect other FBI informants.

"The use of murderers as government informants created problems that were, and continue to be, extremely harmful to the administration of justice," the report states.

While also extremely critical of the Boston FBI's use of two other informants who have been charged with numerous murders, Stephen Flemmi and James "Whitey" Bulger, the committee was less harsh with Bulger's brother William, who has long been rumored to have had a closer relationship with his criminal sibling.

The committee appeared to take at face value William Bulger's representations under oath that he did not use his power to punish law enforcement authorities who pursued his brother, or to aid FBI agent John Connolly, his brother's chief handler with the bureau.

"This is an exoneration," William Bulger's attorney, Thomas Kiley, said yesterday. "This report gives the lie to all of the street legends that people have passed along forever."

Kiley called it unfortunate that the committee spent so much time pursuing his client that it may have distracted them from their legitimate inquiry into FBI wrongdoing.

"All we are is a sideshow to a very critical report on the way that the FBI conducted its business over the years," Kiley said.

The committee report does say that it was "concerned about the factual accuracy" in two areas of William Bulger's testimony, including his assertion that he was not contacted by the FBI about his fugitive brother's whereabouts until years after he disappeared in 1995. That testimony was contradicted by the statements of retired FBI agent John Gamel, who told the Globe that he had spoken with William Bulger shortly after Whitey Bulger's indictment in January 1995 on racketeering charges.

Overall, the report called the informant scandal the inevitable result of the government's use of an "ends justifies the means" approach to law enforcement. ***

"No one disputes the proposition that destroying organized crime in the United States was an important law enforcement objective," the report states, referring to the use of Irish gangsters to inform on their rivals in the Italian Mafia. "However, the steps that were taken may have been more injurious than the results obtained."

FBI halts terror plot dreamed up by the FBI, then claims victory against terrorism

The FBI and, indeed, the whole of the U.S. intelligence community, is under fire once more for fabricating "terrorist" attacks and then "thwarting" them before they take place, as a means of further empowering the surveillance state and power of the federal government.

According to NBC News, FBI agents have arrested an Ohio man who allegedly was attempting to set up an ISIS cell in the United States and planning an attack against the U.S. Capitol Building. However, U.S. officials also told NBC News that there was never any danger because the government set up the whole thing.

NBC News provided additional details:

Christopher Lee Cornell, 20, of Green Township, near Cincinnati, was arrested after he bought two M-15 semi-automatic rifles and about 600 rounds of ammunition as the undercover operative watched, according to an FBI affidavit.

Government officials said Cornell never purchased any pipe bomb components. "There was never a danger to the public," one official said.

Cornell faces a preliminary court hearing Jan. 22 in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati. He will face charges of attempting to kill a U.S. government officer and possession of a firearm in furtherance of an attempted crime of violence.

FBI officials say they got on to Cornell after being tipped by an informant in August that he was posting comments under the alias "Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah" on Twitter in support of ISIS. Shortly thereafter, the FBI sent an operative undercover to meet with him.

Set up by the FBI - never would have happened, otherwise

Court documents say that, during a meeting with the FBI's operative, Cornell said he wished "to go forward with violent jihad" and that was something encouraged by Anwar al-Awlaki, a U.S. born Muslic cleric who was killed by an American drone strike in September 2011, becoming the first U.S. citizen known publicly to have been added to the U.S. kill-or-capture list of terrorist suspects.

The FBI alleges that Cornell made it perfectly clear that he wanted to create an ISIS cell in the United States. The agency says Cornell told the undercover agent in a text message: "I believe we should meet up and make our own group in alliance with the Islamic State here and plan operations ourselves."

NBC News further noted:

Later, in a meeting in November, the FBI said, Cornell said he wanted to "build, plant, and detonate pipe bombs at and near the U.S. Capitol," then "shoot and kill employees and officials."

Critics say that the FBI is intentionally ginning up terrorist threats so that the agency, along with the intel community at large, as well as friendly lawmakers, can justify higher intelligence budgets and more draconian surveillance and arrest measures.

The FBI initially found a patsy by trolling Twitter for support of ISIS. That's exciting because finding someone retarded enough to admit support for them is really difficult. Then they sent an in-house jihadist to team up with the patsy to plan a grand terror attack on the nation's Capitol. Heroically, the moment the 20-year-old patsy said he would "go forward with violent jihad" the FBI steps in and declares a victory in the war on terror.

Across the country, federal investigations have targeted people with intellectual or mental disabilities, and many relied on secret evidence, according to "The Illusion of Justice," a 2014 report from Human Rights Watch and Columbia Law School. Media Will Not Have Access To Jade Helm 15 Military Exercise

U.S. military officials have now stated that journalists will not be allowed to embed with the military for the upcoming Jade Helm 15 exercise.

One week before the controversial Jade Helm 15 military exercise is scheduled to begin, U.S. military officials announced that journalists will not be allowed to embed with the military. Lt. Col. Mark Lastoria, a spokesman for Army Special Operations Command, told The Washington Post that embedded journalists will not be allowed but later in the summer the Army might allow “a small number of journalists to view selected portions of the exercise.”

Throughout July and September of this year, the US Army’s Special Operations Command will conduct Operation Jade Helm, a covert warfare training exercise set to take place on civilian territory amid 17 Texas cities.

The Houston Chronicle notes

that Green Berets, Navy SEALs, and Air Force and Marines special operators will be taking part in the program and will attempt to blend in with civilians to test their covert warfare capabilities.

purported to be part of Operation Jade Helm’s documentation, which lists Texas and Utah as hostile territory, along with a part of Southern California which appears to be listed as an “insurgent pocket.” Jones characterized the effort as an invasion of Texas and claimed that the program is an attempt to prepare for the implementation of martial law in places like Texas and Utah where large numbers of citizens associate with right-leaning groups like the Tea Party. Operation Jade Helm’s documents also refer to coordination between the military and law enforcement, raising concerns that some elements of the training exercise might run afoul of the

Posse Comitatus Act

, which bans the military from participating in law enforcement activities on US soil.

The exercise is scheduled to run from July 15 through September 15.

All requests from the media for interviews and coverage of U.S. Army Special Operations Command personnel, organizations and events are assessed for feasibility and granted when and where possible,”

Lt. Col. Lastoria told The Post on Wednesday.

“We are dedicated to communicating with the public, while balancing that against the application of operations security and other factors.

Lastoria also said it would not be possible to allow a journalist to travel with Special Operations forces in the field. Despite this, The Post reports that media has previously been granted access to Special Ops for reports and books, including the 2011 book “The Wrong War,” by Bing West, and the 2013 work “One Hundred Victories,” by Linda Robinson.

Lt. Col. Lastoria claims that Jade Helm will not be as large as initially described in training materials. The exercise will include around 200 Special Operations forces and 300 additional support personnel. The length of the exercise, number of personnel and labeling of areas as “hostile” has stoked the flames of Americans’ distrust in government.

In late April Texas Governor Greg Abbot sent a letter to Major General Gerald Betty of the Texas State Guard, ordering the Texas military to monitor the federal troops throughout the two month exercise.

“DURING THE TRAINING OPERATION, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT TEXANS KNOW THEIR SAFETY, CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHT AND CIVIL LIBERTIES WILL NOT BE INFRINGED. I AM DIRECTING THE TEXAS STATE GUARD TO MONITOR OPERATION JADE HELM 15.” – TEXAS GOVERNOR GREG ABBOTT

Despite Abbot’s actions many Texans still seem to doubt that Jade Helm is a standard training exercise. Speaking in Bastrop, Texas (one of the sites of Jade Helm exercises), Lt. Col. Lastoria attempted to quell the fears of the community. The Post reports that Lastoria stressed that the scenario was fictional.

Jade Helm is intended to simulate U.S. Special Forces helping resistance fighters restore democracy in an imaginary country. The operation’s logo, which features a Dutch wooden shoe, is meant to represent anti-Nazi resistance in World War II Europe.

Only 60 of the 1,200 troops are scheduled to be in Bastrop for the training, the majority said to be at Camp Swift, a large Army National Guard base in Bastrop, as well as private property.

In April the Houston Chronicle reported that two Texas counties, Victoria and Goliad, cancelled their portions of the exercise without explanation.

Whether or not Operation Jade Helm ends up being a hostile takeover or simply overblown fears, there does exist a precedent for the U.S. government targeting its own citizens. Documents like the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) report and other documents from the Department of Homeland Security have many Americans asking why everyday, constitutionally protected behavior and thought is becoming criminalized. Many 2nd Amendment supporters and libertarian activists see the federal government as a grave danger to personal liberties.

Prime Minister Tsipras’ Bailout Reform Package: An Act of Treason against the Greek People

After having launched a Referendum to refute and refuse the debt bailout agreement put together by the Troika, Prime Minister Tsipras together with his newly instated Finance Minister, comes up four days latter with an austerity package broadly similar to the one which was turned down by the Greek government in June.

This about-turn had been carefully engineered. The Greek people were misled and deceived. The Referendum was an outright ”ritual of democracy”.

Tsipras had made a deal with the creditors. He was in favor of accepting the demands of the creditors all along.

Tsipras led the “NO” campaign while having already decided that in the wake of the Referendum, he would say YES to the creditors and cave in to their demands. This is tantamount to an Act of Treason.

There was no attempt by the Tsipras government in the immediate wake of the Referendum to renegotiate or extend the deadline on behalf of the Greek people in response to the NO Vote. On Monday morning, the day following the Referendum, Yanis Varoufakis who had led the negotiations with the Troika resigned as Finance minister. Did he wilfully resign or was he “dismissed” to facilitate an agreement with the Troika?

Creditors are known to influence appointments to key ministerial positions.(e.g. South Korea, December 1997 at the height of the Asian Crisis, the Finance minister and the Head of the Central Bank are dismissed on the orders of Washington).

Varoufakis was hastily replaced by Euclid Tsakalotos, who took office on Monday morning. His appointment as Finance Minister and chief negotiator (which must have been known well in advance) was broadly welcomed by the EU political and financial establishment.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras together with his new finance minister then held meetings throughout Monday both with Syriza and the opposition. And by the end of the day, a “joint statement” was speedily signed “by almost the entire political spectrum backing his efforts to seek a new deal from the country’s creditors.”

Tsipras later told Parliament that his government had been forced to cave in to the demands of the creditors. He also said that the referendum did not authorise the government to envisage the Grexit, namely an exit from the eurozone.

What he failed to mention is that the NO Vote gave him a political mandate to renegotiate the deal on behalf of the Greek people with a view to at least alleviating the deadly impacts of the proposed austerity measures.

By Thursday, a document of 13-pages containing concrete reforms and austerity measures was sent to the Troika. The initiative was intended, according to media reports ”to act as a foundation to free up a new three-year, 53.5-billion euro bailout package to save the nation from bankruptcy”.

They involve massive tax hikes, a drastic reduction in public sector wages, cuts in pensions including an increase in the retirement age to 67, the privatization of state assets including public utilities and infrastructure: “The government will look at selling off state assets and will get the ball rolling on privatizing the electricity grid company, regional airports and ports including Pireaus and Thessaloniki.”

What is not explicitly mentioned in the 13 page document is the logic of “vulture investment”, leading to the eventual demise of “Greek capitalism” including its banking and commercial shipping industry.

(The essential elements of both the joint statement and the 13 page document were no doubt drafted prior to the Referendum).

Who are the Main Actors?

The Troika is acting on behalf of the creditor institutions. They do not call the shots. The ECB is integrated by individuals who are in close liaison with major banking interests including JP Morgan Chase, Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs.

Similarly, the Washington based IMF (which essentially is a debt collecting bureaucracy) is part of what is called the Washington consensus, with links to the US Treasury, Washington’s economic think tanks and of course Wall Street.

There were divisions within the Tsipras government’s negotiating team. What has to be emphasized is the fact that no concessions were granted by the creditors at any stage of the negotiations.

In February, former Finance Minister Varoufakis had intimated that Greece would meet its debt obligations but would not be able to abide by the drastic austerity measures required by the creditors, including massive lay offs of public sector employees, reform of pensions and social security, etc.

These reforms will not only exacerbate the economic and social crisis, the resulting economic stagnation will also contribute to increasing the sovereign debt. And that is what the creditors are seeking.

Unemployment according to official statistics is currently of the order 26%. Youth unemployment is at 50%. The real rate of unemployment is significantly larger than the figure published by the government.

Debt Conditionalities

What must be understood is that creditors are not necessarily strung on outright reimbursement of sovereign debt. Quite the opposite. Their objective is to make the debt go up through so-called debt rescheduling, which essentially allows them to lend more money to the debtor. This new money then facilitates the process of debt servicing. “We will lend you the money and with the money we lend you, you will pay us back.” New loans to pay back old debts.

This procedure has been routinely applied as part of the IMF-World Bank structural adjustment program (SAP) for more than thirty years. The debt burden goes up. The country is increasingly in a straightjacket. The creditors call the shots on macro-economic reform.

In this regard Tsipras’ new request is for the granting of a package of 53.5 billion euros, most of which will be used to service its debt. Most of the money will not enter the country. This money will be granted by Greece’s creditors in exchange for a dramatic reform package.

Debt and the Real Economy

What has to be addressed is the relationship between debt collection in monetary terms and the real economy.

The creditors will use Greece’s multibillion debt obligations as means to impose deadly macro-economic reforms which will serve to destabilize the national economy and further impoverish the population. These are referred to by the IMF as “policy conditionalities’, which enable the creditors to essentially dictate economic and social policy.

The creditors are largely interested in acquiring real wealth within the national economy, namely the acquisition of Greece’s national banking institutions, its public enterprises, its agricultural land, etc.

The Tsipras 13 page document spells disaster: a further process of impoverishment, the take over of the country’s public assets and infrastructure, bankruptcy of farmers and small businesses, the influx of foreign investors who will buy up the country’s wealth at rockbottom prices.

The substance of the Tsipras proposal was endorsed on Friday July 10 by the Greek parliament in a vote of 251 in favor, 32 against and 8 abstentions. There was a significant movement against the proposal from with Syriza.

The 13 page document outlining government reform and austerity proposals is slated to be used in negotiations with Greece’s creditors over the weekend.

What is at stake in the proposed reform package is an engineered process of impoverishment, the demise of social programs and a de facto bankruptcy program intended to spearhead national and regional level enterprises into bankruptcy.

Greece’s acceptance of the creditors demands is tantamount to foregoing its sovereignty as a nation state.

The economic and social consequences are likely to be devastating.

A New Mexico law that has just gone into effect bars police from seizing people's property without first convicting them of a crime, and the cops are already complaining. Equally bad, the cops say, is that when seizures are allowed, the money will now go to the state's general fund instead of to the law enforcement agency that seized it.

As the Farmington Daily Times reported, law enforcement is already yearning for the good old days. Without that incentive, they may just seize less stuff, and they might even reduce drug law enforcement, they said.

"We're going to try not to seize," said Farmington Police Chief Steve Hebbe, warning that "I don't think that they anticipated how much it's going to hit local law enforcement, and we're still trying to figure out how bad it's going to hit us."

On October 26 the name Lee H. Oswald first appears in the Marine Corps Unit

Diaries at boot camp ^{#257 56-27}

NOTE: The Marine Corps Unit Diaries list the name, rank, service number, and mili-

tary occupation specialty (MOS) of servicemen assigned to a particular location. The

Diaries also record changes in assignments, activities and duties. The Diaries allow us

to see, by name, rank, and serial number, the names of Marines who served with Harvey

Oswald at a particular location, and the names of Marines who served with Lee Oswald

The Marine Corps Unit Rosters, which are similar to the Diaries, list the name, rank,

service number, and military occupation specialty ( MOS) of officers and enlisted person-

nel at a particular location.

Unit Diary #257-56 p. 1521 also lists the names of the three Dallas recruits who

traveled to San Diego with Oswald-Donald G. Davis, Donald M. Elam, and Pleas G.

Scott. A recruit named "Alexander D. Felde," with whom Harvey Oswald would spend

the next 10 months, is also listed in the same diary. ^56-28

The Marine Corps assigned service numbers in numerical order to recruits who

enlisted at the same enlistment center. Recruits from the same town, who enlisted

within days of each other, had similar service numbers. Alexander D. Felde's service

number was 1641924, and is between Marine recruits with service numbers 1641923 and

1641927 (Leo C. King, Richard Rasmussen, Peter J. Scifo, and Joseph D. Socha). All of

these recruits, including Felde, were from the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area and all en-

listed between October 22nd and October 24th, 1956.

Following the assassination the FBI interviewed Allen Robert Felde (on June

26, 1964) and reported, "He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at Milwaukee,

147Wisconsin in October, 1956. He met Lee Harvey Oswald as a United States Marine

Corps recruit about October 23, 1956 while both of them were assigned to Platoon 2060,

2nd Battalion, MCRD, San Diego."^{26 56-28} Allen Felde and Harvey Oswald's photographs

appear in the Platoon 2060 yearbook, along with the young men who enlisted in Dal-

las with Oswald and accompanied him on the flight to San Diego, (Scott, Elam, and

Davis).

Felde told the FBI he and Oswald were together through boot camp, ITR train-

ing, A & P School in Jacksonville, and Aviation Electronics School in Memphis, TN.

Marine Corps Unit Diaries confirm that Oswald and Felde were together at all of these

locations except one (the one exception is Memphis-there are no Marine Corps Unit

Diaries available for Memphis), but the diaries list Felde's name as "Alexander D.

Felde" (instead of Allen R. Felde). It is almost certain that Alexander D. Felde· and

Allen R. Felde are the same person, yet the first names and middle initials are differ-

ent. After the assassination Felde was the only Marine interviewed by the FBI who had known

Oswald in both boot camp and ITR training, and his statements about Oswald are significant.

Neither the FBI nor Warren Commission interviewed Davis, Scott or Elam,

but the FBI interviewed another recruit pictured in the Platoon 2060 book, Allen R.

Felde. Felde told the FBI that he and Oswald were stationed together in boot camp at

San Diego until January 1957, and then transferred to Camp Pendleton for combat

training. Marine Corps Unit Diary 8-57, pg. 29 for January 18, 1957 and the unit roster

confirm Felde's statement.³

Following boot camp eight Marines from Platoon 2060, including Oswald, were

transferred to Camp Pendleton, California for infantry training (ITR). Those eight

Marines were Lee Harvey Oswald, Hubert C. Cooley, Gerald R. Crowley,* Alexander

D. (Allen R.) Felde, Keith W. Marr, Carl G. Salway, Peter J. Scifo, Jr., and Robert W.

Smith. Marine Corps Unit Diary #16-57, pg. 925 listed their transfer as "tempduins"

(temporary duty under instruction),4 and they were assigned to the 2nd Infantry Train-

ing Regiment (ITR).

NOTE: Gerald R. Crowley should not be confused with Ronald Crawley, who knew

Oswald in Japan

The 8-man squad shared the same tent at Camp Pendleton and spent a lot of

time together. Felde said that Oswald continually discussed politics, in which none of

the young Marines had any interest, and he soon discovered that Oswald was "left-

winged."

On their first weekend leave the entire 8-man squad shared a taxicab to Tijuana,

Mexico. Oswald left the group and was not seen again until the squad returned to

Camp Pendleton on Sunday evening. Felde said that on at least four other occasions,

when members of his squad took leave and rode a bus to Los Angeles, Oswald de-

parted and was not seen again until they returned to Camp Pendleton.5 Felde was the

only Marine interviewed by the FBI who went through boot camp and infantry train-

ing (ITR) with Lee Harvey Oswald, yet he was not interviewed by the Warren Commission.

The Diaries, however, do not cover three very important locations in 1957,

which conflict with the memories of Marines who were with Harvey Oswald:

In March, April, and May 1957 Allen Felde was with Harvey Oswald at Camp

Pendleton in California (The Marine Corps Unit Diaries for Camp Pendleton end

on February 26, 1957). ^57-08/09

In May, June, and July 1957 Allen Felde and Harvey Oswald were stationed in

Jacksonville, FL (The Marine Corps Unit Diaries for Jacksonville end on May 3,

1957).^57-08/09

From late July thru early September 1957 Allen Felde and Harvey Oswald were

attending aviation electronics school in Memphis, TN. (There are no Marine Corps

Unit Diaries for Memphis). ^57-08/09

March/ April- Harvey and Felde at Camp Pendleton, CA

Shortly after the assassination FBI Special Agent (SA) Robert Schoenecker

interviewed Allen Felde in Milwaukee, WI and reported:

"Both men (Felde and Lee Harvey Oswald) were stationed at San Diego (Boot

Camp) until January, 1957, at which time Felde stated that they were trans-

ferred to Camp Pendleton (ITR training) for combat training. This combat

training lasted until May 1957." ..... until May 1957 ^{32 57-08}

SA Schoenecker reported, "Oswald impressed Felde as being 'left-winged.'

Oswald continually discussed politics and wrote to US senators, particularly Senator

Thurmond. Oswald condemned people of wealth and championed the cause of the

working man."^{33 57-08109} Schoenecker's report was given to the Warren Commission and

published as CE 1962 in Volume 23, pp. 797-798), yet the Commission ignored Felde's

statement and offered no explanation as to how Oswald could have been in Florida and Califor-

nia at the same time.

Further confirmation that Harvey Oswald was in California until May 1957

came from Oswald himself. After his arrest on November 22, 1963 the Dallas Police

found a 7 -page handwritten account of his background among his possessions. Oswald

w:rote that he had served in San Diego, Calif. from October 1956 to April 1957 and at

Camp Pendleton (California) in April and May 1957.³⁴

Finally, Allen Felde's arrival at Jacksonville in May was confirmed by the Ma-

rine Corps records, the Marine Corps Unit Diaries, and the Marine Corps Unit Rosters.

^57-16 These records help to establish the whereabouts of Harvey Oswald (thru his Ma-

rine Corps assignments with Felde) and Lee Oswald from late 1956 thru September

1957.

The FBI, following a now familiar pattern of ignoring troublesome witnesses,

ignored Allen Felde's statement and failed to question a single Marine about Harvey

Oswald's presence in Camp Pendleton thru April 1957. The Warren Commission, for

their part, ignored the evidence before them that placed Lee Harvey Oswald in Camp

Pendleton during April and May. They simply reviewed "Lee Harvey Oswald's" Ma-

rine Corps records and concluded that he was in Jacksonville, Florida in March and

April. 1957, and avoided the conflict. ³⁵

May- Harvey Oswald and Allen Felde arrive in Jacksonville

(May 2, 1957)

Marine Corps Unit Diaries for Jacksonville, Florida prior to May 2, 1957 do not

contain the name of Allen Felde. Felde's name first appears in the Marine Corps Unit

Roster for Jacksonville on May 3, 1957. He told SA Robert Schoenecker that he was

attending the Aviation Fundamentals School during this time.^{36 57-16} Felde was pro-

moted to Private First Class (PFC) and the following day his assignment at Jackson-

ville was extended for 7 weeks, until July 22, 1957.37 These entries agree with the

statement Felde gave to FBI agent Robert Schoenecker who reported, "During May

1957, Oswald and Felde were transferred to the A&P School at Jacksonville,

Florida ...... " ³⁸

NOTE: Marine Corps Unit Diary 104-57, pp. 719 and 724 shows that Allen Felde

arrived in Jacksonville on May 2, 1957, while Marine Corps Unit Diary 105-57, p.

722 shows that Camarata, Bandoni, Brereton, Schrand, Powers, and Lee Oswald

departed for Biloxi on May 2. 1957.³⁹ In other words, Harvey Oswald and Allen Felde

arrived at Jacksonville as Lee Oswald and his group were leaving Jacksonville.

Unfortunately, FBI agent Schoenecker reported nothing about Felde or

Oswald's activities in Jacksonville during the months of May, June, or July 1957 (The

Marine Corps Unit Diaries for Jacksonville end on May 3, 1957). If Marine Corps Unit

Diaries or Rosters existed for Jacksonville in May, June, and July 1957, we would prob-

ably see entries for Allen Felde and Lee Harvey Oswald.

FBI agent Schoenecker reported, without realizing that Allen Felde's state-

ments referred to Harvey Oswald, "During May 1957, Oswald and Felde were trans-

ferred to the A&P School at Jacksonville, Florida and in approximately July 1957 they

(he and Oswald) were both sent to Aviation Electronics School in Memphis. Once again

Allen Felde's statement agrees with the Marine Corps Unit Diaries which confirm that

he and Oswald were in Jacksonville until July 1957, and not in Biloxi nor on leave.⁴³

By the end of July 1957 Allen Felde and Harvey Oswald had been together for

nine months-through boot camp, (October thru December 1956-San Diego) ITR train-

ing (January thru April1957-Camp Pendleton, California) and Jacksonville (May thru

July 1957). Felde's claim that he was with Oswald in California until May, and was with

Oswald in Jacksonville until July, conflicts with all known Warren Commission, FBI,

and Marine Corps records (except, of course, the Marine Corps Unit Diaries).

Allen Felde's 10-month association with Harvey Oswald, and their assignment

in Memphis, TN, was undoubtedly the reason Felde was never allowed to testify be-

fore the Warren Commission. This is probably the reason he disappeared and why

many capable researchers have failed to locate him. I tracked Felde to Arizona by using

a social security number issued to him in Wisconsin. In the late 1980's Felde changed

his social security number and continued living at the same address, but denied that he

was the "Allen Felde" who had served in the Marines with Lee Harvey Oswald.

  The equipment and infrastructure installed in the places shown in the movie were grossly excessive, involving complicated and potentially compromising installation and construction projects, and the removal of the equipment and modifications when the location is no longer needed or is compromised. The removal would also be very obvious and could compromise the meetings held in the location, even after the fact.
