  1. The Inhuman Failure of ‘Austerity’ (op-ed) May 5, 2015 The Framers of the U.S. Constitution said the Government should provide for the “general Welfare,” a mandate to help build a strong and prosperous nation. But the concept has been lost in a wave of anti-government, “neoliberal” propaganda making the Market king, as David William Pear explains. ===== By David William Pear Close your eyes and imagine an affluent society with subsonic trains crisscrossing the continent. One that produces unlimited clean energy. Provides basic healthcare for everyone. Values education for its own sake. Cultivates the arts and research to discover beauty and the unknown. An affluent society that responds with compassion to natural disaster. Conserves natural resources and protects the environment. And enjoys more leisure time. Cares about eliminating poverty and illiteracy. That ends racism and prejudice. Does the affluent society seem like a dream? Is it an impossible goal? The neoliberals think it is. They imagine a world of austerity and a new Gilded Age. ================ The neoliberals are prisoners of the Eighteenth Century. They have not advanced since the neo-feudal teachings of Adam Smith (1723-1790). Smith is the godfather of economics and wrote the “bible” of capitalism, An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. Smith was among the first to give much thought about economics. In Eighteenth Century Great Britain, half the population lived in poverty. They survived, if they did, with disease, famine, illiteracy, lack of sanitation and in slums. It was normal then. Things had always been that way. They thought the poor, starving and ignorant mass of people would always be among them. They thought their society was according to the law of nature. Smith was a charitable man. He fretted about poverty, and gave a great deal of thought about wages. With a large pool of the unemployed, the new industrial class only had to pay subsistence wages. Smith tried to tell the industrialists that people were like cattle. He said if one gave their cows more grass, then they would produce more milk. The industrialists said that if they gave their workers higher wages, then it would come out of profits, and the workers would just produce more children with mouths to feed, leading to greater starvation. The neoliberals still think this way. Every progressive social project the neoliberals call it socialism, as if that is an obscene word. The only government projects they like are those that benefit the private sector, corporations and the wealthy. Almost every modern democracy has done better than the U.S. at providing good government for its people. All the evidence proves it. The U.S. consistently ranks far below more progressive countries on the United Nations Human Development Index that measures health, education and equality of income. On the Social Progress Index, which measures “Basic Human Needs, Foundations of Wellness, and Opportunity” (see interactive map); the U.S. is ranked sixteenth, and well behind other developed democratic nations. Those countries doing better have not degenerated into totalitarianism, as the neoliberals predict. The neoliberals see Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin behind every government social program. In the 1940s the neoliberal’s idol, Friedrich von Hayek (1899-1992) wrote a thesis called The Road to Serfdom. It is a simple book in its Eighteenth Century theories about government and freedom. There is a comic book version, courtesy of General Motors. Hayek won the Nobel Prize for it. John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946) and Hayek were colleagues at the London School of Economics. They had a long-running debate for years over the role of government. Keynes realized that government was important, that it has an active role in the economy. He said the government could do “good” and manage the economy well. Hayek said it was the road to serfdom. Keynes was an economic advisor for the British government during World War I. He also advised the British during the Treaty of Versailles to negotiate Germany’s surrender. Keynes resigned from his position at Versailles in disgust, saying the harsh austerity the Allies were demanding of Germany and Austria would cause massive poverty and starvation. He said it was inhumane and would result in the rise of fascism and war. He proved to be right. He was not awarded the Nobel Prize. In the Twenty-first Century, the European Union is imposing harsh austerity on its weaker members. The neoliberals are dismantling Europe’s progressive social programs. We are seeing the rise of fascism again too. So which is more likely to cause fascism and war: Austerity for the people, or progressive government social programs? Hayek said he did not mind a dictatorship, as long as it is neoliberal. The neoliberals like right-wing dictators. During the Great Depression (1929-1939), President Franklin Delano Roosevelt turned to Keynes for advice about the Great Depression. Keynes wrote a letter to Roosevelt advising him on the need for government social programs to stimulate the economy. Keynes further warned FDR that lowering interest rates and increasing the money supply alone would only bailout speculators, but would not sustain economic recovery. By contrast, President Barack Obama took the neoliberal advice in the Great Recession and bailed out the speculators. Keynes would have predicted that the result would be anemic economic recovery. He would have been right. Keynes gave worthy advice that would do the American people well in the Twenty-first Century. The neoliberals keep sabotaging good advice from past sages. Their sabotage is well-funded by corporations, foundations, foreign governments and the wealthy. John Kenneth Galbraith (1908-2006) was a genius with Twenty-first Century ideas. Galbraith served as an economic advisor to both FDR and John F. Kennedy. His most famous book is The Affluent Society (1958), a popular book during the 1960s. During the Stagflation of the 1970s, the neoliberals allied with the religious-right and racists to purge Keynes’s and Galbraith’s teachings. In the 1980s, the Reagan-Thatcher revolution established neoliberals, corporate hegemony and right-wing extremists in the halls of power. The first experiment of the neoliberals was in Chile during the 1970s. It led to the rise of Pinochet, fascism and crimes against humanity. Hayek said in a 1978 letter to the Times of London that he personally approved of Pinochet, preferring a dictator to a democratic government without neoliberalism. Hayek made one excuse after another for Pinochet. He was not even faithful to his own principles, and said Pinochet’s firing squads would transition to democracy. Those on the wrong end of Pinochet’s firing squads would not live to see that miracle. The neoliberals never take responsibility, admit they are wrong, or say they are sorry. (See example, here.) Galbraith’s discarded ideas had some excellent questions and answers to ponder in the Twenty-first Century. What is our obsession with economic growth and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), when an affluent society already produces all the private goods and services needed, Galbraith asked? And, shouldn’t we be more concerned about what is produced instead of how much? He said there is a “problem with social balance … private affluence and public squalor … as well as related environmental, aesthetic, and cultural concerns.” He was a man for the Twenty-first Century. Neoliberals are not against fascist and corporate planning of the economy. Fascists use the firing squad as their economic planning tool. Corporations use monopoly power, public relations departments and political graft. Corporations are hierarchical organizations that meet in secret to decide what to produce and the price people will pay. They spend billions of dollars on advertising to change consumer preferences and move their products off the shelves. Their propaganda has created a privatized culture of consumerism, materialism and gluttony. The corporations are dictating government programs too. Their oligarchies have taken over governments globally at all levels. They plan the government and the economy for their own profit and greed. Corporate oligarchies and neoliberals attack every social program for the public. They impose austerity on the public sector and the people. The impoverished public sector is in dire need of investment. Education could use a tsunami of new investment. The lack of investment for education, especially in poor neighborhoods, is glaring. The neoliberals blame “bad teachers.” They want to privatize public schools and hire proctors that will work for the minimum wage, so their hedge funds can make billions of dollars in profits that should be going to education. Higher education is failing too. Students are condemned to indentured servitude to payoff student loans. Young people have been indoctrinated that the value of education is to learn how to work for corporations and the military. College graduates discover that there are no jobs for their qualifications. Neoliberals stuck in the Eighteenth Century say the answer is that not everybody needs an education to be a widget or carry a gun. They want other people’s students to enroll in online schools pushed by their hedge funds, while their kids go to Harvard, Yale and MIT. An affluent society needs educated people. There is a cadre of potential teachers, healthcare workers, nutritionists, scientists, sociologists, historians, artists, engineers and administrators now working at meaningless minimum wage jobs. There is an abundance of opportunity for college graduates in an affluent society. New community centers could staff professionals to enrich the lives of seniors, teens and children. With people living longer, retired seniors could improve their lives and social activity by taking courses and enjoying the arts. Teens could have tutoring, learn to play chess, take music lessons, cooking classes, creative writing, languages, and have supervised sports. The possibilities for public investments and to improve the quality of life, and provide meaningful jobs are endless. Neoliberals want everybody to sit alone at home and watch TV. Malnourished and neglected children are unacceptable in an affluent society. The problem is not a lack of resources. It is because of unequal distribution. There is a shameful lack of prenatal care. As a result, infant mortality in the U.S. is higher than every developed nation. It is 30 percent higher than even Cuba, which the neoliberals constantly chastise about its human rights. New parents could get healthcare, infant care and education in an affluent society. Instead, Eighteenth Century neoliberals want to kill Obamacare, Medicare and Medicaid; and they want to privatize the Veterans Administration. Their greed is insatiable. Obama promised single-payer healthcare. The public got excited and wanted it. The Eighteenth Century neoliberals killed it in the womb. Long-term health care and homecare goes uncovered by any public insurance. Neoliberals let the old and disabled go without and die, as if those people are just useless eaters. Instead an affluent society would treat the old and disabled humanely; and single-payer healthcare would create more careers and professional jobs. Twice a day every workday the highways are in gridlock with automobiles idling, burning fossil fuel and polluting the air. Clean, fast and comfortable light-rail and motor coaches would be quicker, more comfortable and use less energy. Building and operating a Twenty-first Century mass transportation industry would make commuting time productive and leisurely; and create more skilled jobs. An affluent society should not neglect the unemployed. The public sector has the responsibility of full-employment and providing for those unemployed. Employees did not volunteer to be the risk-takers of capitalism. They should not be condemned to their fate because they were unlucky and chose the wrong industry or employer years ago. Society must also face the reality that some people are permanently unable to work because of social, emotional and health reasons. The unemployed need treatment, counseling, education and care; which would also create more jobs. These are just a few ideas, some from Galbraith’s The Affluent Society. As Galbraith said in 1958, the private sector is a king; the public sector is a pauper. They can both be royalty. The neoliberals and their alter-ego, the neocons, do not have any good ideas for the Twenty-first Century. They have caused financial disasters and endless wars, and they tell us not to expect better. Part of the public sector that is not a pauper but should be is the military. The military-industrial complex is wasting vast resources making machines of death. Society is spending trillions of dollars to send armies to invade other countries. We spend trillions of dollars in order to protect us from imaginary enemies and those that our wars have created. It does not make us any safer. The jobs that it creates do not add any value. The Eighteen Century neoliberals and the neoconservatives say that government economic planning will destroy our freedom, while they plan the economy for war and financial speculation. The neocons say the American people must give up the Bill of Rights in exchange for safety. The neoliberals say that austerity will bring prosperity. Instead we are less free and more poor. They are leading us down the road to fascism and serfdom. Let’s open our eyes and stop listening to the neoliberals. ======================================================================================= After 40 years, David William Pear retired from investment management and started writing on economic, political and social subjects. 2. Why does America Continue to Subsidize Housing for the Wealthy? =By A Mechele Dickerson / The Guardian March 12th, 2015 ==============================================http://www.constantinereport.com/america-continue-subsidize-housing-wealthy/ ==============================================There’s a huge need for affordable housing in the US, but the government keeps pushing flawed home ownership schemes Many people in the US have given up on the American dream of owning a house: US homeownership rates have now dropped to the lowest point in almost 20 years. But the government shouldn’t be focusing on trying to raise that rate – for now, their priorities should lie with increasing affordable housing. ============================================ The 90,000 Square Foot, 100 Million Dollar Home That Is A Metaphor For America http://rinf.com/alt-news/editorials/the-90000-square-foot-100-million-dollar-home-that-is-a-metaphor-for-america/
  3. UN Human Rights Chief Compares UK Tabloids to Nazi Propaganda ========================================================= By RT / April 24th, 2015 UK tabloids like the Murdoch-owned Sun that compared immigrants to ‘cockroaches’ recall the dark days of the Nazi media attacking those they sought to eliminate, according to the UN’s human rights chief. “The Nazi media described people their masters wanted to eliminate as rats and cockroaches,” the UN high commissioner for human rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein said. He singled out an article by former game show contestant turned-commentator Katie Hopkins, published by the Sun newspaper last Thursday, in which she wrote: “Make no mistake, these migrants are like cockroaches. They might look a bit ‘Bob Geldof’s Ethiopia circa 1984’, but they are built to survive a nuclear bomb. They are survivors.” The comment piece was published just hours before a boat containing hundreds of displaced people capsized in the Mediterranean, killing 800. “This type of language is clearly inflammatory and unacceptable, especially in a national newspaper. The Sun’s editors took an editorial decision to publish this article, and – if it is found in breach of the law – should be held responsible along with the author,” Zeid said. Zeid said the Hopkins piece was by no means a one off, but rather the result of “decades of sustained and unrestrained anti-foreigner abuse, misinformation and distortion.” “This vicious verbal assault on migrants and asylum seekers in the UK tabloid press has continued unchallenged under the law for far too long,” he said. Like the Sun, Britain’s Daily Express was also a prime culprit, he said. sun“To give just one glimpse of the scale of the problem, back in 2003 the Daily Express ran 22 negative front pages stories about asylum seekers and refugees in a single 31-day period,” he said. “Asylum seekers and migrants have, day after day, for years on end, been linked to rape, murder, diseases such as HIV and TB, theft, and almost every conceivable crime and misdemeanor imaginable in front-page articles and two-page spreads, in cartoons, editorials, even on the sports pages of almost all the UK’s national tabloid newspapers.” Zeid said from a legal perspective free speech and hate speech were clearly delineated. “I am an unswerving advocate of freedom of expression, which is guaranteed under Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), but it is not absolute. “Article 20 of the same covenant says: ‘Any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence shall be prohibited by law.”

Thus it was not the real military that Kennedy would have offended if he had withdrawn from Vietnam in 1963. It was the chameleon Secret Team/CIA military who made him think they would have objected, and who made him think that they represented the military. Thus it was not the real military that Kennedy would have offended if he had withdrawn from Vietnam in 1963. It was the chameleon Secret Team/CIA military who made him think they would have objected, and who made him think that they represented the military. As important to the Secret Team as SACSA was, of equal importance was the return to the government and especially to the Pentagon of Maxwell Taylor. After the Bay of Pigs, it was inevitable that Allen Dulles would leave the CIA. His chief lieutenant, Dick Bissell of U-2 fame and of Laos and Bay of Pigs infamy, left the Agency to become the head of the Institute of Defense Analysis, an organization with many interesting functions – among them, acting as a conduit for CIA activities. Dulles again showed that uncanny ability of his and of the Agency’s to rise above each fiasco on to new heights. During the Bay of Pigs inquiry he ingratiated Maxwell Taylor to the Kennedys so firmly that Jack Kennedy assigned General Taylor to the position of Military Adviser to the President. This was a good cover assignment for General Taylor. However, everyone else in the need-to-know clan knew that Maxwell Taylor was in the White House to be the President’s liaison man with the CIA. The President may not have known how closely Maxwell Taylor’s aspirations and those of Allen Dulles matched each other. During the last days of the Dulles era, Maxwell Taylor served as the focal point man between Dulles and his Agency and the White House. .............. Kennedy had the misfortune, which he was overcoming rapidly, of being young and inexperienced in the inner ways of government, such as those employed by the Secret Team. He could not have realized that Maxwell Taylor, for example, by the time he had returned to the Pentagon as chairman of the JCS, was actually more of a Judas goat, as far as the military was concerned, than the leader of the herd, as he had been when he left three years before. Few great armies have been so vastly demoralized and stricken by an integral campaign as has the U.S. Army since those dark days of 1964 and 1965, when Maxwell Taylor and his Secret Team counterparts led them into Vietnam under the banner of counterinsurgency. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Book Review: “The Essential Mae Brussell: Investigations of Fascism in America” By Mike Kuhlenbeck / April 10th, 2015 ======= Mae Brussell has been called “the intellectual forbear of the study of parapolitics” by conspiracy writer Kenn Thomas and “the Queen of Conspiracy” by others. This book of articles, interviews and radio transcripts from Brussell’s prolific career, however, shows a complex, compassionate woman whose work challenges and compels. Mae Brussell was born May 29, 1922, in Beverly Hills, her father Rabbi Edgar Magnin of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple, the man who blessed President Richard Nixon at the White House. Magnin’s close connections to Hollywood earned him a nickname: Rabbi of the Stars. Brussell grew up in an affluent, mostly conservative family. She married and had five children. In a 1974 interview with Playgirl, she described years of studying the world through a traditional lens: I went to Stanford University and got married a few weeks before graduation. I majored in philosophy. We studied Plate, Nietzsche, Emerson, and Thoreau – yet the professors didn’t seem to understand anything about real life. Those were the war years, 1940 to 1943. Hitler was raising a holocaust all over Europe – but we were upper middle-class children, so we studied medieval history … It was as if the world outside didn’t exist. = The age of innocence for Brussell ended with rifle shots in Dallas and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. In the wake of that event, Brussell purchased all 26 volumes of the Warren Commission Reportand painstakingly cross-referenced every detail in the report, a task that took eight tedious years and resulted in 27,000 pages of textual analysis. She found an abundance of contradictions, omissions and distortions, casting doubt on the validity of the official investigation into Kennedy’s death. She used this work, she says, as her “Rosetta Stone.” “It unlocked every other conspiracy,” Brussell told the San Francisco Chronicle in 1981. Brussell channeled her revelations on the radio broadcast Dialogue: Conspiracy 7655940(later called World Watchers International) on KLRB, an FM station in Carmel, California. In 1983, she moved her hour-long program to KAZU-FM in nearby Pacific Grove. She produced 851 broadcasts for a devoted legion of listeners, engaging supporters and detractors for 17 years until she died of cancer in 1988 at age 66. She holds the distinction of teaching the first accredited college course in conspiracy, “American Assassinations,” this at Monterey Peninsula College. = Before the Internet, Brussell collected her trove of research using old-school techniques. She lined the walls of her home with dozens of bookshelves and 39 four-drawer filing cabinets filled with newspaper clippings, magazines, underground zines, unpublished manuscripts, declassified government documents and other materials. She used these to cross-reference items and talking points she found in mainstream press. “There are ways to counteract the evil being purposely planned,” Brussell said. “Study history. Separate fears and prejudices from facts. Recognize facts from propaganda. Invest energy in fighting for what you believe in. Analyze harder where we are going and what you are doing about it. What do you really believe in? How much do we care?” She found a supporter in journalist Paul Krassner, founder of the now-defunct counterculture magazine The Realist, who also wrote the introduction to this collection. He affectionately referred to Brussell as the “Bionic Researcher.” He published her first full-length article in 1972, a piece on the Watergate break-in. (John Lennon financed it, providing $5,000 for printing costs.) Brussell also published articles in Hustler, People’s Almanac, The Rebel and the Berkeley Barb, and assisted with research for Ramparts. “I thought she was an American hero,” Krassner told the San Jose Mercury News. “We should look upon her as a role model for not accepting things that are spoon-fed to us, not accepting it automatically as the truth.” Some critics may charge that Brussell’s dusty relics of history have no value in contemporary America. But one need look no further than her issues – government surveillance, endless war, the oligarchic control of the ultra-wealthy – to see vital connections to our times. Brussell’s conspiracy theories feel remote from those of far-right ideologies that underlie today’s so-called conspiracy culture. Brussell inclined her attitudes more toward the counterculture of the 1960s and ‘70s, although she did not allow the “right and left dichotomy,” as she put it, to skew her research. Contemporary conspiracy-mongers (disciples of the John Birch Society; Gary Allen, author of None Dare Call it Conspiracy) thrive on elements of xenophobia and nationalism. Brussell despised this. She focused on the ruling class, what we hear today called “the illuminati,” and speculated that it might successfully implement a “divide and conquer” strategy in times of turmoil to distract people from the crimes of those in power. Some thoughts seem eerily prophetic. I believe that the Nazis and the Minutemen and the Christian movement are going to get very strong, and at the same time there’s going to be a massive depression. I see large masses of people around the world being deliberately starved every day. I see terrible things happening to reduce the population of this earth, so that those who control the corporations don’t have to provide for the needs of the poor. These words, spoken in 1978, sound more relevant today than when first uttered. Pundits, politicians and academics use the term conspiracy theorist to smear the reputations of those who hold unpopular opinions or who challenge a widely accepted narrative. Feral House publisher Adam Parfrey points out in this book’s preface that the CIA facilitated the term through media to discredit those who challenged Warren Commission findings that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in Kennedy’s murder. Civil discourse on conspiracies changed drastically when Obama appointed legal scholar Cass Sunstein to his cabinet in 2008 as administrator for the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. Sunstein co-authored an essay entitled “Conspiracy Theories” that proposed government agents infiltrate groups that promote “anti-government conspiracy theories” to disrupt and disband them in a fashion similar to former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover’s COINTELPRO program. Sunstein and co-author Adrian Vermeule state in their proposal, “Those who subscribe to conspiracy theories may create serious risks, including risks of violence, and the existence of such theories raises significant challenges for policy and law.” Mae Brussell’s collection challenges such blind assertions, touching on a wide range of crimes in fact perpetrated by the US government: the FBI’s complicity in the assassinations of Black Panther Party leaders; the CIA’s recruitment of Nazi war criminals into the agency shortly after WWII; the U.S. military’s backing of right-wing terrorist regimes in Latin America. Many of these events get lost in the memory hole. It takes someone like Brussell to rescue them, to preserve this information and use it to prevent such events from happening again. One might not agree with her conclusions or methodology, but she still offers valuable insight into issues in today’s society. ================================================================================================== Mike Kuhlenbeck’s journalism has appeared in The Humanist, Z Magazine and The Des Moines Register. Head of the FBI's Anthrax Investigation Says the Whole Thing Was a Sham http://911blogger.com/news/2015-04-17/head-fbi-s-anthrax-investigation-says-whole-thing-was-sham Posted on April 17, 2015 by WashingtonsBlog = Agent In Charge of Amerithrax Investigation Blows the Whistle The FBI head agent in charge of the anthrax investigation – Richard Lambert – has just filed a federal whistleblower lawsuit calling the entire FBI investigation bullsh!t: In the fall of 2001, following the 9/11 attacks, a series of anthrax mailings occurred which killed five Americans and sickened 17 others. Four anthrax-laden envelopes were recovered which were addressed to two news media outlets in New York City (the New York Post and Tom Brokaw at NBC) and two senators in Washington D.C. (Patrick Leahy and Tom Daschle). The anthrax letters addressed to New York were mailed on September 18, 2001, just seven days after the 9/11 attacks. The letters addressed to the senators were mailed 21 days later on October 9, 2001. A fifth mailing of anthrax is believed to have been directed to American Media, Inc. (AMI) in Boca Raton, Florida based upon the death of one AMI employee from anthrax poisoning and heavy spore contamination in the building. Executive management at FBI Headquarters assigned responsibility for the anthrax investigation (code named “AMERITHRAX”) to the Washington Field Office (WFO), dubbing it the single most important case in the FBI at that time. In October 2002, in the wake of surging media criticism, White House impatience with a seeming lack of investigative progress by WFO, and a concerned Congress that was considering revoking the FBI’s charter to investigate terrorism cases, Defendant FBI Director Mueller reassigned Plaintiff from the FBI’s San Diego Field Office to the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters and placed Plaintiff in charge of the AMERITHRAX case as an “Inspector.” While leading the investigation for the next four years, Plaintiff’s efforts to advance the case met with intransigence from WFO’s executive management, apathy and error from the FBI Laboratory, politically motivated communication embargos from FBI Headquarters, and yet another preceding and equally erroneous legal opinion from Defendant Kelley – all of which greatly obstructed and impeded the investigation. = On July 6, 2006, Plaintiff provided a whistleblower report of mismanagement to the FBI’s Deputy Director pursuant to Title 5, United States Code, Section 2303. Reports of mismanagement conveyed in writing and orally included: (a) WFO’s persistent understaffing of the AMERITHRAX investigation; ( the threat of WFO’s Agent in charge to retaliate if Plaintiff disclosed the understaffing to FBI Headquarters; © WFO’s insistence on staffing the AMERITHRAX investigation principally with new Agents recently graduated from the FBI Academy resulting in an average investigative tenure of 18 months with 12 of 20 Agents assigned to the case having no prior investigative experience at all; (d) WFO’s eviction of the AMERITHRAX Task Force from the WFO building in downtown Washington and its relegation to Tysons Corner, Virginia to free up space for Attorney General Ashcroft’s new pornography squads; (e) FBI Director’s Mueller’s mandate to Plaintiff to “compartmentalize” the AMERITHRAX investigation by stove piping the flow of case information and walling off task force members from those aspects of the case not specifically assigned to them – a move intended to stem the tide of anonymous media leaks by government officials regarding details of the investigation. [Lambert complained about compartmentalizing and stovepiping of the investigation in a 2006 declaration. See this, this and this] (SEE SITE) This sequestration edict decimated morale and proved unnecessary in light of subsequent civil litigation which established that the media leaks were attributable to the United States Attorney for the District of the District of Columbia and to a Supervisory Special Agent in the FBI’s National Press Office, not to investigators on the AMERITHRAX Task Force; (f) WFO’s diversion and transfer of two Ph.D. Microbiologist Special Agents from their key roles in the investigation to fill billets for an 18 month Arabic language training program in Israel; (g) the FBI Laboratory’s deliberate concealment from the Task Force of its discovery of human DNA on the anthrax-laden envelope addressed to Senator Leahy and the Lab’s initial refusal to perform comparison testing; (h) the FBI Laboratory’s refusal to provide timely and adequate scientific analyses and forensic examinations in support of the investigation; (i) Defendant Kelley’s erroneous and subsequently quashed legal opinion that regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) precluded the Task Force’s collection of evidence in overseas venues; (j) the FBI’s fingering of Bruce Ivins as the anthrax mailer; and, (k) the FBI’s subsequent efforts to railroad the prosecution of Ivins in the face of daunting exculpatory evidence. Following the announcement of its circumstantial case against Ivins, Defendants DOJ and FBI crafted an elaborate perception management campaign to bolster their assertion of Ivins’ guilt. These efforts included press conferences and highly selective evidentiary presentations which were replete with material omissions. Plaintiff further objected to the FBI’s ordering of Plaintiff not to speak with the staff of the CBS television news magazine 60 Minutes or investigative journalist David Willman, after both requested authorization to interview Plaintiff. In April 2008, some of Plaintiff’s foregoing whistleblower reports were profiled on the CBS television show 60 Minutes. This 60 Minutes segment was critical of FBI executive management’s handling of the AMERITHRAX investigation, resulting in the agency’s embarrassment and the introduction of legislative bills calling for the establishment of congressional inquiries and special commissions to examine these issues – a level of scrutiny the FBI’s Ivins attribution could not withstand. After leaving the AMERITHRAX investigation in 2006, Plaintiff continued to publicly opine that the quantum of circumstantial evidence against Bruce Ivins was not adequate to satisfy the proof-beyond-a-reasonable doubt threshold required to secure a criminal conviction in federal court. Plaintiff continued to advocate that while Bruce Ivins may have been the anthrax mailer, there is a wealth of exculpatory evidence to the contrary which the FBI continues to conceal from Congress and the American people. Exonerating Evidence for Ivins Agent Lambert won’t publicly disclose the exculpatory evidence against Ivins. As the New York Times reports: [Lambert] declined to be specific, saying that most of the information was protected by the Privacy Act and was unlikely to become public unless Congress carried out its own inquiry. But there is already plenty of exculpatory evidence in the public record. For example: • Handwriting analysis failed to link the anthrax letters to known writing samples from Ivins • No textile fibers were found in Ivins’ office, residence or vehicles matching fibers found on the scotch tape used to seal the envelopes • No pens were found matching the ink used to address the envelopes • Samples of his hair failed to match hair follicles found inside the Princeton, N.J., mailbox used to mail the letters • No souvenirs of the crime, such as newspaper clippings, were found in his possession as commonly seen in serial murder cases • The FBI could not place Ivins at the crime scene with evidence, such as gas station or other receipts, at the time the letters were mailed in September and October 2001 • Lab records show the number of late nights Ivins put in at the lab first spiked in August 2001, weeks before the 9/11 attacks As noted above, the FBI didn’t want to test the DNA sample found on the anthrax letter to Senator Leahy. In addition, McClatchy points out: After locking in on Ivins in 2007, the bureau stopped searching for a match to a unique genetic bacterial strain scientists had found in the anthrax that was mailed to the Post and to NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw, although a senior bureau official had characterized it as the hottest clue to date. Anthrax vaccine expert Meryl Nass. M.D., notes: The FBI’s alleged motive is bogus. In 2001, Bioport’s anthrax vaccine could not be (legally) relicensed due to potency failures, and its impending demise provided room for Ivins’ newer anthrax vaccines to fill the gap. Ivins had nothing to do with developing Bioport’s vaccine, although in addition to his duties working on newer vaccines, he was charged with assisting Bioport to get through licensure. *** The FBI report claims the anthrax letters envelopes were sold in Frederick, Md. Later it admits that millions of indistinguishable envelopes were made, with sales in Maryland and Virginia. *** FBI emphasizes Ivins’ access to a photocopy machine, but fails to mention it was not the machine from which the notes that accompanied the spores were printed. FBI Fudged the Science 16 government labs had access to the same strain of anthrax as used in the anthrax letters. The FBI admitted that up to 400 people had access to flask of anthrax in Dr. Ivins’ lab. In other words, even if the killer anthrax came from there, 399 other people might have done it. Moreover, even the FBI’s claim that the killer anthrax came from Ivins’ flask has completely fallen apart. Specifically, both the National Academy of Science and the Government Accountability Office – both extremely prestigious, nonpartisan agencies – found that FBI’s methodology and procedures for purportedly linking the anthrax flask maintained by Dr. Ivins with the anthrax letters was sloppy, inconclusive and full of holes. They found that the alleged link wasn’t very strong … and that there was no firm link. Indeed, the National Academy of Sciences found that the anthrax mailed to Congressmen and the media could have come from a different source altogether than the flask maintained by Ivins. Additionally, the Ft. Detrick facility – where Ivins worked – only handled liquid anthrax. But the killer anthrax was a hard-to-make dry powder form of anthrax. Ft. Detrick doesn’t produce dry anthrax; but other government labs – for example Dugway (in Utah) and (Batelle (in Ohio) – do. The anthrax in the letters was also incredibly finely ground; and the FBI’s explanation for how the anthrax became so finely ground doesn’t even pass the smell test. Further, the killer anthrax in the letters had a very high-tech anti-static coating so that the anthrax sample “floated off the glass slide and was lost” when scientists tried to examine it. Specifically, the killer anthrax was coated with polyglass and each anthrax spore given an electrostatic charge, so that it would repel other spores and “float”. This was very advanced bio-weapons technology to which even Ivins’ bosses said he didn’t have access. Top anthrax experts like Richard Spertzel say that Ivins didn’t do it. Spertzel also says that only 4 or 5 people in the entire country knew how to make anthrax of the “quality” used in the letters, that Spertzel was one of them, and it would have taken him a year with a full lab and a staff of helpers to do it. As such, the FBI’s claim that Ivins did it alone working a few nights is ludicrous. Moreover, the killer anthrax contained silicon … but the anthrax in Ivins’ flask did not. The FBI claimed the silicon present in the anthrax letters was absorbed from its surroundings … but Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories completely debunked that theory. In other words, silicon was intentionally added to the killer anthrax to make it more potent. Ivins and Ft. Detrick didn’t have that capability … but other government labs did. Similarly, Sandia National Lab found the presence of iron and tin in the killer anthrax … but NOT in Ivins’ flask of anthrax. Sandia also found that there was a strain of bacteria in one of the anthrax letters not present in Ivins’ flask. (The bacteria, iron, tin and silicon were all additives which made the anthrax in the letters more deadly.) The Anthrax Frame Up Ivins wasn’t the first person framed for the anthrax attacks … Although the FBI now admits that the 2001 anthrax attacks were carried out by one or more U.S. government scientists, a senior FBI official says that the FBI was actually told to blame the Anthrax attacks on Al Qaeda by White House officials (remember what the anthrax letters looked like). Government officials also confirm that the white House tried to link the anthrax to Iraq as a justification for regime change in that country. And see this. People don’t remember now, but the “war on terror” and Iraq war were largely based on the claim that Saddam and Muslim extremists were behind the anthrax attacks (and see this and this) And the anthrax letters pushed a terrified Congress into approving the Patriot Act without even reading it. Coincidentally, the only Congressmen who received anthrax letters were the ones who were likely to oppose the Patriot Act. And – between the bogus Al Qaeda/Iraq claims and the FBI’s fingering of Ivins as the killer – the FBI was convinced that another U.S. government scientist, Steven Hatfill, did it. The government had to pay Hatfill $4.6 million to settle his lawsuit for being falsely accused. Ivins’ Convenient Death It is convenient for the FBI that Ivins died. The Wall Street Journal points out: No autopsy was performed [on Ivins], and there was no suicide note. Dr. Nass points out: FBI fails to provide any discussion of why no autopsy was performed, nor why, with Ivins under 24/7 surveillance from the house next door, with even his garbage being combed through, the FBI failed to notice that he overdosed and went into a coma. Nor is there any discussion of why the FBI didn’t immediately identify tylenol as the overdose substance, and notify the hospital, so that a well-known antidote for tylenol toxicity could be given (N-acetyl cysteine, or alternatively glutathione). These omissions support the suggestion that Ivins’ suicide was a convenience for the FBI. It enabled them to conclude the anthrax case, in the absence of evidence that would satisfy the courts. Indeed, one of Ivins’ colleagues at Ft. Deitrich thinks he was murdered. Whether murder or suicide, Ivins’ death was very convenient for the FBI, as dead men can’t easily defend themselves. http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2015/04/head-fbis-anthrax-investigation-calls-b-s.html American Anthrax https://youtu.be/zT7ATynE8_0 https://youtu.be/92Syc1agCBk

  10. Union of 30,000 Doctors in Latin America Wants Monsanto Banned  05/08/2015  HEALTH & WELLNESS, WORLD NEWS http://govtslaves.info/union-of-30000-doctors-in-latin-america-wants-monsanto-banned/ (John Vibes) It was announced this week that over 30,000 doctors and health experts throughout Latin America are demanding that Monsanto’s products be banned. One of the primary cases that these doctors are bringing against Monsanto is the recent confirmation that their main herbicide RoundUp is actually responsible for causing cancer. “In our country glyphosate is applied on more than 28 million hectares. Each year, the soil is sprayed with more than 320 million liters, which means that 13 million people are at risk of being affected, according to the Physicians Network of Sprayed Peoples (RMPF),” Argentina’s union of medical professionals, Fesprosa said in a statement. The Fesprosa union is comprised of over 30,000 medical health professionals, most of whom wish to enact the ban on Monsanto products, and specifically the chemical glyphosate, the active chemical in RoundUp. “We believe the precautionary principle should be applied, and that we should stop accumulating studies and take decisions that could come too late. We advocate a ban on glyphosate which should take effect in the short term with restrictions on purchasing, spraying and packaging,” Javier Souza, coordinator of Latin American pesticide action network said. “We cannot allow the business interests of a North American multinational to be more important than the health of the people of our region. Governments should promote the technology and practices of organic farming to protect growers, consumers and the environment,” Franco Segesso, coordinator of the campaign at Greenpeace Andino said. As we reported earlier this year, Monsanto is continuing to lose profits into the second quarter of 2015, shedding an exceptional 15% profit amid falling GMO seed sales — even more than most experts projected.

The parties agreed to settle the case in February, but the total amount of the monetary award was not decided until last week. It includes $55,000 that the city previously had agreed to pay one of the women. The lawsuit, filed in 2012, claims that former police officer Michael Eiskant stalked and harassed the women. Those who sued him include a former Santa Fe police officer and two employees of the state Department of Public Safety. City spokesman Matt Ross said he couldn’t comment on the case, but he provided court documents outlining the city’s decision to settle the suit. John Bienvenu, an attorney for the eight women, said they hope others who have been harassed by public officials will realize that they have recourse. “By bringing up this lawsuit, they wanted to demonstrate that they would not be intimidated into silence by the behavior of this officer,” Bienvenu said. James Sullivan, Eiskant’s lawyer, didn’t respond Thursday to messages seeking comment. Police Chief Eric Garcia declined to comment on the case and referred questions to former chief Ray Rael. Rael, however, didn’t immediately return calls seeking comment. All the women made similar complaints against Eiskant, 45. They said he engaged in lewd and provocative behavior. Two of the women said he pulled them over on the pretext that they had done something wrong. Terrie Montoya, a human resource administrator at the Department of Public Safety, said Eiskant followed her in his patrol car while she was driving to a doctor’s appointment. Eiskant then approached Montoya, the lawsuit says, and told her that her license plate cover was illegal and that her vehicle registration was incorrect. Her complaint says Eiskant made sexual gestures with his body as he spoke to her. Montoya later learned that her license plate cover was proper and that her registration was up to date, the lawsuit says. ================ Read more: http://www.santafenewmexican.com/news/local_news/city-settles-harassment...
  12. April Payrolls Miss At 223K, March Revised Much Lower, Wage Growth Disappoints Again Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/08/2015 = While the April payrolls came almost precisely as expected, at 223K, a tiny 5K below the 228K expected, the reason stock are soaring is that the already abysmal March payroll prints was revised even lower to just 85,000, the weakest print since June 2012, and pushing the 3 month average job gain to under 200K, or a level which the Fed has indicated previously it will hardly do much if anything material. The household survey did not provide an offsetting boost, with the number of employed Americans rising only 192,000 in April according to the "other" survey. And, as a result and as we noted in our market wrap today, with a June hike now looking unlikely, the S&P has exploded higher. In other relevant news, the unemployment rate is down from 5.5% to 5.4% as expected, but even more important, hopes that wages would finally rise are once again dashed with the average hourly earnings rising a paltry 0.1%, below the 0.2% expected and down from the pre-revision 0.3% gain in March, now revised to just 0.2%. In other words, because ZIRP, QE has failed to trickle down for 7 years, the Fed has a greenlight to do more of it. From the report: Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 223,000 in April, after edging up in March (+85,000). In April, employment increased in professional and business services, health care, and construction, while employment in mining continued to decline. (See table B-1.) Professional and business services added 62,000 jobs in April. Over the prior 3 months, job gains averaged 35,000 per month. In April, services to buildings and dwellings added 16,000 jobs, following little change in March. Employment continued to trend up in April in computer systems design and related services (+9,000), in business support services (+7,000), and in management and technical consulting services (+6,000). Health care employment increased by 45,000 in April. Job growth was distributed among the three major components--ambulatory health care services (+25,000), hospitals (+12,000), and nursing and residential care facilities (+8,000). Over the past year, health care has added 390,000 jobs. Employment in construction rose by 45,000 in April, after changing little in March. Over the past 12 months, construction has added 280,000 jobs. In April, job growth was concentrated in specialty trade contractors (+41,000), with employment gains about evenly split between the residential and nonresidential components. Employment declined over the month in nonresidential building construction (-8,000). In April, employment continued to trend up in transportation and warehousing (+15,000). Employment in mining fell by 15,000 in April, with most of the job loss in support activities for mining (-10,000) and in oil and gas extraction (-3,000). Since the beginning of the year, employment in mining has declined by 49,000, with losses concentrated in support activities for mining. Employment in other major industries, including manufacturing, wholesale trade, retail trade, information, financial activities, leisure and hospitality, and government, showed little change over the month. And yes, according to the BLS, only 3,300 oil and gas extraction jobs were lost in April. According to Challenger, as noted previously, about 6 times that number. Someone is still lying.

  14. site jfkfacts JFK review board was thwarted on Marines’ assessment of Oswald April 3, 2014 jeffmorley = One of the most effective open government laws ever passed by the U.S. Congress was the JFK Records Act, passed 22 years ago in October 1992. The implementation of the law, mandating the review and release of all records related to the assassination of President John Kennedy in 1963, was overseen by the Assassination Records Review Board, a forgotten federal agency that did a remarkable job uncovering what former New York Times reporter Phil Shenon has called “the hidden history of the Kennedy assassination.” But the ARRB was stymied on one key group of records. Oswald, the ex-Marine One area of the JFK assassination story where ARRB was unable to shed much new light was the U.S. Marine Corps records on Oswald, who served in the Marines from age 17 to 20 before defecting to the Soviet Union in 1959. It seems almost certain that such records exist (or existed once). Yet they have proven hard to find. The ARRB’s FInal Report described the issue. “The question of whether the Marine Corps conducted a post-assassination investigation and produced a written report on former Marine Private Lee Harvey Oswald, circa late 1963 and early 1964, has never been resolved to the satisfaction of the public. Similarly, many have wondered whether the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) conducted a post-defection ‘net damage assessment’ investigation of Lee Harvey Oswald circa 1959 or 1960. Various former Oswald associates and military investigators have recalled separate investigations….” The ARRB asked about Oswald’s Marines Corps records. “The Review Board asked the Marine Corps to search for any records relating to post-assassination investigations that the U.S. Marine Corps might have completed, as some researchers believe. The U.S. Marine Corps searched files at both U.S. Marine Corps HQ in Quantico, and at the Federal Records Center in Suitland, Maryland, but the Marine Corps did not locate evidence of any internal investigations of Lee Harvey Oswald, other than correspondence already published in the Warren Report.” Fred Reeve’s story The ARRB considered the possibility of an ONI post-defection investigation. “The Review Board became aware of an individual named Fred Reeves of California, who was reputed to have been in charge of a post-defection ‘net damage assessment’ of Oswald by the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) shortly after Oswald’s defection to the U.S.S.R. The Review Board contacted Reeves, interviewed him twice by telephone, then flew him to Washington, D.C., where the Review Board staff interviewed him in person.” Reeves was seemingly a credible witness. In 1959, he was a civilian Naval Intelligence Operations Specialist. He served in the District Intelligence Office of the San Diego, California, 11th Naval District. “Reeves told the Review Board that a week or so after Oswald defected to the U.S.S.R., two officers from ONI in Washington, D.C. (one of the officers who called Mr. Reeves was Rufus Taylor, who was Director of Naval Intelligence in 1964) called him and asked him to conduct a background investigation at the Marine Corps Air Station in El Toro, California, Oswald’s last duty station before his discharge from the Marine Corps. “Reeves said that he went to El Toro, copied Oswald’s enlisted personnel file, obtained the names of many of his associates, and mailed this information to ONI in Washington, D.C.” “He said that ONI in Washington ran the post-defection investigation of Oswald, and that the Washington officers then directed various agents in the field. Although Reeves did not interview anyone himself, he said that later (circa late 1959 or early 1960), approximately 12 to 15 ‘119’ reports concerning Oswald (OPNAV Forms 5520119 are ONI’s equivalent of an FBI FD302 investigative report), crossed his desk. “Reeves said he was aware of ‘119’ reports from Japan and Texas, and that the primary concern of the reports he read on Oswald was to ascertain what damage had been done to national security by Oswald’s defection. Reeves reported that he also saw eight to ten ‘119’ reports on Oswald after the assassination, and that he was confident he was not confusing the two events in his mind.” NCIS responds From the ARRB report: “In the spring of 1998, Review Board staff members met with two Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) records management officials, one of whom personally verified that he had searched for District Intelligence Office records (with negative results) from the San Diego, Dallas, and New Orleans District Intelligence Offices in 1996 with negative results. This search included ‘119’ reports from the time period 1959-1964, during an extensive search of NCIS record group 181. The search included any records that would have been related to Oswald’s defection. Thus, the Review Board ultimately located no documentary evidence to substantiate Reeves’ claims.” What is to be done? Reeves story is credible and logical and corroborated by other witnesses and evidence. Of course, the Marines would do a damage assessment when one of its members defected to a foreign power. It is simply not possible that the Marines did not do an assessment of the damage done by his defction.. In short, the available evidence points to the existence of U.S. Marines Corps files on Oswald that have never been seen. If these records still exist, the JFK Records Act mandates that they be made publicly immediately. Unfortunately, since the ARRB went out of existence in 1998, there is no mechanism to enforce the JFK Records Act. We have seen that the National Archives is unable or unwilling to publicly challenge the CIA’s extreme secrecy practices around JFK records. The only alternative would seem to be litigation. = To be continued

  17. Poverty returns to Europe by leaps and bounds 04.05.2015 Poverty returns to Europe by leaps and bounds. === The news about the economic situation in the EU reminds frontline reports. Head of Unilever in Western Europe, Ian Zeyderveld, from the pages of the Financial Times Deutschland said that poverty is returning to Europe. The main reason for the increasingly lower income of the residents of the Old World is a full-blown crisis in the euro area that is still far from complete. Ian Zeyderveld has proposed a new strategy to remedy the rapidly declining profits of Unilever in Western Europe. He believes that product packaging should be made smaller to reduce its price. It works both in Asia and now in Europe. The Unilever is not alone in changing its marketing strategy in the crisis-stricken European countries. Head of the Department on International Financial Issues at the Centre for European Economic Research, Professor Michael Schroeder said that the European crisis affects export-oriented producers more than others. As a result, market conditions weaken, unemployment rises, and living standards lower. According to the expert, this situation may last for three to four years. Numerous examples of the fall of the level of European citizens clearly illustrate his words. In its study, the British Guardian newspaper found that 83 percent of teachers in the UK every day see hungry students. Over half of teachers say that in the last couple of years the number of hungry school children has increased, as many British families are suffering from reduced benefits, unemployment and recession. Almost half of the teachers admitted to feeding starving scholars, one in five even gives them money for lunch. Why is this happening? The Center of the Modern Family in the UK conducted a study that demonstrated the effects of the fall of wages and cost of living for the Britons, and increased cost of goods and services related to child care. The crisis also hurts young Britons of 18-32 years old - according to the survey, one in five cannot pay their utility bills, and one in eight young resident of England skips lunch for the opportunity to feed their family. But Britain is not the poorest country in Western Europe. The situation in not so wealthy economies of the region is much worse. The unemployment rate for people aged 16 to 24 years old in Italy is 28 percent, in Greece - 43 percent, and in Spain - 51 percent. The Greek economy in the past year fell by 6 percent, the recession in the country has been ongoing for five years, and it is projected that this year the economy will fall by another 5 percent. About 20 percent of retail stores were shut down. The number of suicides in Greece over the last 12 months has increased by 40 percent, and the amount of debt of the Greek government, according to the IMF, is 160 percent of GDP. In June of this year, the public debt of Italy, according to the local central bank, has reached a record $2 trillion euros, which is 123 percent of its GDP. Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti said that Italy does not need financial help from the EU, but only moral support, which is hard to believe. The second largest economy in Europe after Germany, France, has also suffered from the crisis. According to the Statistics Bureau of France Insee, this is the third stagnant quarter in a row. Stagnation is, of course, not a recession, but the country's government has a lot to think about. Perhaps one of a few countries that are more or less stable during the financial storms is Germany. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the growth of the economy of Germany for the year 2012 was 0.5 percent. It had a positive impact on the growth of domestic consumption and export. The opinion of the Europeans about the situation is worthy of note. In July of 2012, the results of the survey "Eurobarometer" that tracks the level of anxiety and concern among residents of the Old World were published. It turned out that 71 percent of the EU citizens consider the economic situation in the country poor. 30 percent of the residents of the EU assess their position in the labor market as unsatisfactory. 100 percent of Greek believes that the economy is in trouble. The same opinion on the state of the national economies was expressed by 99 percent of the population of Spain, 96 percent of Irish, 93 percent of Hungarians and 92 percent of Italians. However, according to the same survey, there are optimistic countries, whose people consider the situation in their countries more than acceptable. Among them are 83 percent of Swedes, 77 percent of Germans, 66 percent of Austrians and 55 percent of Danes. According to head of the Scientific Research of Mises Center Yaroslav Romanchuk, now there is a situation where we have two Europes - a happy one (mainly Germany and Scandinavia), and the rest - about 20 countries, and the difference between the two Europes is turning into an abyss. The consequence of this situation is growing nationalism, resentment, and envy. The crisis also affected most affluent segments of the population of Europe. According to a research by Capgemini and Royal Bank of Canada, the wealth of millionaires not only in the EU, but in the entire world in recent years has declined. The exceptions are, perhaps, only the fat cats in the Middle East. Last year, the total wealth of the world's millionaires fell by 1.7 percent - the first such decline since 2008. The number of the super-rich decreased by 2.5 percent. The report's authors say this is due to the fact that wealthy people abroad often invest their money in low liquidity and high risk assets - such as real estate However, statistics shows an increase in the number of millionaires in Europe at 1.1 percent due to the fact that the wealthy people of the continent now prefer to invest in foreign assets. The largest number of wealthy people now lives in the Asia-Pacific region. Chinese business advisor Andy Xie believes that the measures taken by the European leaders to improve the economic situation in the region cannot put an end to the crisis and are not radical and convincing enough. The expert sees the main cause of the crisis in their irresponsibility. The EU countries have broken the rules of their own game in terms of the budget deficits and mired in debt. Endless loans that were handed out in the past, sooner or later, would lead to a crisis. The European leaders have asked the international community to support their nation, saying that otherwise the global economy will get worse. According to Xie, since Europe is the main trading partner of China, export-oriented Chinese firms are ruined. It is not just China - Europe is the main source of technological and industrial maintenance for Africa, and the crisis in Europe affects the situation in the most negative way. Germany proposes to introduce austerity measures to cut all kinds of benefits and wages in the troubled areas of Europe, mainly in its south. However, these measures are becoming increasingly more ineffective and unpopular - unemployment is rising, the standard of living is falling, and the positive trend is not visible. Andy Xie said that the inefficiency of today's economy of Europe is due to its lavish social costs, ineffective trade unions, as well as confusing laws that prevent the development of competition. If the countries of Europe eliminate these obstacles to their development, the situation may markedly improve. The administration of the U.S. President has sent to Europe the U.S. Treasury representative Lyle Brainard to encourage the governments of several countries in the anti-crisis measures. In particular, it is expected that the Eurozone stabilization funds will be used - about 700 billion euros - to recapitalize banks and provide financial assistance directly to financial companies, not the countries. All experts agree that Europe has to learn to live within its means and stop giving endless credits and encourage dependency of the poorer EU countries. Only a concerted and deliberate policy of the EU leaders will be able to stop the spread of the crisis and improve the lives of ordinary citizens. ==================== Sergei Vasilenkov Pravda.Ru
  18. You Asked Health Research You Asked: Are the Honeybees Still Disappearing? Markham Heid @markhamh April 15, 2015      You Asked: Are Honeybees Still Disappearing? Beekeepers continue to grapple with historically high death rates. And now something’s up with the queens. From almonds to cherries, dozens of food crops are partially or totally dependent on honeybee pollination. And while media attention has waned, there’s still reason to worry about the country’s smallest and most indispensable farm workers. Bee researchers first reported massive die-offs back in the 1990s. But the plight of the honeybee didn’t truly buzz into the national consciousness until the spring of 2013, when data revealed the average beekeeper had lost 45% of her colonies the previous winter. A mysterious phenomenon known as colony collapse disorder (CCD) further stoked the fires of public interest. Jump to 2015. While last winter’s bee death data won’t be published for a few more weeks, things appear to be “status quo,” says Dr. Greg Hunt, a honeybee expert at Purdue University. Unfortunately, the status quo is grim. “We’ve been seeing about 30% loss in an average winter,” Hunt says. “The winter before last was particularly bad and got a lot of attention, but things have been bad for a while.”

University dean who called for sanctions against Dr Medardo Avila Vazquez reported to have signed deal with Monsanto The National University of Cordoba, Argentina has dropped the administrative sanctions it had planned against a doctor who conducted cancer research in the town of Monte Maiz in the face of huge popular and scientific support for his work. Dr Medardo Avila Vazquez and his team conducted a survey that found that the incidence of cancer in Monte Maiz was three times the provincial and national average, correlating with exposure to pesticides in the area. The main crops grown are GM soy and maize. The administrative sanctions against Dr Vazquez were requested by Juan Marcelo Conrero, the dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. The university had said it did not support the research that Dr Vazquez and his team conducted because did not match the project that it authorised. But according to an article on the news website La Mañana de Cordoba, “The truth is that the order sanctioning Dr Medardo Avila Vazquez did not gain support.” Dr Vazquez, in contrast, “received the support of social, labour, student and political organisations that designated themselves as ‘committed to the life and health of our people and to responding to a social and environmental emergency’.“ Scientists also expressed their support for Dr Vazquez, as did the Argentine national political party Unidad Popular. Unidad Popular reported on its website that Juan Marcelo Conrero, the university dean who initiated the action against the doctor, had only last year signed agreements between the university and Monsanto. The Health Secretary of Monte Maiz, Hugo Bettiol, commented on the University of Cordoba’s moves against Dr Vazquez, “There are many economic interests. We are a soybean country with lots of money at stake, and there are many pressures." He added: "I think that the study that Dr Medardo Avila Vazquez conducted did have scientific backing; we must not undermine his work." Arleigh Burke CNO given job on board of Freeport Sulphur post assassination. (the payoff) ======================= Freeport Sulphur's Powerful Board of Directors ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Freeport Sulphur's Board of Directors has always held an astounding number of heavy hitters. Look at some of the Directors from the '60s and '70s. ==================================================================== Arleigh Burke = An early participant in the Bay of Pigs planning, he also was one of the ones strongly pushing for the assassination of Fidel Castro. Burke served on the Committee for a Free Cuba, along with Time/Life mogul Clare Booth Luce and Virginia Prewett-a journalist David Phillips said he knew quite well. The former Chief of Naval Operations also gave an endorsement to an organization well know to readers of Probe, INCA-Information Council of the Americas, a CIA-allied Latin American propaganda organization. = Augustus Long = Augustus "Gus" Long was Chairman of Texaco for years. Texaco, like Freeport, had investments in Cuba. Unlike Freeport, Texaco's operation was designed to run at a loss, as a tax write-off. Long had also done "prodigious volunteer work for Columbia Presbyterian Hospital." Those of you who read our last issue of Probe will recall the that Columbia Presbyterian was a client of the Mullen Company, and that a former employee of the Mullen Company had described Columbia Presbyterian as a hotbed of CIA activity. Gus Long once had to step aside so a building at Columbia University could be named after Armand Hammer instead. Long then got a library named after himself. The Rockefellers are generous donors to Columbia University. = Robert Lovett = Lovett had been General Partner at Brown Brothers, Harriman (he married a Brown.) He had served as Undersecretary of State, Assistant Secretary of War, and Secretary of Defense. He sat on the National Security Council. Ruling class researcher and author G. William Domhoff called Lovett a "Cold War architect." Lovett once accused Army Intelligence (G-2) of ineptitude when he learned that German scientists hadn't been brought out of Nazi Germany yet. Lovett was also best friends with Chase Manhattan Bank Chairman and Warren Commission member John J. McCloy. These two, along with Harvey H. Bundy, formed a close working relationship. Harvey H. Bundy was the father of McGeorge and Bill Bundy. President Kennedy tried to sign up Lovett for a role in his administration. Although Lovett declined, his suggestions must have carried a lot of weight with Kennedy. For the State Department, Lovett proposed Dean Rusk. For Defense Secretary, either his friend John J. McCloy or Robert McNamara, his protege. And for the Treasury, McCloy or C. Douglas Dillon. Kennedy took Rusk, McNamara, and Dillon. = Jean Mauze = As the third husband of Abby Rockefeller-sister of David, Laurance, John III, and Nelson-Mauze was the Rockefellers' brother-in-law. = Godfrey Rockefeller = Second cousin to Nelson, David, Laurance and Abby, Godfrey was the brother of James Stillman Rockefeller. Godfrey was a trustee of the Fairfield Foundation, which provided funds to Encounter, a British publication later revealed to be financed by the CIA. Fairfield also financed the Congress for Cultural Freedom, also exposed as a CIA front. = Benno C. Schmidt = Benno C. Schmidt was an original partner in J. H. Whitney & Company, where he knew former deputy director of the CIA William Jackson. Schmidt taught law at Harvard, and had worked for the War Production board. Schmidt eventually ran Yale University, the CIA's favorite academic recruiting ground. He was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Memorial Hospital for Cancer and Allied Diseases, a center that had become a pet project of the most secretive of the Rockefeller brothers, Laurance Rockefeller. Schmidt was also heavily involved with David Rockefeller, as the two of them jointly owned "Orleans Farm" in Australia-a showcase ranch.

Policing in this country really seems to be going to the dogs. Yes, that’s a silly euphemism, at least unless you live in Vineland, New Jersey. A video filmed a week ago Tuesday appears to show local police allowing a K9 dog to tear into the face of what looks to be an unarmed black man while he is curled up on the ground. The man, identified as 32-year-old Phillip White, later died while in police custody. A police dog tears apart an unarmed black man's face while officers watch. The police were responding to a report of a disorderly person, who was “screaming and yelling,” according to a local television station with access to the police radio transmissions of the incident. Multiple officers arrived on the scene and requested backup, yelling as they allege White reaches for one of their weapons. Moments later, one of them reports, “Slow units down. Subject under apprehension. Tried disarming me.” According to a statement from Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, "White was handcuffed and restrained… White was placed in an emergency vehicle to be transported to the hospital. At some point during transport White became unresponsive." Philadelphia’s NBC10 station reported that the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office said White, the father of three, was transported to a local hospital for “respiratory distress,” where he was declared dead, despite efforts to revive him. The person who shot the footage, which is from a phone, is shown being approached by police, saying, “I need your information and I’m going to need to take your phone.” It is legal to film police interactions in New Jersey. The situation is under investigation by the New Jersey State Police, Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office, and a private lawyer hired by the family named Conrad Benedetto. 25. If you have not ...please read post # 1 this thread ,thank you Steven Gaal ====------------------------------------------oooooo-----------------------------------------------==== US Wars Kill Mostly Civilians By Stephen Lendman 5-4-15 Post-9/11 alone, millions of civilians perished in US direct and proxy wars. They were either in harm's way, deliberately targeted, or perished from war related violence, preventable diseases or deprivation. Washington, like Israel, considers noncombatant civilians legitimate targets. International law calls killing them a war crime. Obama's Iraq war and Syria bombing aren't against IS terrorists. They're US recruited proxy foot soldiers, supported by American air power. Washington's Friday's Aleppo area bombing murdered dozens of noncombatant civilians - not a single IS terrorist. None were targeted. Noncombatant civilians alone were in the Birmahle area struck - no IS terrorists. No clashes were reported. US CENTCOM lied reporting "no indication that any civilians were killed in these strikes." It claimed "several ISIL fighting positions (were) destroy(ed)." It said "more than 50 ISIL fighters" were targeted. It bears repeating, ONLY civilians were killed - no IS terrorists. None were present - nor any IS "fighting positions." The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) issued a statement "condemn(ing) in the strongest terms this massacre committed by the US led coalition under the pretext of targeting the IS in the village, and we call the coalition countries to refer who committed this massacre to the courts, as we renew our calls to neutralize all civilians areas from military operations by all parties." Since US warplanes began terror-bombing Syria last September, mostly noncombatant civilian men, women and children died. Reuters said US attacks "had little impact on the hardline Islamic State group…(It) fail(ed) to weaken it in areas it controls." Bombing supports its US proxy force mission to topple Bashar al-Assad. Obama wants a convenient US stooge replacing him. Washington' strategy includes murdering civilians in all its wars. In the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Ukraine, endless so-called humanitarian wars murdered millions of noncombatants advancing America's imperium. Horrific war crimes go unreported or are denied. When investigations are conducted they whitewashed. High-level government and Pentagon culpability doesn't matter. Millions of corpses attest to America's barbarity. During US-led NATO's terror-bombing of Libya, British Civilians for Peace (BCP) spokesman Dale Roberts said he "witnessed the effects of bombing on civilians." "This has included schools, hospitals, infrastructure and (other) civilian areas" unrelated to military sites. So-called Pentagon "Kill Teams" murder with impunity. US death squads have been used since WW II. In Korea, tens of thousands were murdered in cold blood. In Vietnam, Operation Phoenix was the most indiscriminate mass slaughter campaign since Hitler's death camps - exceeded in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. US terror-bombing since America entered WW II killed millions of noncombatants. Sociologist Emile Durkheim (1858 - 1917) once said "(t)he immorality of war depends entirely on the leaders who willed it." If alive today, he'd have Bush and Obama in mind. Immanuel Wallerstein calls America "the most dangerous loose gun." In his opening Nuremberg address, Justice Robert Jackson denounced the "men who possess themselves of great power and make deliberative and concerted use of it to set in motion evils which leave no home in the world untouched." He called them "men of station and rank (who don't) soil (their) hands with blood." They use "lesser folk" to commit crimes of war and against humanity to enhance their status, privilege, wealth and power. In Afghanistan and Iraq, Pentagon commanders ordered US forces to kill all military-aged men on sight. During training, enemies are vilified, dehumanized to make killing easy. Recruits are programmed (brainwashed) to feel guiltless about cold-blooded murder - on the ground, from offshore or from 30,000 feet. Yet international and US laws are clear. US Army Field Manual incorporates Nuremberg Principles as well as the 1956 Law of Land Warfare. FM's paragraph 498 states any person, military or civilian, who commits a crime under international law is responsible for it and may be punished. Paragraph 499 defines a war crime. Paragraph 500 refers to a conspiracy, attempts to commit it and complicity with respect to international crimes. Paragraph 509 denies the defense of superior orders in the commission of a crime. Paragraph 510 denies the defense of an "act of state" as absolution for war crimes. These provisions apply to all US military and civilian personnel to the highest levels, including the president, defense secretary and joint chiefs chairman. It doesn't matter. American forces commit horrific atrocities and other war crimes in all US wars. Mass murdering noncombatant civilians is standard operating procedure. Obama claims he has moral authority to attack any nation he wishes on the pretext of humanitarian intervention. Commenting on US-led NATO's rape of Yugoslavia, the late Harold Pinter said: "When they said '(w)e had to do something,' I said: Who is this 'we' exactly that you're talking about?" "Under what heading do 'we' act, under what law? And also, the notion that this 'we' has the right to act,' I said, presupposes a moral authority of which this 'we' possesses not a jot! It doesn't exist!" The same holds for all US wars - lawless imperial ones pursued for global conquest and dominance. Lunatics in Washington make policy - waging endless wars on humanity, raping one country after another, murdering millions, claiming a divine right to rule. International laws, norms and standards don't matter - nor US constitutional and statute laws. No nation in world history threatens world peace more than America. None more risk ending life on earth.
