Tin Soldiers and Nixon coming.

"Tin Soldiers and Nixon coming, we're finally on our own, this summer I hear the drumming, four dead in Ohio."

Was the Kent State massacre in May 1970 a conspiracy that went to the top of the Nixon Administration? There is certainly a lot of supporting evidence, although minus a definitive "smoking gun" Here are the first four pointers, I'll post the rest later.

1, One week before his May 5th election, Gov Rhodes came to Kent and made a widely publicised speech that condemned the Kent students.

2, He was in the company of Ohio National Guard General Sylvester Del Corso. Corso was a right wing, pro war man, who often gave speeches condemning anti war student protesters.

3, When the students failed to burn down the ROTC building on the night of May 2nd, the fire suddenly re-ignited AFTER the building was controlled by Law enforcement officers, and long after the protesters had been chased away.

4, The suspicious ROTC fire was the excuse used to bring in the Ohio National Guard, and was followed by the Govs controversial speech.

5, When th ONG first attacked they prevented the TV and news media from following them during the tear gas assault on unarmed Students, Why?

6, On two occasions before the shooting began, for no logical reason, the Troops stopped and aimed their M1 rifles at unarmed protesters, despite the Students being well over 200 yards away.

7, Col Charles Fassinger told his men to prepair to fire when they reached the hilltop if the unarmed Students were viewed as a threat.

8, When the Troops then marched up the hill, of 76 men, only about a dozen, from Troop G, standing together in a close line, stopped, turned and fired a total of 67 shots in 15 seconds.

9, Almost immediately lies were disseminated to the press. An ONG Officer pretended to find a pistol on Jeff Milers body, the same officer claimed he found an offensive weapon on another Student, He later admitted he had planted these items in an attempt to show the Students were violent. Other well planned excuses and coverups included les about snipers firing gunshots BEFORE the ONG fired, rocks and other objects being thrown at Troopers, and open lies about Students being "Three feet away" from the ONG thus threatening the lives of the Troopers.

This is an interesting topic, Stephen.

What is the source of your info?

I would like to read more about Kent State.

I remember when it happened.

A friend of mine walked across the yard, where the shooting took place, an hour before it happened. I think that he was returning to his dorm from classes.

As an aside, I believe that CSN & Y rushed out the album that contained "Ohio" even though it had recently released another album.

"Ohio" was truly an anthem of the times, from the Viet Nam war protest standpoint, much the same way that "White Rabbit" by the Jefferson Airplane was with respect to the drug culture.

Chris, I've been researching Kent State for a while, therefore my sources are multiple, Google Kent State shootings or similar, plenty of information out there.

As I said there is plenty of secondary evidence of a conspiracy to commit murder, but no definitive smoking gun. If nothing else the Govenors words can be interpreted as issuing an open season on "Hippy" protesters, he certainly portrayed them as much more dangerous than they actually were, I believe this may have had the effect of giving the ONG a bad case of "itchy trigger finger" And tellingly, not one trooper or officer was ever punished over these tragic events.

thanks for your interest.

To supplement my earlier post, CSN & Y cut and released "Ohio" a few weeks after the May 4, 1970 shootings, even though it had just released "Deja Vu" in March, 1979.

"Ohio" and "Deja Vu" should be on all of your Ipods.

I was 13 at the time of the shootings, and the whole thing was rather surreal to me.

From my perspective, this all came on the heels of the RFK and MLK assinations.

Because I lived in Memphis, I was at ground zero of the MLK assassination and the resulting riots.

Like I said, it was all rather surreal to me.

So, was there a conspiracy to commit mass murder of unarmed Student protesters at Kent State? and further, was/is there a conspiracy to pervert the course of justice by covering up evidence after the fact? The first could be laid at the door of Govenor Rhodes, the second, by its sheer size and scope, would have to involve officials high up in the Nixon administration, and possibly the ex President himself. So, in time honoured fasion.

1What is known.

2What is suspected

3What, if anything, can we deduce is being hidden, and by whom.

4Cui Bono.

5Who are the principle actors.

In a real sense the murders of four young People at Kent State Campas could be viewed as the door slamming shut on the Sixties, it was a sad end to an era that had energised many, and offered hope for a different kind of World, now, waiting in the wings was the right wing backlash, and a fierce determination that such events should never be allowed to happen again. In stead we were given, Chile, the savage decapitation of Austrailian Socialism, Drug cartells flooding the Ghettos with CIA sponsered heroin, Regan, Thatcher, Cambodia, Vietnams end game, Pol-Pot, and the continued rape of the environment.

Latest on Kent state, Alan Canfora, researcher, and one of the students wounded during the Campus shootings, has been able to find the words, hold, steady, fire, on a TV soundtrack taken at the time. The ONG have always claimed that no direct order was given, and that shots were fired at the unarmed protesters because. "They felt their lives were at risk"

Hey Steve,

You know that they applied the same acoustical techniques the HSCA scientists used at Dealey Plaza to the Kent State shootings, with similar results.

Don Thomas mentions this in his work on the Dealey Plaza acoustics.
