"The police officers had their guns drawn." Do the couple feel a second gunman fired from the grassy knoll? "I do tend to want to lean in the direction that it was a conspiracy, meaning more than one person was involved. But so far, no one's ever come forward with concrete evidence," Bill Newman said. Duke Lane
Best source for Newman's original impressions.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pweuPLTVfl4 Bill Newman recently made note that his impression of a shot from behind him was more based on the visual impact of what he'd seen than on what he'd heard. Someone else would have to tell us whether this is a recent change from what he's said before, or if he's said the same thing before many times. Someone else would have to tell us whether this is a recent change from what he's said before, or if he's said the same thing before many times. Three different times I have heard Newman tell his story. It has never varied. THE SHOTS CAME FROM BEHIND ME. His back was to the knoll. I WAS DIRECTLY IN THE LINE OF FIRE. He was facing the street, with his back to the knoll. I OBSERVED A SHOT HIT HIM IN THE RIGHT TEMPLE. This shot must be from the front. THE IMPRESSION I HAD WAS AS IF SOMEONE SWUNG A BASEBALL BAT AND HIT HIS RIGHT TEMPLE, AND HIS HEAD BURST OPEN AND WAS DRIVEN AWAY FROM ME. JFK's head was driven away from him. THE PRESIDENT WAS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME WHEN HE WAS STRUCK IN THE HEAD. Newman was approximately 15 feet away when he saw the shot strike. I have never heard him make the statement Duke attributes to him. Jack

I'm asking the question here, not making an assertion, but unless he was merely accomodating the supposed wishes of his hosts at the Sixth Floor Museum, he said exactly that last week for an Oral History before an audience of 75-100 people. It was taped, and may already be available online(?).
Antti Hynonen
For those who are left a bit unsure of what to make of Bill Newman's testimony ought to consider Phil Willis' and his family's recollection of what occurred at that time and where the shots came from. Please see this (particularly from 2:00 onwards, Mr. Willis gives his impression of where the kill shot came from): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2-_UhD3Qgk If I recall Phil Willis was a retired Air Force Major and WW2 vet.
